Tuesday. We're here for you. The fact that you were a member of the MWO community, suffering with us, was just bonus points that made our, your, community love you even more. You've had my sub since you first started MWO, when I used to trawl the forums. While I haven't picked up MWO in almost a year because of creative differences with Paul and Russ. PGI would be better off, in my opinion, with the leadership disbanded. They're the ones poisoning the pool. The artists have done a great job, the coders have tried their best. PGI is fucking up on a fundimental game design level. There's one thing that seems the most appropriate for this. #SaveMWO.

It's the fact that Sean, PGI's official streamer who has a PGI tag in the game (or did), was the first person to say he doesn't have a module set per Mech and is thus, according to Russ, a cheapskate. So even PGI's official streamer doesn't have unlimited access to modules/Mech's/C-Bills/MC... WTF?

I will say this. I originally came to your channel for MWO stuff because you had a vary hilarious amount of content on the game, and one of those videos was were you created a Spider Urbanmech, and that still to this day gets me to laugh. However, as someone who played the game in closed beta, I had originally been happy to see MechWarrior come back in some form, and I won't lie when I say I enjoyed the game despite like of single player; however, the game has not been friendly to me since I've not spent a cent on the game at all, and because of that, I've never once felt like I could explore the contents of the game to the fullest extent, nor be a part of the community that much because I'd simply have to spend money to speed the processes, and given all the stuff I've been seeing going on, the last thing I really wanted to do was give money to people who truly didn't embrace the MechWarrior community or make the game what it could potentially be: An awesome online mech simulator game. I've been wanting for years a MechWarrior game like the ones we've had in the past, so despite the good foundations built in MWO, the good have been forced to change radically at times, which frankly made me fall into the group of people who waited to see if they would make the game better. Seeing this happen to the MechWarrior series is beyond tragic for me, and especially since these are the people making the next entry. Perhaps I'll give MechWarrior Living Legends a go, and hope that MechWarrior 5 isn't what I fear it will be like. I ultimately hope a gaming company who takes interest in this series looks to take up the chance to make a great official mech game someday and bring out the amazing potential that the MechWarrior series truly has. I just miss good MechWarrior.

Amen brother. I get a strong sense that Russ and pgi feel entitled. mwo has always been expensive but now the hard event reward nerfs, increased grind and releasing an unfinished skill tree has put it into clear focus. pgi feels they can take without giving. truth is it's not even a give and take relationship. I'm a customer. if i don't like the product i leave... so long pgi. to hell with Russ, his game and his entitlement.

I quit MWO after they nerfed the Timberwolf to a point where it was unplayable. I played the Timberwolf since MW2, since I was a child, I literally grew up in that Mech. It was the swiss army knife of Mechs, I mastered several loadouts, from close combat to long range I could do it all with my Timby. Over the years in MWO the Timberwolf got hit by a lot of nerfs, but I was piloting it like it was my own body, I was realy good with it, I could always make it work again. But not this time. It died, they killed it. Like youd kill a cowboys horse. Thats how I quit this game...

Man, sorry to see you go. Your vids were some of the things that made me start playing. I'm still completely new, but it seems to me that the real drive behind this skill tree is to drive up player count. By smacking the old players with the grind stick again. Not exactly the way to reward loyalty, but if you were dead set on the #1 problem being low active players, maybe you'd be blind enough to just "know what's right". Any rate, good luck, and thanks for all the laughs!

I have 56 mechs in my stable, getting a 35M refund from the module crap. I constantly sell my mechs and rebuy them later on. If I do that now, I'm going to have to completely regrind those C-Bills and XP again. I run lore builds constantly, and those are getting nerfed due to quirks getting slashed. The only reason I'm not as salty as the dead sea is because of the fact that I've been waiting for 3068 tech for years. That's literally it. I just want to have some fun with new tech, and they're trying to ruin it by releasing the skill tree in its current state, and calling me a goddamn cheapskate. Dammit PGI, stop it.

All I can say is that I'm glad my tournament winnings paid back all of the cash that I put into this game buying 'mech packs because now I have no legitimate feelings of losing money by not playing.

