Although I almost never go to concerts I have been lucky enough to see both Matteo Mancuso and Paul Gilbert live: I won't explain that they sound wonderfully good, everyone knows it. I will simply underline that they are two pleasant, smiling people, with a friendly approach, full of inventiveness, who dialogue with the other musicians with every note, who show no trace of stardom and who involve the audience with the strength of their music. I'm also very curious about the guitar: what sound will the young but immense Matteo produce from it?

I've been lucky enough to see both Paul and Matteo live, and meet them and hang out with them at guitar camps. Not only are they legendary musicians, they are super nice in person! I've got to jam with Paul on stage three times in his "Massive jams" where he trades licks with 150-200 guitar players in a row, which lasts for hours and hours. I wish I could have jammed with Matteo. Someday maybe...it would be my dream come true.

In my youth I was fortunate to witness Paul's tribute with Y.R.O. 40 years later I realize this isn't full circle, but an evolving thread that one should hope lasts well beyond their lifetime - as I'm sure Bach could never have imagined Yngwie some 300 years later. And there is no more worthy guitarist to carry this tradition than Matteo. Amazing as always!
