Greenskins dont know gender cause they are mushrooms, when an ork dies he sets of spores that will evolve into more orks that is also the reason why a planet infested by orks will never get rid of them. Even Tyranids struggle to win against orks they just negate each other.

5:36 Funnily enough, that exact quote is uttered in the lore: - *No plan survives contact with the enemy.* Then you're not making the right plans. - attributed to Rogal Dorn, in retort to Lion El'Jonson

With the orks they go one of 2 ways, they either lean into the silliness or they lean into the brutality . A good example would be in Hellsreach where there the orks aren't silly at all, they are like a crushing wave of violence and destruction

Shout outs to Ghazghkull gentleman's diplomatic debate with Sebastian Yarrick where once he was finally captured by the Orkz was tortured form a revolt within the Ork's slave camps for Umies' and destroyed a lot of Ork infracsture Ghazghkull saw him at that moment as a Grod (BEST ENEMIES 4 EVAH) and told his mekkbois to put him back together (alongside his Power Klaw that Yarrick stole from a Warboss and put on afterwards to install fear into the Orkz and be respected during that moment) SPOKE ON FUCKING HIGH GOTHIC TO HIM (which scared Yarrick due to the inmense intelligence that Ghazghkull had) and basically told him "Leave, go regroup then we fight" "Finding good enemies to krump is difficult". As a Bot boyz fan myself (Necrons) I cant not like the Orkz and is always a blast (or torture) fighting them on the tabletop, plus Ghazghkull's model is fucking sick and Orkz army themselves is the Most 40K army ever imo cuz you can customize it as much as you bloody want. Pssss small bonus fun fact , Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka name was based off from Margaret Thatcher

Actually within the empire the imperial guard regiments are so different that most of them can actively fight against each other simply because they veiw the emporer differently

The parallel between greenskin types and children of different ages is honestly unnerving. Especially if we include the Krorks as the adults who have long disappeared.
@TheGallantDrake6 ай бұрын
It makes sense, one of the original inspirations behind the Orks was football hooligans. Nothing like an intoxicated young adult for dealing out enthusiastic undirected violence.

The reason Orks in 40K are so loved is due the their plain simplicity. It is crude and childish, yet beautiful.
@blackmark28997 ай бұрын
One correct I definitely noticed is that the Krorks were NOT as dumb as the Orks are. In fact they were highly intelligent and likely had complete understanding in how their unique crowd power biology worked.

For me personally it's the fact that any Ork book written from Ork perspectives is hilarious, and some of the most 'light-hearted' fun you'll get in 40K... and then when that same book may very well show a human perspective of the same incident, it is probably - bar the worst/most depraved of Chaos and dark Eldar - some of the most grotesque and inhumanly evil sh*t you see in-universe.

A podcast I listen to, Isyander and Koda, put it best with an Ork Waaaaagh: “I don’t care if you put a Chess Grandmaster in a chess match against a toddler. That Grandmaster is never going to beat that toddler if he has 16 Queens, no King to check, and a gun taped to his hand with his finger place, artfully, on the trigger.”

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!! As the song says "Orks are best, krump the rest" (and yes there is such a song called "'Ere we go", look it up) And i fully get you. Before 40k i was meh on the orks of every movie, series, game etc. But these ones just click with me. I have asked it before, but please do a reaction on "40k Lore, Tuska Daemon-Killa!" by Arch. Along with Ghazghull is probably one of the strongest orks out there. and his story is just pure gold! Or actually green, as green is da best ya git!

Probably a big reason you like Orks in 40k and not so much goofy elsewhere is because of the background. 40k is a Grim dark setting where everything is horrible and depressing. The orks work as a foil to the deadly seriousness of the setting while still, at their core, being Grim dark for anyone that encounters them. In another setting, they'd likely be both the most Grim dark threat as well as the comic relief, which just doesn't work as well.
@marcpilati55977 ай бұрын
waaaaggghhh. I think the best story based view into orks would be Baldermort's "Kronan the Kunnin'" series

idk man, as someone with a really dark sense of humor, the grim dark makes them even funnier. it's kinda like how It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is so funny because it crosses so many boundaries and gets so dark.

