My wife and I went on our first date and heard the Cedar Walton Trio at the Four Queens in Las Vegas. It was July 1985 and we've been together ever since. So nice to see you remembering your father here. He was an awesome musician. The NPR Monday Night Jazz series was broadcasting that night. We heard Freddie at the Four Queens on another occasion. Great place to hear jazz.

Bop at its best. The only music that I can think of that musicians do that sort of thing often. Parker was the master of that, because he knew all of the popular tunes of the times. It's awesome how the greats just grab those licks out of the air in the middle of a solo and make it blend so well. I can't believe that I didn't notice that one. I think Freddie surprised himself on that one by his expression. hehe

This footage is what reminds me whats great about humanity and the god given ability to create something beautiful that speaks to the soul. Cedar Walton and Freddie Hubbard are always Jazz Masters in my book. I'm glad to see this footage is not lost in antiquity. When I want to feel upbeat I watch footage such as this. Thanks for sharing this great footage.