I quit playing a year ago. I just could not justify spending hundreds of dollars on a single, badly managed game. I honestly think their (PGI's) biggest downfall was charging exorbitant sums for everything that wasn't FTP. If they had dropped their prices, a lot more people would have paid a few bucks and gotten into the game. It would have been way more accessible to the average gamer, and drawn a much bigger player base, which would have more than made up for the lower prices. The pay wall killed MWO.

In response to the feedback, they have revised the skill trees: There are now more nodes with less benefit per node, all Cbill cost of nodes have been removed, respecs are free, and it's now a lot less skill point efficient to boat one weapon type. What this (in theory) should do: Effectively make weapon boating obsolete, meaning Ghost Heat no longer has to exist, make builds more varied, make more mechs viable for play, and force people to sacrifice a lot in order to specialize, also it's easy to get into as a newer player due to the removal of Cbill costs and free respecs. I think it's a generally positive change, Thanks for contributing to the delay so we didn't have to launch with it.

I've less an issue with the XP for levelling or to an extent the cbill cost to level but more concerned over a new mech being so much worse than a mastered mech. It bodes ill for new players getting hammered by mechs that are just so much better than what they are able to use. Being a casual player I want to play to have fun so if my partially mastered mechs aren't able to let me at least compete then I won't have much fun.

On the plus side, Warframe and World of Warships grinding doesn't seem too bad anymore.

For me (I only have 7 mechs and will get about 80 mil back from modules), this patch would only make the game more enjoyable. It gets rid if the stupid rule of 3 which effectively meant I lost 2 mechbays (luckily I was wise enough never to spend money on his game), and would add some limited customisation while getting rid of the god-awful pilot tree. Before that podcast I was somewhat looking forward to the patch and what I might put in those two mechbays, but now I am simply filled with despair and intend to quit for good. After sitting through over an hour of waffle late at night, interspersed with TheB33f's trolling (thank goodness someone was able to have fun), which was supposed to be Russ desperately trying to convince us to stay after Blockpirat's video, I made the decision to leave. They dismissed So1ahma's well-thought-out suggestion (which was much better than the garbage the entire PGI team came up with after months of working full-time on it) on the grounds it promoted boating, even though it was clearly explained in his post how it didn't (thereby revealing they'd only glanced at it), and they even had the nerve to claim they'd spent hours looking at it and discussing it in detail. They largely ignored people who pointed this out, but eventually paused mid- waffle to tell us that we were wrong (who needs justification anyway?) They insulted their players (or 'customers' as PGI prefers to call them) and, deeply smugly, said 'change is difficult for them', a classic bullshit argument to avoid constructive criticism (and like so many things, PGI weren't able to come up with it in their own). They lied about locust agility quirks, something anyone could look up and which has massively nerfed locusts in the last 2 iterations of the PTS (about -50% acceleration/deceleration for the 1V), and something which I have been loudly wailing about on r/OutreachHPG for ages, yet locusts would still turn like unquirked 40-Yonkers of someone hadn't asked Kanajashi to mention it. This was in the stream were Russ was supposed to be making broad concessions to get people to stay/ come back, yet instead he attempts to use the age-old trick of gaslighting to convince us, using a minor C-Bill reduction as bait. So me quitting isn't because I think I won't enjoy the game; it's because I don't want to be anywhere near devs who engage in manipulative speech and behaviours and misinformation Stalin would have been proud of. It's me doing my bit to help PGI go bust (which is inevitable anyway), for the greater good. I sincerely hope some more reputable game company come and fill the void left by MWO; after all we do so love what this game could have been. RIP in peace, MWO. #neverforget

TBH I won't really be affected much by this. Especially with the rebate. I've "only" mastered 38 mechs. And I only play like half of those. Not to brag but I've got a bajillion modules and will have about 260 million cbills right before the patch. So I'm going to be running mastered mechs right off the bat. I just don't like the tree itself. But it's not going to deter me from playing. I can completely understand the frustration had by many though. Because many people don't have 100-200 modules.

As a politician, I see Russ needing to be more non-committal and never verify anything. He is suffering from foot in mouth thought. When you come back, break out the spider with two TAGs. Someone or more may be running LRMs, but you may not make as much as you did in the past. With all the modules I got, hell I will be mastering about 30 more mechs, still I know a few people that will only be mastering half the number of mechs that they have mastered now. I see I was not the only one running an unmastered mech in the PTS.

