Classic paradigm of Freddie's genius: blending exciting rhythmic attack, use of complex triadic structures, alternating between very tuneful, melodic phrases and then more dissonant, chromatic passages, and a bit of high note excitement for bravura drama. Perfect.

Wow, I've never been fortunate enough to hear this cat Don Braden, he can really blow. Love this song, love how Benny Green threw in a little giant steps in that very cool solo. This band is very tight,the must have rehearsed this one at least for 5 minutes.:) Thank god for recording media because all these giants are passing on.

In 1975 freddie hubbard jazz artist I met at a club in chicago called "The Quiet Nights" Ihad an opportunity to speak with and since that conversation I was hooked on the music. He was the artist I was into. I will forever miss the man and his music.

I think, he has the most stable time feeling in all jazz trumpeter. Especially in 8th notes.
Did you have the great fortune to hear the group he had with George Cables? (and sometimes Junior Cook) That was dynamite!

Why is the video incomplete?
@ElmoPriceBass12 жыл бұрын
@kittykatguy36 It has nothing to do with the quality of the amp or pickup... This video was shot in 1990... When upright basses are used in really high volume settings, they have to be amplified with this particular method to eliminate the disgusting feedback they are prone to causing. therefore wonky bass sound.

I find the repeated bass figure annoying. It needs to be reduced in level. Great performance though.

Benny looks so "green"...the sax player is stiff...and Freddie is 'skimming the changes"...but Freddie's last "good" years...lip gone now...for good...sad...
