He worked in ink, watercolor, pencil and oil. Most the painting in the book are oil. There is an entire book of his pencil renderings "Illustration Arcanum" published in the early 90s which you can still find for a pretty penny.

Thanks for the info, I thought it was mainly oil but wasn't too sure so I appreciate the help! Yes I have Frazettas illustration Arcanum! That and living legend are probably my favourites, or maybe sketchbook vol 1! Thanks for watching

I am a fan of Frazetta's work, owned three books from this series, sold them all because - while the art itself is great, the books are amaturishly made and of sub-par quality with crap reproduction quality and questionable editorial choices. Once I got the Taschen's "The Fanfastic Worlds of Frank Frazetta" tome in very large (XXL) format and the "Masterpieces of Fantastic Art" (both are about 14" tall and 2" thick and each weights 10+lbs - and they do justice to Frazetta work by providing superior quality resolution (and color grading) of reproductions, one understands how truly crappy was the quality of those earlier five books... Highly recomment the Taschen books. Cheers!

Thanks for watching and commenting! Yeah I told myself I wouldn't buy the Taschen / Fantastic worlds of Frank Frazetta book because of the price ( not that it isn't worth it, just trying to budget my art book spends that have got out of control! lol) so decided to get the older series bit by bit ( I thought the print quality seemed pretty crisp considering the age of the books I must admit! ). But I do have the Taschen book on order now since they had a sale on their website and I am excited to see it in person, especially with it being so new / high quality print! My issue is with a huge expensive hard back.. I daren't open them in case I damage them haha, where as with these older copies they are already beat up and I am more comfortable 'using' them, having them open to study from etc ( Plus I just love collecting art books! ) I wonder if there are many images in this series of 5 books ( fantastic art of Frank Frazetta) that are not in the Taschen version. Another thing to note, whilst I have no doubt that you will be spot on about the colour accuracy and comparison. I have also heard that a lot of Frazettas paintings, he kept working and re working even after publishing them and changed the colours and stuff etc. Someone mentioned in a video about seeing them in the Frazetta museum and it being a completely different colour again. Pretty nuts really! Thanks again for watching ! :)

Just looked the first book up, sold out on the taschen website $200, not bad. Second hand $500! The second book is $600.
@yoryteperman4297 ай бұрын
I paid $100 for each book ($200 in total) during annual Taschen sale, which the books certainly worth. Once you know what you like, you tend to be aware of what's being or about to be published, and do not miss it. Besides, Taschen has an annual sale when every book is half-price; in fact such sale just finished last week. If you missed out on XXL format - which is the best published, best quality limited numbered edition, Taschen tends to also published a smaller format unlimited edition a couple of years later. It will be cheaper, but will not appreciate and will not be a good investment if that matters to you. Not sure if I would buy such book for $500, but the $100 I paid for it was money well spent /invested ( besides the fact I enjoy these books a lot). Cheers!

Yeah as the previous comment mentioned I actually got mine on the Taschen sale for 50% off, which just ended a few days back, which will be why they sold out of their Frazetta book, I know tons of people bought it. So if you're not in a hurry it's worth doing that. You mentioned the 2nd book being 600, which book are you refering to as I don't think Taschen have a second Frazetta book, I could be misunderstanding what you meant though. Thanks for watching@@GnJs6PackTraining

I believe he is referring to the second book that I mentioned, which is "Masterpieces of Fantastic Art". It is a compendium of various artists, including Frazetta among others like Michael Wheelan and even Moebius. It is a great book in its own right, was published a year or two ago and is indeed sold out as of now.

0:19 + 2:40 + 3:04 ....and on and on. Breaks my heart to see todays artistic censorship. What would Mr. Frazetta have said about us?
@SketchedbySte7 ай бұрын
I know, I wouldn't normally bother, but YT is always hit and miss with what it removes, so ultimately I made the decision to play it safe and blur the pics. I realise I'm probably gonna get a lot of comments about it ( especially in books 3-5 that I recorded as there was tons to censor in those ones! ) and it made the editing process about 10 x longer too, so I hated doing it. But i guess if it ensures the video stays up and is viewable for everyone, hopefully it's worth it. I do completely agree though!

Frank Frazetta is a legendary fantasy artist 🖋️🖊️✏️🖍️ 😺👍. He even created the art works for a Ralph Bakshi movie FIRE AND ICE (1982). 😺👍

Yeah he's great! Is that the animation he did or is that the documentary? I've been wanting to see the frazetta documentary for a while but I can't get hold of a copy! Fantastic art of frank frazetta books 2-5 to come soon :)

TBH, that movie sucked, and I have a Frazetta print hanging in my living room. Can't draw your way out of a bad script.

@@SketchedbySte Fire and Ice was on Amazon Prime not too long ago. I know sometimes the movies become unavailable, but I watched it only a couple months ago. I have Death Dealer. I have some more, but framing the one was like $400 so framing the others suddenly became not that high of a priority haha

HIs son Bill Frazzeta owns a store called Frazettas in a college town in Pennsylvania very close to East Stroudsburg University ive actually been there in my travels and they have billboard size paintings from his father and would put them on the building walls outside .they also sell awesome costumes and is a real Halloween hot spot I would recommend any one passing through the area stop in to see some art first hand up close.
@SketchedbySte7 ай бұрын
That's awesome! Thanks for sharing that info, people have started leaving me some pretty cools facts in the comments that I would have never known before. I will have to look out for it if I am ever in that area travelling! Thanks for watching!

No problem his other Son Frank Frazzeta Jr also owns a small Frazzeta museum not to far from the Brothers store that has lots of the fathers original Paintings. Its only ten minutes away from Bills place in Marshalls creek.@@SketchedbySte

I bought the book series in 1982 I don't have the sketchbook, I'm gonna have to find that one Frazetta was amazing
@SketchedbySte7 ай бұрын
I think the printing still looks pretty good considering the age! Do you have any of the others in the series? The Frank Frazetta sketchbook vol 1 was the first book I bought, without knowing anything about the artist. I got it cheap on amazon as it had just been released, I decided to skip vol 2 of the sketchbook, which I now regret as they are not easy to come by at a reasonable price, they have skyrocketed!
