I do like what you ended up with in the end, not sure if it’s fully into that fantasy category as it is more historical than fantasy but have to say it’s one of the most functional ones I’ve seen yet. I do wonder why you didn’t line it with sheepskin fleece or something like that to protect the user
@PJTForging2 жыл бұрын
It's fantasy because, to my knowledge at least, there are no historical examples of this. Yes there are historical gaunlets, and yes there are historical tekko Kagi, but as far as I am aware, there was never a combined version in this style; otherwise an argument could be made that no knives can be fantasy, as there are plenty of historical examples of knives. I did consider lining it, but surprisingly, it wasn't necessary. It fit very well and comfortably to my arm, so I didn't feel the need.

I think the plate between the hand and arm should have been leather so you can move your hand more
@PJTForging2 жыл бұрын
I did consider this/similar. However I actually kinda wanted to limit the movement a bit. With the leverage that would be felt by hitting things with the claws during a full swing, I wanted the wrist to be quite robust; it's also the reason I moved the hinge back a bit further, to just behind my actual wrist joint. There was some method to the madness. 😅