I can almost see the staff at Catalyst Game Labs(owners and publishers of the Battletech franchise who are working together with PGI to some extent) collectively facepalm over such a monumental PR SNAFU. Hell, Harebrained Schemes and especially Mitch Gitelman(lead Dev of the old MechCommander PC) are probably laughing their butts off... they are, after all, bringing out a new Battletech game, simply called Battletech, which is very similar to MechCommander, only turn based. The more people, especially actual Battletech diehards, leave MWO behind, the more people will probably look and invest into their game to get their Battletech fix. I, meanwhile, will miss my Mad Dog and Kodiak... but I have absolutely no intention of playing MWO ever again, not with this disaster of a skilltree. I like my varied loadouts and hate being forced into specialising my mech into one or 2 weapons if I don't want to run around in a heavily gimped Mech. No thanks Russ, and fuck you too!

I agree with a good bit of what was said but the bit about the community having to scream to stop X, Y and Z is assumptive. Most people reacted like adults and gave feedback without threatening to quit and or screaming about the injustice of it all. We have nothing to back up the assertion that they wouldn't have made said changes based off of simple feedback. Which I might ad is what a company should do. Come up with idea, sink considerable time/effort/money into said idea and then present it. Listen to feedback and adjust. To bitch about them adjusting things/dropping plans they had already sunk a lot of effort into just comes from a place of frustration. And of course some of the changes came near the last moment. Most companies don't just scrap something based off of early criticism/whining. Esp if they think it's a good idea. But if they listen in the end...

I feel like this is a good change, a change that needed to be done...the old Skill tree was boring and tasteless, and gave no reason to care. It was bland. The last part they needed to fix was the skill tree....But I do agree on your part that they could have transitioned A LOT FUCKING BETTER....and we could maybe just get free full skill upgrades for mechs we already mastered...but I do believe this is for the betterment of the game in the long haul...but if people leave...it is totally understandable...but I have some mechs to grind...which I do not mind doing tbh. I get to go through all the mechs I bought and I get to re-level them, and have fun with them. Try new things on them, and see how effective they are under this new system....I mean, am I the only one not complaining about HAVING to play the game.....Like, playing the game is what it is meant for....and also as well, now I do not have to buy 3 variants to master a mech, I can spend time on the mech I bought the chassis for in the first place.....but I do agree, us whales get fucked up....but whatever. I must say, for those with 300+ mechs, try to think of SPtree like all those mechs you have without engines and without modules that you NEVER PLAY, Sell them off for christ sake and level the ones you actually want to play 1st. Only leave the game if you think you might spend more money on more mechpacks if you stay, otherwise stay and get some of your money back in trying something new on a few of your favourite mechs. uninstalling is just shooting yourself in the foot unless you dont trust yourself not to buy more MC/mechpacks. When 3.1 launched and our mechs got stuck in matches so we couldn't play for MANY hours Russ achknowledges theres a problem after a few hours on TWITTER, then a few minutes later tweets, "cyclops new pre-order mech pack coming soon!" before tweeting us "they're uncovering the issue and working on a fix" That and things like the dropdeck mech select bug causing you to relog, the new 4.0 dropships breaking your legs bug and many otherbugs they refuse to achknowledge let alone address is why I hope they run out of money before they can make mw5 and have to sell it and let someone else (hopefully like Blizzard) make it instead and why I wont spend money on this ALPHA PHASE after 6 years product. Tuesday your Frozen parody cover will be hard for anyone on the internet to ever beat for me, You released it at a dark time in my life and shone some light into the darkness for me, for that I will always be thankful and greatful you are my favourite MWO celebrity Theb33f being a close 2nd. 9+ months without playing MWO on my end. Kinda really starting to find less reason to come back. If this skill tree system goes live as is...yeah more reason for me to not go back. It would be great in a single player game to make your playthrough more unique and all, but in MWO...it just won't work honestly since the game changes with the meta and builds with each new mech release. The cost vs time is super inefficient, especially for those that have a ton of mechs. The idea though of only having to buy one mech now if you just want That one mech, thats great, less cbills spent in the long run, but on the other hand its looking quite frustrating because of the players who already exist over the years. I myself have like....80+ mechs bordering on 90? I honestly can't tell you how many I mastered fully. But as is I won't even have enough cbills to master no more than 10 of them most likely if I was to play with the changes to come.

