The ending of this video hit me just perfect. Sometimes I'll grab a few figures off the shelf and re-pose them and its just a great feeling. It's so easy to forget how fun the hobby is sometimes, especially when you're hunting for an impossible to find figure. I came here because I saw another video and it had the dooms in the intro so I decided to find that video. I also have both Dooms because I like them for different reasons. You totally got a sub from me out of this one. Keep on collecting, my guy.

I would love to see a John Byrne version of the FF, in their black and white costumes. The new Thing already has a Byrne style head with the large brow and oversized jaw, plus add in a She-Hulk in the FF costume and I’m sold!!

I think that the super skrull thing is very good. A lot of people don’t like him because of the paint but it never bothered me and i quite like it. Sure, the wash doesn’t look as good as the walgreens one but it still has the great sculpt and articulation. 9:14 anyone else noticed how smooth that catch was? As always, good video and very enjoyable to watch.

David that was hysterical! You had me laughing out loud multiple times. Great episode mate. I love that you play with & pose your figures and acknowledge how crazy-making a figure avalanche can be; yet still accept it as part of the hobby. Walgreens wins easily for me too. I like the bearded head like you do and I actually don't hate the stretchy fingers; however the stretchy arms beat them every time. I hope you revisit this video when the Byrne era retro costumes come out. You are a dyed in the wool, Marvel comics fan, which makes you so relatable to nut-jobs like me (who at 54 is still spending way too much money on action figures & comic books) even if you are totally wrong about the best era of the X-Men. It's the Byrne/Claremont era obviously. LOL. Jim Lee who? ;-)

Excellent comparison review. I've JUST found your channel and it is just a LOT of fun, so far...! Really enjoying what I've seen. Keep it up! I agree with basically EVERYTHING you stated about BOTH sets of figures... And I don't even remember if there was anything I might not have agreed with, so if there was, obviously it wasn't important, lol.😆 I got my Walgreen's set, and TWO Superskrull BAF sets... One for the Superskrull and another for a standard Skrull soldier. Then I took all the new effects pieces, few though they were, and adapted them for use with my Walgreen's team, to give them a little more bang. It really mattered with Johnny Storm/Human Torch more than the others, because I had picked up a second Walgreen's Reed Richards, awaiting the Johnny Storm figure, in order to swipe the head for a fully powered down look, as well as utilizing flame effects and extra hands, etc., for a semi-flamed Torch look as well. The STUPID stretchy fingers aren't quite as ludicrous looking on the extended arms, once they're painted black to match the classic costume... BUT they ARE STILL STUPID, lol. (I'd imagine that this means we will sadly get a figure of that STUPID Generation X "Skin" character, as he is famous for his absurd hands and lame@$$ ability of stretchy skin... Seriously?!! Flabby extendo skin is a "super power"?!! 😔 ) Normally, I don't double dip on sets, but since I knew I wasn't buying SEVERAL of the Marvel Legends figures for 2020, I thought I'd build a second Skrull and add effects to my classic FF team at the same time, while I had the opportunity... AND the funds. 😅 Additionally, I bought a large, clear plastic punch bowl from the 3rd circle of HELL, aka Wal-Mart, dremeled the bottom circle ridge off, sanded and buffed it smooth & clear, and used it as a huge force field for the Invisible Woman to "project" OVER the FF team, and placed Galactus, and OTHER villains, outside... As if attacking them. Feel free to use the idea if you like!

I actually like them both. Granted we have more accessories from the Walgreen's Fantastic Four than the FF SuperSkrull wave. We did need a Johnny Storm in uniform. Imo Walgreen's Thing is way better than SSw: Thing. Walgreen's Reed over SSW Reed. Walgreen's Sue over SSW Sue. Besides we actually needed a modern version of the FF, and we got it. Fantastic Four is my second favorite Marvel team. I'd like to see a new retro card FF. Fantastic video, David.

