So. Freaking. Cool! I love how this is done from a different perspective, not a blade smith. Your attention to detail is absolutely amazing, and if you do follow your desire to become a blacksmith, your gonna be way ahead.

Awesome look to the sword and glad I found another Arizonian to watch lol. I am in Gilbert myself and wish I had the funds to get into bladesmithing and crafting. Keep up the awesome work. Being a 39 yr old disabled vet seems to make it an issue for people to want to hire me lol. If I stay as a gas station cashier I will never make enough to even attempt to get stuff needed to start.

It's great to get a look into your process. As for bladesmiths being harsh, listen to those who have genuine constructive criticism and want to see you grow as a maker and ignore the rest. There are some good makers out there who don't mind sharing their wealth of knowledge. If I hadn't left my day job the day this challenge started, I never would have had time to do the challenge. It was a lot of fun! Good luck with the judging!
@SmittyTutDesigns2 жыл бұрын
I absolutely agree... there's been a lot of knifemakers that have opened their doors and helped me with a great deal of information and support, and for that I'm absolutely grateful... it just the few and far between that can be harsh and leave a bad taste in the mouth haha. But I appreciate the kind words- and man your build was amazing as well! I really liked the window inside the blade, and the handle color was beautiful! Thanks so much and take care!! 😃🙏🙏

I think u will be great at old school smithing. Thanks !!

@@SmittyTutDesigns its not the voice man, you gotta work on the "um" "eeeeh" and all that, you talk in a monotone way, adding all those sounds make it a terrible experience to listen. In the end I did watch the video, but skipped most of it, since well as I said, its painful to listen to.
@paulparadis662 жыл бұрын
It's nice, but this should be dead last. You didn't do the majority of the creation process. You sent it to someone else. Others that put the work in should get the rewards.
@SmittyTutDesigns2 жыл бұрын
Hey I appreciate your comment and your addition to the view count continuing to spike- but please don't discount the amount of time and effort I put into the build... let alone the creation process. I may be watching the wrong video- but you can see clearly in this video that I was involved through the whole process from creation to final build. And I assure you as this is a "viewer submission" to the fantasy challenge there are no rewards coming my way other than constructive criticism, views and channel engagement here on my channel. Now to address your concerns: The only portion I sent to someone else is Send Cut Send for the cutting of the brass and copper- but even that I did spend time designing in CAD, which in the video you would know that's part of my background as a maker. The other portion was a requirement for the build, which was the mosaic pin... and yes we did need to source that from someone else as part of the stipulation for the viewer submission. The sword itself I've spent years as a professional CAD designer/programmer of CNC machines, and actually ran the machining/tooling paths and nesting of that portion of the build as a part of my full time day job at my work, so I guess I'm sorry that I didn't load the sheet of steel into the machine and press play during the cutting process. If you find that I didn't go out and mine and smelt the copper or brass or steel I'm sorry that I missed your standard... but I also didn't take down a cow, tan the hide for my leather either, nor did I make my own leather dye/thread/needles... or even go down to the fabrication of every nut and bolt of making my own belt grinder/glowforge laser cutter/dremel/wrench or tool that I own. I'm not so sure how detailed you want to go on people putting in work, some makers use 3D Printing to assist in their lost wax casting process- I almost wonder if that doesn't meet up to your standard of putting in the work... but I'm ok not thinking about it because this build made me happy and it felt great getting to participate with the skills that I have to bring what I brought to the table. 😁 Take care tho, and again I appreciate your constructive (or rather seeming to be destructive) criticism and wish you well 🙃👍