Sorry to see you go, I do like your M.W.O vids. I understand why you and other contributors are leaving, but I wish you guys had waited until it went live and it could be used 12 v 12 . Do I think it will make any difference, probably not, but I still think you should have stayed. I personally think the new tech is going to screw over the franchise far more than this latest disaster, which I think is the least worse of their attempts to change the game. You know, everything PGI tries to do, add, fix their game is always met with outrage, by a very vocal minority. I love this game. Not because it is perfect, not because it is the best slow paced, tactical, f2p shooter out there. World of Tanks and War Thunder are both "Smart man's Shooter's" int heir own respect. MWO, has big stompy mechs and an unprecidented level of customization with each mech. It offers a unique experience that I prefer. The player base more often than not knows what it is doing, they bitch and complain less. and gianty stompy mechs and they kinds of battles this game offers interest me. The maps suck, no one at PGI understands how to design a map, but everytime they try to learn and change the maps; they aren't met with constructive criticism, but volatile disdain. What do they learn? How do they grow? How does this behaviour give us, the life blood of MWO, the players, a better game. The shouting and protesting isn't about making a better game, but making you feel better about what you put into the game. If you are so insecure about what you put in, then don't play. If you play this game, and like it, i.e. spent lots of time and/or money into the game then, before you shout at PGI everytime they try to address what their game lacks and where it isn't as good as it could be, take a breathe and really think about what it means for the game, not your bottom line. This game will get better over time, but the community has to be open to drastic changes, and tenacious in the face of those changes. Look at world of tanks, its has been around for almost 7 years. They didn't even have a true physics system when the game released. It wasn't until like 6.0 that the invisible walls went away and you could actually ram tanks. It wasn't until 8.0 that you had true physics and momentum wasn't really implemented until the last 6 months, in the 9.0 versions. The community has no faith in PGI, despite the fact that for better or for worse, they have made a game that has lasted years and atm is still strong. It can bring in new players and honestly I see the skill tree system as better not worse for new players and here is the rub of it. A single node on the skill tree is an immediate and tangible bonus. Yes the difference between a fresh mech and a trained mech is huge, but unlike before where you needed an extra 12 million cbills on top of the cost of the mech just to play it decently, with the higher granularity, every few games you play that mech will have the xp and cbills to gain a few percents here and there. I have read many opinions and given them the grains of salt they deserve, but very few, even the level headed ones understand the complexity of a game like MWO. I hear things like getting rid of quirks will make bad mechs worse and good mechs better, but that isn't true. They are moving quirks into the hands of the player. Honestly, after 3-6 months of playing around with it, I think the Skill tree system alone will shake up the meta, at least as far as which mechs are preferred. IS mechs have better mobility than clan mechs. Clan mechs have better total weapon space. IS mechs might need a few baseline quirks to bring them in line with clan tech, but with the player able to choose which quirks their mech has, the player will get more out of that mech and it will generally perform better at all levels of play. For example, lets say you are good at sniping. PPC/Gauss/AC2/ER LL are all you like using. Mechs with high hardpoints, and lots of weapon space are the mechs you favor. Though there are mechs like that which have bad quirks for that play-style. If you could morph those quirks to fit the weapon systems you favor and the intangibles of that play-style, you now have 1 more mech that you can play well and enjoy playing. Even if that mech is shit in the "meta" if you do well in it and you enjoy it, it is a good mech. Right now, mechs are either really good or really bad, what the Skill tree does is bring more mechs toward the middle. Also if you look at the it, the mechs that beneift the least from the non-weapon quirks are 75-80 ton heavies. The mechs that need the least buffs to be competitive. All in all, there is ultimately only one way to know what will happen. The Skill tree is to large an overhaul and change to ever accurately predict anything. Some of those out there will be right, but if you throw enough shit at the wall some of it will stick. We must play it, vet it, test it, and use it and see where the meta is after the dust has settled. Where I see so many people going woe is me, I look at this as an opportunity for the game to improve, and many mechs that you don't see to become common place on the field.

