But if he hasn’t released an album since 2006 then why does he all of a sudden care about albums counting towards his deal? Motherfucker you weren’t dropping music anyways. This doesn't really sound like a conservative progressive issue it's just people like music and that they don't really pay too much attention to the words sometimes. Andre 3000 made hey ya and that's a story about somebody going through issues with his girlfriend or break up but because it has a happy tune you don't really notice it

So the question is... how does it affects him? I mean, it doesn't count, but it got all the money machine support, the album is out and got recognition. Isn't it actually great that by not counting it, already makes the album even more special in his discography and proves his point at not making a hip hop album? I think is total win for him.

90% is genuinely so odd to me… Like, asking for an album to maybe have 1-2 songs (hell, I’ll be a little generous and say maybe even a 1/3 of the album) that could be easy singles or like staples of party playlists seems fairly reasonable, but putting that on an artist who’s known for being experimental is crazy

I'm surprised that stacks still has a contract to fulfill. Hés acting like he doesn't with these album droughts. Rappers used to make double albums specifically to get from under the contract as soon as possible.

Epic wants to still be his label when he eventually releases his (theoretical) big hip hop comeback album. If the jazz albums count, then he'll burn through his required releases, be able to leave Epic and go somewhere else with a better contract and then release his big hip hop comeback album and Epic won't benefit

I'm sure people like the album and his flute playing is probably lovely but it was never gonna get the kind of reach that an Outkast type album would.

Unless you have astronomical influence, your lawyers are going to be worse then their lawyers, and something in your 50 page contract (or the 50+ years of BS legal precedent) is going to allow the corporate lawyers to get their way.
