Love the F4 Poster ❤️ Joseph Quinn & Tom Holland are only 2yrs apart in age, can see them having great chemistry together! Ebon Moss-Bachrach will knock it out of the park as Ben Grimm & actually elevate the character! Vanessa Kirby is a great pick for Sue, can do drama & action; and Pedro is a great solid anchor for the group! Madame Web is currently @16% RT (3.6/10) & 30/100 on Metacritic. Can Sony pls stop making these movies as they unfortunately add to the general overall feeling of superhero fatigue?! Really hope SJ Clarkson isn't badly hurt by this & how do writing duo Burk Sharpless & Matt Sazama keep getting work (Dracula Untold, The Last Witch Hunter, Gods of Egypt & Morbius)?!

The hateful "criticism" of MCU movies, even if it's just referring to a poster or a trailer without even seeing the movie, is why I've deleted all social media. There's only so many negative buzzwords thrown at your face before you call it quits

30:45 OMG I love that you guys are bringing this up. Maybe it’s because I’m in your same age ranges but I agree 1000% about the rose colored glasses about the previous MCU phases. It’s very much so comparable to the Star Wars phenomenon in many ways. I was old enough to remember how much criticism those first 3 phases of the MCU received. So it’s very surprising to hear how people are going out of their way to act like phase 4-5 have shown some significant departure in terms of quality when, in my eyes, it’s about the same. The only difference being the quantity of projects are so high that it makes it harder to appreciate the great stuff. For example: Shang-Chi, Doctor Strange 2, Loki, Werewolf by Night, Spider-Man NWH, Wakanda Forever, Guardians 3 and Holiday Special, What If, Moon Knight, Wandavision, Hawkeye --All of them were really damn good; but yet it feels like everyone on social media wants to spend 100x more time whining about She-Hulk, Secret Invasion, Ant-Man 3, and The Marvels as if Marvel is dying off the cliff all of a sudden. There's a clear imbalance in viewpoints across the fanbase and it's almost petty.

Maybe you mix both the 60s and present in. The F4 and Victor are in the present trying to recreate time travel. The F4 get sent to the 60s in an accident that also gives them their power and they have to find a way back. Victor gets sent back farther and lands in a midevil European country and learns the sorcery needed to live forever.
@legofreak868 ай бұрын
Exactly! I liked the idea that I was hearing that the F4 movie could be a time travel movie, imagine if they travelled to multiple points including the 60s, went back to Ancient Egypt and tangled with Rama Tut or into the far future and met Nathaniel Richards for instance.

The introduction of the Fantastic Four and Doctor Doom in a post-Sacred Timeline multiverse makes perfect sense. Reed and Victor would have been obvious threats to Kang, so prune them or displace them in time. I love the 60s aesthetic. The boldness and optimism, particularly of the Camelot era really suits them. But, maybe it turns out to be where they were put rather than where they're from. Or, maybe the FF were time and dimension travelers rather than space travelers, and that's the flight they went on that resulted in their powers.

I feel that hectors point is valid about the F4 being of today and not the 60s. My counter point to that though is that with the F4 they can do the opposite of what Steve rogers was. Steve was a man out of time and when brought to the present he brought his 40s ideals with him, they changed and altered slightly since he woke up but he was still Steve at his core. With the F4 they can flip and have it where yes they are from the 60s but their ideals and minds are that of the modern day. They come from a time where their intelligence and thoughts and ideas were too radical to the people of that time and they were shunted and disgraced for it. Much like real scientist have been throughout human history. And when they finally get to the modern day it will be as if time caught up with them as opposed to them catching up with time.

It could also create a branch timeline outside the 616, so their presence isn't an issue.