I have two accounts. one is a legendary founder inner sphere account and the other is my my clan account. So I have playing this game since the closed beta. This is nothing new. Every time there is a change implemented, a small group of people will start saying that their never going to play the game again. I'm sure some of them will keep their word but I don't pay it no mind. The ones like me who are Battletech/MechWarrior fans will stick with it. The great thing about PGI, is that they listen to their customers... The bad thing about PGI, is THAT THEY LISTEN TO THEIR CUSTOMERS.
@FantasticTuesday7 жыл бұрын
Vincent, you have your head in the sand. Those people have been steadily leaving. The game will still be running for the next few years but you'll just have to put up with even worse queue times than we currently have with our barely viable population count.
@conanthegamer7 жыл бұрын
I see what's going on but the game is still going and yes it may come to an end someday (maybe soon). But they added 3rd person view, everyone was going to leave. When they reduced the c-bills awarded, everyone was going to leave. When they added weapons modules, everyone was going to leave. This is SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) whenever PGI makes a change to the game. I've been playing this game since 2012 and have seen it go through many changes, each one that supposedly would end the game and it has kept going. So I'll wait and see what happens. My gut feeling is that their going to do (like every other change in the game) the changes and then adjust them until they feel right.

So strange that all of these weird quitting videos are coming out before the actual changes appear and they can be properly evaluated on the live server. Honestly the new system is going to be better for new players that the game desperately needs. I cringe every time I have to tell a new player that they have to buy the same mech 3 times, and then oh god trying to explain the module system. as for vet players we are used to this old system, we have forgotten how trash it was. The new system is far cheaper than fully specing out a mech (buying 3 mechs, then 3-4 modules) and you get more choice instead of just slapping on cool down, range, radar dep modules and calling it good. Anyway its game doesn't matter anyway.
@FantasticTuesday7 жыл бұрын
It's not odd at all. At this point us quitters couldn't care less if PGI caves and doesn't push this to live. Their reputation is in tatters from this debacle and we are exhausted from trying to stop PGI playing with road traffic.

Jax Down you only have to buy a module 1 time. After you have what you want you don't sink cbills. With the new system you have to buy everything over each time. The new system is of little benefit to costs. And new players will be at a severe disadvantage. But ignorance is bliss I guess.
@garylimrongwei23787 жыл бұрын
Imagine you paid so much money for a game and invested so much time into it that the hours you spend is a 4-digit number. Then the devs come up with a new system that negates all of that. Thats why people are quitting
@sorbicsagor50807 жыл бұрын
Mgeez, I'm not happy that existing skilled mechs aren't getting steeply discounted skills. That said you're only looking at a small piece of the picture and expecting everyone else to do as you do. Not everyone wants just 1 module. For new players/new mechs the new system (monetarily) is fine and not having to buy 3 of each mech is a BIG advantage.

wanna know what i dont understand? Here's this community contributor of sorts, going on about how garbage a new system is blah blah blah. Thing is, and most people dont understand this, is that this is sort of a new beginning to MWO. A soft restart. Everyone has to remaster everything again, not that big of a deal. If you look at any other F2P game out there, the grind is very, VERY real, and yet no one complains about that. The skill tree 1.0, if you will, was very, VERY easy to grind out. That needed to change. First its not a sustainable business model, as it is a F2P game, income needs to be generated off of stuff like XP conversion, which, tbh, wasnt happening, because you only needed to play like 10-15 matches tops to elite out your mech. In a F2P game such as MWO, thats freaking gloriously little time. Playing other games like Warthunder, World of warships, hawken, etc, the grind takes hours and hours and hours and days and weeks for 1 vehicle. We all knew that this was coming, and if you didnt, well, ignorance is bliss as they say. New players wont mind this system at all, because if they've ever played a F2P game, they will be used to the grind. So they will be 100% ok with it, for the most part. Its the bitter vets that have a problem with it. They are all woe is me, i invested all this time and effort and im getting nothing back blah blah blah. Yeah, you arent getting a ton back. But thats not necessarily a bad thing. Mastering mechs is fun, and it makes playing mechs that you mastered and forgot about that much more interesting. And guess what, 3 months down the line you will be fine with it, totally oblivious to how things were in the past without seriously having to think about. Tbh wheres the challenge in having a super optimized mech in the first place? i rarely ever play meta unless im with a team, which isnt often. Totally naked mechs with no skills unlocked presents a challenge, and thats a good thing. Is the system perfect? Hell no. Can it be improved? Hell yes. Will they? Almost guaranteed. The skill tree needs to drop, then they can work out the kinks. The only thing that i think that PGI should do is cut the costs in half for all mechs that are mastered (im talking getting the extra module slot mastered). Thats it. I've been playing this game since closed beta. Ive invested just as much time, effort and money into this game as anyone else (3000$ canadian, which is like 2200 american) so i get how you feel. But instead of being a stuck up whiner, complaining about hours spent on the damn internet, im going to go into Skill Tree 2.0 with a positive attitude and enjoy the only fucking Battletech game we have. Its all we got. And besides, MWO will die, but it did its job. It got people interested. As long as MW5 is successful, you can bet your ass that we will get a much better multiplayer game within the next decade.

