Drake's behavior during the past 7-ish months has made his defeat sooooo much worse for him, because he's showing the world just how much he deserved to be dissed into oblivion. All these months later and he's still acting like a toddler throwing a tantrum in the middle of a department store.

Now he's crying the Raptors won't let him talk on tv during their games anymore. If it's not true, he's making up drama to make people sympathize with him, and if it is true, I guarantee the Raptors simply asked him to not rip their former players and drunkenly hit on women on live tv (which happened earlier this year), and he said "THATS NOT FAIR WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"

@@adeyowodunni5011 "drake haters" and "people that hate drake" are not the same group of people. the OP pretty clearly is talking about people that are not haters starting to dislike drake because of how he has acted throughout this beef, just because he's had haters make fun of him (like legitimately every popular artist has) is entirely irrelevant to what OP is talking about. also very funny to say they've been doing those jokes "since millennia" because that implies that those jokes started in 2000, when drake was like 13, and it implies that they continue to happen to this day, when in actuality that joke was super played out by like 2018

That entire beef was a fucking hilarious ride. Even as someone who was just casually aware of Kendrick and Drake back then, Euphoria alone was enough to make me invested and start laughing my ass off. Nothing else was like seeing MtG drop and then also watching everyone else lose their shit. Doubly so when Not Like Us dropped and everyone on the internet was just screaming, quoting the song's funniest lyrics. That was a hell of a time to get into Kendrick, I'll tell you what.

I’m in the same boat. I was a casual listener at the beginning of 2024, now I’m a proper fan of hip hop. I’m not on any social media besides KZbin so I had no idea the beef was happening at all until I saw a little song called Not Like Us pop us as a recommended song from Kendrick Lamar. I lost my goddamn mind when I heard “Say Drake, I hear you like em young”. Like, what is happening, I need to know! I dove straight into the rabbit hole of a million people talking about and reacting to the beef and the whole thing has been a whirlwind since then.

As a huge Primus fan, that one take about them was unforgivable. Their music does have a lot of humour and silliness but so many of their songs tackle difficult topics like drug addiction/substance abuse, violence, dealing with grief and tragedy and even environmental issues. @@btarczy5067 I think it's because making music that is "typically" sad or serious is very demonstrative and gives people an easy signal that they're meant to be feeling sad or serious, but the subtlety of comedy can be lost because a lot of people don't typically engage with comedy that is used as a filter for talking about serious stuff or they aren't used to reading between the lines in a musical context. Also yes, comedy that is purely for the sake of fun IS emotionally valid in itself. I reckon because comedy in its nature subverts seriousness, some people forget how seriously important having a sense of humour is.

The idea that music can't be meaningful or compelling or have an "emotional core" unless it's sad and angsty and self-serious is truly one of the worst takes and I hate it so much. If an artist makes stupid silly music, that means humor is the emotional core. It may not be what you want out of the music you listen to, and that's perfectly fine, but that doesn't make it emotionally void.

To be honest, I think Drake did more damage to his own image than Kendrick did. I mean Kendrick won the battle and pretty much did to Drake what Drake did to Meek by making a diss record that was also a hit and could be played in the club, car, cookout, etc. but how Drake handled it was terrible. The comments on Derozan during that Raptors game, the 100 gigs looking super desperate, yachty, 40 and other Drake associates coming out to vouch that "no, Drake is totally the best he's ever been. He's completely unfazed and actually enjoyed how it happened", the lawsuit against his own label. I mean if Drake would have just gone away, worked on an album, and came back to release it and let the music speak for itself and just not even acknowledge the beef or acknowledge it in a way where he doesn't come off like a 15 year old, he would have been in a way better position and the general public wouldn't even be thinking about it anymore much as Meek is now back and no one is really ever thinking about the Drake/Meek beef.

When the beef started I was shocked to hear that he was considered part of the big 3 by many. I've always thought he was excruciatingly mid, with a few solid songs and features. How anyone thought he stood a chance at all is beyond me. The most fun I had was when Kendrick was taking a long time to respond. I loved seeing Drake stans get all gassed up, because it was pretty obvious to anyone tuned in that a bloodbath was likely to come from Kendrick. He gave them everything they asked for. Remember, Drake told kendrick to talk about how he liked little girls in Taylor Made. "Drop drop drop" too. They asked for this and they got it.
