I think it’s a tribute to Paul Gilbert…listen to the intro riff of “I own a building” by Paul Gilbert…same kind of feel and motion in the opening line…and I know Matteo is a huge pg fan. Great video reaction!

He has a new studio version of this with his regular trio including Riccardo and John-Leuc. I was expecting some analysis of the modes and scales he was using which are really interesting. Also he's playing a baritone guitar tuned 4 steps down, so he's playing positionally in key of A, but it's tonally in the key of E.

I apologize in advance for the poor video quality but I recorded it years ago when we couldn't see each other in person. “Paul Position” may be a play on words of the term “Pole Position” which refers to the fastest qualifier for an auto race and he used Paul to honor Paul Gilbert?

pole positoin - F1 - Nascar-Indycar - :-) He is probably revering to someone close to him (Band, of family). All his tracks are humble and he is a beast!! (pole, the fastest car on qualification, which can start at the front) Only a guess, I can be way off..

I love MM!! This tune is really good, but I'm struggling with the title. Paul Position? He'll be getting questions about the title in every interview he has. He is so cute 😍 if I was 35 years younger.......😂😂😂

The title of the song is a dedication to Paul Gilbert, Matteo's favorite guitarist.

Its a word pun between Pole and Paul (Gilbert) that's pronounced similar. The meaning would be that Paul is in Pole position (among the guitarists) but this is a my ipotetic idea