If you wanted to do a restart so badly, you could always make a new account and experience working at the Gulags. This change is taking away progress from the veterans. I really have a hard time understanding why on earth people losing so much with this skill tree so adamantly defend it. If it added extra content to look forward to, I'd be all over it. However when it takes away progress and forces me to redo stuff, then I have a problem with it. Yes, MWO's grind wasn't incredibly exploitative. That's actually what made me suggest it so much to my friends. Eliting didn't take a long time and the only real grind was getting the necessary amount of C-Bills. Which let's be honest, was pretty bad already if you weren't on perma-premium all the time. You probably bought too many 'Mechpacks with years worth of premium to remember how it was to grind C-Bills 150k-50k at a time to buy that Cataphract. This is all balanced by the sheer number of 'Mechs in this game. Especially on the IS side the variants all have a different flavor and in general, they're all attractive. The old system allowed you to collect 'Mechs in this way (and it made them significant money from MC sales) and it was totally fine. The new system puts way too much emphasis on focusing on a handful of 'Mechs and the rest is put behind a huge grind/paywall. It's impossible to enjoy the variety after the skill tree. It's all about focusing on best of the best. The game is pretty much financed by selling monthly 25$-70$'Mechpacks to the whales. Now PGI says it's not enough, I want to ramp up the XP and C-Bill grind to drive MC sales. You know, that's actually fine for me. If they want more funds for MW5, they can screw up the new players and milk whales as much as they want. I'm perfectly happy with my stable and I play enough to grind new stuff. However, they're also resetting my four years of progress along with it and offering nothing in return. THAT I have a problem with and that, everyone should have a problem with.
@matthewmclean8367 жыл бұрын
Fair enough. I am also a bit miffed at the lost experience, but not enough to make me overly upset. I wonder if we pushed something like the first 91 nodes to be unlocked on previously mastered mechs were free/ massive discount. I think then the majority of people will be fine with it.
@finalexamweekftw10997 жыл бұрын
my issue with the skill tree is not so much for me. I take issue in the interest of the game itself like tuesday said it will be prohibitive for new players to jump in against longtime players in 30 percent stronger mechs. sure i only have maybe 20 mechs of which i play about 5 but i cannot master these with my current balence and i never bought any modules so i get no rebate. so me a vet from 2014 i cant even master 1 mech how can a new player hope to do anything? especually with trial mechs in which they cannot apply xp and have to face hugely powerful mastered mechs and they then have low dmg games to ruin their cadet bonus and force a prohibitive mountian to get over
@thehuntsman197 жыл бұрын
Especially for new players who don't look up games and just want to play their favorite mechs. Which most the time are not viable mechs, they will just get destroyed every match, won't know what modules to buy, be penalized for getting the wrong ones. This system is a nightmare for new players. It hurts the veterans sure, but they have money and knowledge to recover. What about the new people playing? Its just going to turn them off, people want to jump in and have fun, not get destroyed only to find out its because of a system that has them massively gimped. Its slowly turning more and more into pay to win. People who dont/cant play mwo 24/7 will suffer the most from this.
