I owned three, a male and two females. They are very loyal, and are never a nuisance, even when not fully trained. What I love more about them is they are resistant to many dog ailments and can tolerate high South African temperatures. All this breed needs is good nutrition, fair play time and love, that's all. Also good with kids, and are not easily irritated by small kids.

I accidentally adopted an abandoned pup at 4 days old (accidentally because the person who owned the apartment it was left in gave it to me because she had no idea what to do with it and originally told me it was a pit). Come to find out through DNA it is a boerboel. Best DOG EVER!

And we had a cat that grew up with our dog, the cat would go and play with the dog outside and they would sleep in the sun together. Sometimes my dog would even groom the cat. My dog also never bit a child even if she didn't know them just introduce new people to the dog

I got my girl 5 weeks ago at 7 weeks old. In five weeks she’s gone from 12 kg’s to 26kg’s. Her paws are huge. She’s very muscular and I’ve had to buy her a new collar to fit her growing neck. She’s magnificent to look at. The vet believes she’s going to reach the weight and size of a male. She’s extremely smart, follows all commands already, very obedient and loving. She very loyal to me, needs a lot of my time and wants to be close to me, even sitting on my feet if I’m doing dishes but she can be destructive if I’m too busy on a particular day. I’m attack training her at the moment and she’s already so strong I’m struggling to push her back. She knows her word to stop but when she’s done, she’s done. She’ll just flop down and that’s it, she can’t be forced to keep going. She makes me so happy, I love her so much. I live on property which is perfect for her but my biggest fear is her being bitten by a snake, they are all deadly here where I live.

У меня была собака- южно-африканский бурбуль(девочка) Аджилина-"Аджи"прожила с нами 11 лет. Лучше нашей ласточки никого нет, не было и не будет. Боже- она была такая грозная для других( любую собаку - особенно больших размеров она подавляла- хоть ротвейлер, кони корсо, мастифов, овчарок. Люди всегда шли аккуратно, не делали резких движений под её внимательным, не мигающим взглядом. И вообще у неё были всё повадки львицы. А с нами: со мной, женой, дочкой она была щеночком, зайчиком- позволяла делать с собой, что угодно. Если жена в порыве нежности слишком сильно укусит за брыльку- Аджи тоненько взвизгнет( это при том что её громкий низкий рык знали всё в округе) и со скуляжом бросится ко мне искать защиты и наоборот, если я её слишком затискаю в порыве нежности, она бежит жаловаться к жене или дочке. Больше никогда бурбуля не возьму- порода великолепная - лучше породы нет( она сочетает в себе все лучшие качества собаки), но второй такой собаки не будет никогда- Аджилина забрала наши сердца, ушла на небо и оставила нас одних. До встречи наш Ангелочек!

Do your research! Large dominant power breeds are nothing to play with. Consider the cost of insurance, professional training, shots, top quality food, time for socialization, exercise, and on and on. Learn everything you can about canine behavior before pulling the trigger.

D C - Get the shots bro. Yes, there are side effects from certain shots given too early, especially for smaller breeds, but you can Google literally anything an find want you want. You can Google the negative side effects of drinking water and something will come up bro. I had one dog cost my mom and dad thousands of dollars in vet bills when I was a teen due to Parvovirus, which can easily be prevented now with a simple vaccine. I don’t even know if the vaccine was available then, but if I could go back in time and get it I would do it in a heart beat. Most people get shots the first year and stop afterwards without any issues. Do that at the very least. All of my dogs got their shots, top notch training, were raised on raw/rare meat and supplements, and are 100% healthy. When was the last time you actually met someone who’s healthy dog over 20lbs had terrible side effects from a vaccine?

Growing up as a kid the only shot from my recollection was for rabies. Now, good lord, I dont know if I have that many fingers n toes to count the shots they push. Doggie flu ? Apparently that's a thing. I just dont believe it. I stay away from dog parks. I have two dogs so they are good as far as having an play mate. One is a female pitbull the other is an crazy mix of what I think is pitbull, mastiff boxer thing, Frankenstein if you will so you can imagine with me living in NYC how these jokers get when I used to show up to dog parks. D C - I am 44, so we are part of the same generation. When we were kids people weren’t ordering dogs from around the globe like fast food and the only thing you had to worry about was rabies and Parvo. There are more shots now because more people have dogs with various diseases. I have 4 dogs of my own, two Argentine Dogos and two American Bullies.

Its against the animal law to cut their tales but humans still do it. These K9's are beautiful the Boerboel is South Africa's pride. But shelters are so overwhelming full and people still breed.

These dogs are so beautiful, and the ones I met in South Africa were amazing and friendly to people and other dogs. If American breeders weren't trying so hard to turn them into another generic asshole breed with unstable temperament and aggression issues, I'd be tempted to get one.

ActiveAnimals Thats why we got ours imported from South Africa, she is an incredible dog , loves people and all animals and is why she is my service dog . It was pricey but well worth it .

Buy one from SAfrica - on the exchange rate it will be a fair price I'm sure. But you must buy 2 - it's cruel for them not to have a mate. There are SABBS registered breeders in the USA. sabbs.org/ Try....😏

Get one from South Africa broer (when u in SA u can find out what broer means) then u know u definitely getting a genuine one. Plus our currency the rand is just pathetic against the dollar and the pound.