The movie will be partially based on the FF#48 comic from 1966, Doctor Doom is more likely to be introduced, I hope Disney won't mess up the project. I was against ''Redro Rascal'' and all this chronic, ''flatulencial fancasting'' ever since the rumors started to kick in. I liked Krasinski and a few others but not the overall craziness about it. Now all I care about is to watch a good movie with quality storytelling, quality writing, quality everything, a movie worthy of its characters history and legacy. I grew up reading FF comics, they're my favorite superhero team of all time, I mean they're the freakin' founding members of the Marvel Universe ! Mr Pascal will always be compared to the Krasinski cameo but people will forget about it if the movie turns out to be a huge hit.. I hope this flick gets filled with the wonder, energy and excitement about mankind's future that the 60s era brought when this comic was first published. The Fantasticar should look like a bathtub for a while before they change it. Hopefully Willie Lumpkin will be a part of the film looking like Willie Lumpkin, a Stan Lee/Jack Kirby cgi cameo/reference would be more than neat too..
@Hannah-wo9qf8 ай бұрын
My suggestion would be that they will be from the 60s but it’s not about how amazing the 60s are, it’s a subversion of the romanticism you would expect. Reed and the F4 will be too ahead of their time and seen as ridiculous and failures and so they never achieve the reputation that Hank and Howard did, and then eventually even with 60s tech Reed succeeds but it leads them to being stuck in either space or the Negative Zone and so they are just believed to have tragically died or been lost and again not the successful reputation worth remembering. But then when they get to the modern age they actually feel more at home and Reed sees how modern scientists and thinkers have brought society forward and how this is the time where his ideas will be appreciated. They also clearly cast in a way where at some point we will see the kids, so considering what era and what future they want their children to be brought up in could be another reason they decide to stay in modern day and NOT go back. The reverse of Cap where some part of his heart and who he was is always left behind in the past and so he must go back, everyone the F4 loves goes with them into the future. So there is nothing that would continue to pull them into the past and they can choose to stay in the modern day, and it can be a celebration of modern science and intellectual advancement. Plus Doom can still have been a contemporary of theirs from the 60s but because of his fascination with magic he hasn’t aged much over the decades and there is lots you could do with Doom thinking Reed and Sue where dead and then having them show up again. Which could nicely tie into Secret Wars.

I know spending time thinking about how already shot movies would've been better is a waste of time, but I love it haha How can Madame Web have such a great cast and manage to do NOTHING with it, it's insane. In my head the movie would've been an origin story for Sydney Sweeney's Julia Carpenter to become the Spider-Woman of the SSU through the eyes and actions of Madame Web (or drop Madame Web at this point and make it a straight up Spider-Woman movie). Sidney Sweeney as the Spider of the SSU, who fights Venom, Morbius and Kraven would've been a first step to make this mess, that Sony calls a universe, better. But Sony has no clue and seemingly no interest in what there are doing so they keep drooling out those things to keep the SM rights and ride the Superhero thing, it's so annoying, exhausting and sad.

I don't see why having them from the 60s is such a problem. I haven't heard a good argument about it. It could be a parallel universe set in the 60s. That explains them being missing in the timeline. The whole movie could be set in that universe and they could easily have their home universe destroyed by an incursion, and they land here now after that. Easy

I get the super chat saying that Marvel Studios used to cast lesser known Actors. Pedro is on his hype train for years now, Ebon is hyped af right now and Joseph is still loved from Stranger Things, the only one who isn't on a hype train right now is Vanessa Kirby but she's been a fancast for years. Marvel does that with directors as well, instead of looking for the right one, they tend to hire the ones who are hyed, Chloé Zhao comes to mind. She is a great director, but she made Eternals because Marvel was like "oh shit an Oscar-winning director for one of our movies?! HELL YEA!", not because she was the right fit for the movie. I criticize MCU projects a lot, not because I hate them, but because I want to love them. I liked Love&Thunder and The Marvels, Marvels isn't a good movie, you can see how too much studio interference destroyed every bit of creativity, directorial vision or risk, they streamlined it into insignificance because they're so afraid to have a another critical and box office flop. So criticizing the MCU is the right thing to do, talking about what's going wrong is the only way for Marvel to learn. If we're just happy with everything that comes out it'll go downhill. That being said criticizing doesn't mean being a hater, it doesn't mean being an asshole on social media or insulting people involved, I feel like I need to say this because criticism and hate get mixed up a lot which is annoying. I like the FF cast, I don't feel Joseph Quinn as Johnny that much but except for Stranger Things I haven't really watched him. I guess Johnny in my mind is still the arrogant, good-looking Chris Evans Torch to me and Joseph Quinn doesn't feel like that at all, but let's see I'm happy if he will be able to make it his own thing.