The tactic that Space Marines use when dealing with Ork Invasion/Waaaaghs! Is to take out the Warboss especially in front of all his orks. Because Orks only follow the biggest and strongest ork and if you kill their Warboss they will retreat and start killing each other. Space Marines chapter's like the Ultramarines, Black Templars and Crimson Fights have become experts when dealing with orks especially the Crimson Fist space marines because they have a deep hatred for anything that's ork. There are even some Imperial Guard regiments who have specialise groups that hunt Orks, Catachan Jungle fighters and Armageddon Steel Legion.

8:40 Now... as a newish person to 40k, I don't want to come across as an, "Um, actually..." type person, but I could have sworn hearing that the Krorks were really frigging smart. That the lack of major conflict post War in Heaven caused them to turn on one another so they COULD have something to fight. And then they basically beat each other dumb? Is this one of those circumstances where GW adjusted the lore after this video, or did i mishear what was said? *edited for typos

Red makes it go fast. Purple makes it invisible. And Space Marines bless their guns to make them more accurate. In the world of 40k, belief goes a long, long way.

Let's not forget that the Old Ones are godlike beings with unparalleled levels of technology. If there's anyone who could make a fungi with chlorophyll, it's them. We already know they are able to make an entire race of extremely long lived psychically gifted elf people, why not mushrooms that could photosynthesize? This is the problem when people apply real world, modern science to a universe that has demons, magic and super mega advanced civilizations with technology far surpassing our own.

Personally I find the 40k so enjoyable because they manage to be goofy while still being threatening. They’re goofy only from a removed stand point. If a single average ork was in front of you, you’d puss yourself and die screaming, it wouldn’t matter that he’s dumb as dirt and has a accent, the thing is 9 feet of pure muscle with a gun that could punch through a tank and a “knife” that could butcher an rhino. Worse the thing is genetically wired to be a remorseless murder machine. He might make a funny quip while he cuts you in half crown to crotch, but that won’t change the fact you just got butchered like a pig. Essentially they’re a perfect mix of senseless brutality and amusing quirkyness.

Whilst orks on the surface may seem like the typical slapstick comedy type, however all it does is in reality hides their true nature and that’s simply their sheer unpredictability and sheer bloody mindedness, whereas most other races would plan, scheme or what other boring things other universes or factions do, orks main goal in life is to find the meanest, toughest and baddest enemies there are where if they win, then either the fight was too boring for them or that the enemy wasn’t all they were cracked up to be, if they loose then there’s either round 2 or they had a good fight and that’s it.

You might like the Orks because they’re a good pallet cleanser for 40k which is why they exist in the series. 40k is a Dark and depressing franchise more often than not and so Orks exist in a weird middle ground where they’re almost a parody of the franchise itself and unlike everyone else who takes it seriously the Orks treat it like a fun game. They’re extremely violent, warmongering and absolute idiots. They manage to fit into the series logic while also being funny and different.

I think the reason why you can enjoy the Orkz goofyness in Warhammer but wouldn't really like them that way in other franchises is the contrast, I think. Warhammer 40k is so absurdly bleak and grim and brutal and over-the-top in nearly every single aspect, that you can't help but not want to take it seriously. That's why the writers constantly throw in little sparkles of comic absurdity and satire in there, silly little details like the fact that the Space Marines Land Raider tank is named after a dude called Arkan Land, or the Adeptus Mechanicus having some machines they keep running 24/7 for the sole reason that they're afraid that they won't be able to get them running again if they ever turn them off. The Orkz are basically the acknowledgement that 40k is honestly a pretty silly franchise, all things considered. They're one of the things that help balance out the edgyness so it doesn't become cringe. They are a good comic relief. In a less deranged setting, they might be an annoying comic relief that ruins the suspension of disbelief but 40k is just so over-the-top, extreme and absurd that this barely matters.