I bought 12 Baf waves for $12 from them, got Space Venom, Titus, Sandman, Hulkbuster, Lizard, Thor Ragnarok, Absorbing Man, All Father, Giant Man, Onslaught, Blue Thanos, & Abomination..it was a 3 yr run, 2016-2018, we were driving to 5-7 wal-greens as the pieces were spread out. Thank you for dropping the knowledge they are the same sculpt. I am one of those who cannot find the Walgreens and got the other from BBTS. You crack me up, color me stunned you like the more colorful ones but the Walgreens still win hands down. Oh since you have both can you switch out the hands? can you make the switch on the head sculpt on the invisible woman too? It just occured to me that even though you are leaning toward the Walgreen’s wave, I seem to remember you saying the Walgreen’s version should drop in price. So far the only one that justifies purchasing both, not judging just considering my finances come from the side of I do not have a channel, is Johnny. I have yet to buy Mr. Fingers, Sue may enjoy them but me not so much, and looked forward to this videos take on Mr. Fantastic. I am hoping you are right about the pricing and like your take on Doctor Octopus needing a retro on card version hopefully they do a fantastic four retro wave on card with accessories.

For me bro it's a huge mix. New Sue Storm is better cause you can use the older accessories. Torch? No contest but awesome to have him unpowered. Reed, I'd have to go with the Walgreens one as well as ol Ben. Buuuut on the other hand, New Super Skrull wave Thing is perfect for modding and personalizing. Gave mine a wash on the advice and video tutelage of one Greg Cook and yeah I have to say I look at my newly washed and painted Thing and yeah it makes it something more. I love the Walgreens Thing and because it's one of the many grails out there, a very pricey figure and one I treat extra careful. But once personalised the new one became my favorite. Having the 4 and a cosmic shelf has always been a dream amd now that it's a reality I am just glad I have all.of you and my wife and family to share it all with. Cheers bro

Which set is best 🤔🤔 I personally don’t think there is actually one set that is better than the other 😊 they both have good merits, and they fit together as opposite times, meaning modern and vintage, they are heads and tails of the same coin 😊, so I love the comparison of both eras 👍 but if I was only allowed to own one of both of my sets 😫 ts has to be Walgreens, that’s purely based on my age and my reading of the original F4 comics as a youngster, but love both sets 😁😁

Bearded Reed just doesn't work for me. That said, retro/classic FF is definitely better IMO. But SS thing has that brighter orange color which is great. There was a Fantasticar available at one time too, but I wasn't able to get it at the time. Both green cape dooms are awesome villains!

I don't have that Thing from Walgreens, was sooo hard to find and get. That's why I HATE EXCLUSIVES!! Also Walgreens is the WORST for carrying Marvel Legends! I like the Walgreens one too. I also like the darker wash too, haha haha. Oh, you don't have the retro Thing? I like the newer costume on Sue and I'm torn in the head sculpts. In the comics Sue is strong woman and mother, but also dare I say sexy & beautiful. That is who I want Hasbro to give us. Now for Johnny Storm I think Hasbro should have gave us flames on the hands going up the forearm and flames starting from the feet going up the calves. I think that would be cool because he's starting his Flame On! OK, Reed I like the Walgreens one because of the head sculpt it reminds me of the comics and his accessories. As for the New Retro Fantastic 4 I don't like the Sue Storm, not appealing to the eye and the 2nd Sue is translucent and that is cool. The Johnny's are OK prefer the Human Torch to regular Johnny. The Thing is cool extra head sculpt and extra hands. Mr. Fantastic comes with Lab Coat and extra arms you can swap out.

I haaaaaaate that Johnny Storm head, and I just think he's way too ripped for a guy who just flies around on fire and shooting stuff with fire. He's not super strong or anything... I made my own Johnny Storm out of Mr. Fantastic, with a Steve Rogers head and the flame effects from the Super Skrull Johnny. imgur.com/hc5lEyg (I love the full-on Human Torch figure, but I just always think he looks out of place in the display because he doesn't match the rest of the team.) The Walgreens Torch is wearing a suit, but now mask, so his body is a different color to his unmasked head. Always made sense to me. 🤷‍♂️ I love the Dan Larson head on the Super Skrull Reed. It also lets me make a good Toy Galaxy figure team (Boba Fett, Snake Eyes, Darkhawk, and Dan Larson's version of Darkhawk (Night Thrasher with the bearded Reed head)) XD twitter.com/LordZypher/status/1230627508321759232 But yea, I hope we get LOADS more Fantastic Four stuff (which of course we will, especially now that the MCU movie is finally announced) so we can build up a collection of awesome invisible, stretch, and flame effects to upgrade whatever set of FF figures ends up being the coolest.

Dude as always fantastic points and pictures to go with them. I know what you mean about the Johnny Storm body being too muscular but hey these are comics! Scott Summers can only fire beams out of his eyes and yet artists will often draw him looking like he's about to compete in Mr Olympia. I've never even seen that guy drink a protein shake!