I love the casting of the fantastic four. My only concern is Pedro Pascal. My only concern with him is going to sound so stupid probably but, it is his age. He is 49 years old and is turning 50 this year. Just for the sake of longevity as the character of Reed Richard's and Reeds romantic relationship with Susan Storm one would think you would want someone who is in their mid to late 30s when starting out playing Reed Richard's. Or at most early 40s who can pass off as mid to late 30s. Marvel is going to want the fantastic four to be around for a long time, at least 10 years like they had RDJ for 11 years and Chis Evans for 8 years. And still have the likes of Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk and Don Cheadle as Rhodie/War Machine today. That is probably one of the reasons why they went for a Peter Parker Spiderman who was only 15,16 years old just starting out as Spiderman so they could have Tom Holland who was a little older than that and could play him for possibly 10+ years and not a Peter who was already out of his own in his crappy apartment, working at the Daily Bugle for J3. You can't really do that with someone like Pedro who is already 49 about to be 50. Someone like SLJ as Nick Fury worked because Nick is much more of loner Subtle action sort of side/main character in the MCU unlike Reed Richard's and the rest of the FF4 will be. Like I said before, this also factors into if you are going to have Reed and Susan be a romantic couple ,which you have to, and they end up getting married and they have a kid and Pedro as Reed is 57,58 years old by the time that happens. And age gap between Pedro and Vanessa Kirby is 14 years. I do not know what the exact age difference between Reed and Susan is typically in the comics but I can't see it being that big of a gap. Maybe 8 years max would make any sense considering Vanessa Kirby is 35 years old currently. I know this sounds so stupid but it is literally my only concern about the casting of the FF4, everyone else I have zeros issues or concerns with what so ever.😅

I love you guys, and I applaud taking a stand against the disastrous Anti-intellectualism growing in our culture, but the naive presentism I am hearing from Hector (who I admire and appreciate GREATLY) is problematic. Do you really believe that being born say around 1990 automatically guarantees that you are more advanced than if you were born in 1920? In 1964, many U.S. workers could make a living for a family of four. Unions were strong. Citizens were much more well-read -- do you think that, in our culture today, people are more well-read? I can list dozens of other aspects of our society that are seriously lacking in comparison to earlier times. Confusing being clever and technically more sophisticated with WISDOM, we Gen-Xers and Millennials wrongly think we are sharper and more advanced, but things aren't getting better, really. Sure, our technology is superior, and we do enjoy far more abundant opportunities than did earlier times to POTENTIALLY improve the quality of life. But we grow more apthetic, and frankly, more cruel, both as individuals and as a society. We grow colder. Do you really think that the average United States person today understands the technology they use? Or are they just more familiar to be pragmatic with things, not really understanding the world? And how do you qualify advancing? THe Fantastic Four mean HOPE in the Marvel Universe. Hope springs eternal, so the time they come from isn't as important as who they are. They are the Future Foundation, and the future of solving problems depends more on the courage to challenge ideas and less on the age one belongs to. We have people who lived THOUSANDS of years ago who are still "cutting edge," still challenging us today. If we read more, maybe we would appreciate the unused treasure we stand on.The FF being from the Camelot-era 60s and then time-lost could be a great angle. (Time-lost because of Doctor Doom maybe? When confronted by the reality of a future of Kangs he spies via HIS Time Platform, maybe "hope" to Doom is sending a guilty family of explorers--guilty because of 31st-century Nathaniel RICHARDS--ahead to get Galactus' Ultimate Nullifier to rid reality of the problem?). Think of the Four sent ahead to a dying Multiverse ... they could very well be what Sam Wilson's Avengers need to jumpstart things and think outside the dark box of Incursions and God-Emperors and Battleworld! Look what was going on in the early 60s. Civil rights breakthroughs. Planning to go to the Moon. Avoiding nuclear war. Marginalized people standing up to be recognized. Women are about to challenge the status quo on their statuses and sexuality in colossal, earth-shattering ways. And now? Yeah, we TALK a lot about advancing, but in many ways, we see the horrific news of the day (should I list the terrible aspects of our world?) and shrug and turn away helpless, and distract ourselves in our own interests crafting our little fiefdoms in the world, our little Latverias, safe and shut in and solipsistic. No, we need the Fantastic Four! We need to hope again. We need to really THINK DIFFERENTLY again. We need to talk with one another again as a human family despite our squabbles and recognize we are a family. We need to listen to each other actively again. No, I am good with the Kennedy era, even if mythologized, being the launching pad of the FF into the MCU. And no thank you to this being yet another universe. 616-Strange told 838-Reed Richards, "Fantastic Four... didn't you guys track in the 60s?" How would he know that if Earth-616 didn't have a version of the First Family also, the one featured on this 1964 Valentine's Day card with the LIFE magazine taken from December 63? I am fine with Reed, Doom, and Ben at college in 1940, learning from great minds like Werner Heisenberg, Pascual Jordan, Wolfgang Pauli, Paul Dirac, Enrico Fermi, Edward Teller, J. Robert Oppenheimer, and Albert Einstein. Not too shabby a group, huh? I would delight in seeing Reed inspire or teach a young Hank Pym. Give us a montage of their first adventures in 61, 62, and 63, facing the Mole Man, the Wizard, exploring the ocean with Sue's forcefield instead of submersible (and spied by a hidden Talokonil mutant ruler). Set it all to 'I Want To Hold Your Hand" by the Fab Four. And then, show us why the FF were missing in action all the years that followed. Have Doom kidnap them to Latveria. Have Doom, the best student of Cogliostro, show them his greatest invention: the Time Platform we've seen repeatedly throughout the Multiverse Saga (LOKI, MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS, QUANTUMANIA). Have Doom blame Reed Richards for his carelessness in the 1960 rocketship adventure with poor shielding that deformed poor Ben Grimm for life. Then have Doom reveal what his time journeys and viewings have shown him, the 31st-century fruit of "Mister Fan-TAS-tic"s hubris: Nathaniel Richards, his descendant, using Doom's Time Platform to make a Dynasty of Kangs and ruin the Multiverse. It's all Richards' fault! And then have Doom manipulate the three against the one, to go on a mission to an alternate future where they will acquire the one device that can unravel this terrible future founded in the Fantastic Four -- the Ultimate Nullifier. You don't need Doom to be the main villain of THE FANTASTIC FOUR movie to have him initiate that. But you set Doom up to be what he truly is: the GOAT of all supervillains. Maybe we see the older Doom just two months before in THUNDERBOLTS and the end killing the Sentry and hailed by Earth as a new Iron Man, creating a world like ours, mangled like his face and psyche? And you have the FF warned off by the Watcher who, not unlike a Gandalf-figure, sends the family on a safer path, one that eventually gets the Four to Battleworld... And Doom, fresh out of Ultimate Nullifiers, bides his time in Latveria eventually settling on a more uncontrollable means to obliterate all Kangs: preventing the suicide of the Scarlet Witch (AVENGERS V). Anyway, too much. Hope can come from earlier times, forgotten wisdom. Please don't forget that. Hector! You three are great! Thank you for this sharing!

I understand where you guys are coming from about overreacting to the current MCU, but you gotta admit Thor 4 was a trainwreck. And Ant Man wasnt great either. Marvel's was good. Secret Invasion was really bad too...MCU has been a bit inconsistent lately.

Doing a time piece for the FF after Captain America and Captain Marvel just comes off a bit bland. I can picture the same type of Disney jokes “oh what is this pop culture reference etc”

In what world is Pedro Pascal considered brown 😂, he’s just another white guy, with a Latino seasoning! That’s like saying Anya Taylor Joy & America Ferrera both being considered brown. Ezekiel actor isn’t Latino he’s French-Algerian

Multiverses and time travel have caused the downfall of the MCU and I don't think even DP can save it. Introducing multiverses was a slippery slope and the MCU has fallen.

Umm Doom is in Deadpool 3. Re watch the trailer. There's buzz Julian McMahon is back as Doom.

Well, sure, but those are just references to past versions and not who's going to be Doom in the MCU going forward
