Fantasy Zone - Full Game (Sega Master System)

THE best Master System game bar none and still cool nowadays. The Cheesy Monster (as we all called him) end of level one boss is legendary. Figuring out the Heavy Bomb trick for the bosses remains one of my greatest gaming moments. Yeah, I like Fantasy Zone. Opa-Opa f'kn kicks ass.

I've just discovered this as one of my first Master System experiences (via emulator), what a great game! The music is as bonkers as the gameplay, especially the 'game over' jingle. I'm looking forward to trying others in the series and on other platforms!

I remember when my dad bought me this game from the movie rental place when it was going out of business. I think I might of been 4 or 5, I played the shit out of this game Lol. Thanks for uploading, it brought back a lot of memories.

Oh that was great! I remember my mum and dad buying us this game for christmas along with the master system, 22 years ago! Thats just scary, I was 4! And now I've just downloaded it for the Wii for my own children to play, can impress them now watching that video for tips hehe. So thanks for the bonus kudos there!

+steve5123456789 The idea for the ending is taken from Star Wars. Also, the 16 ton heavy bomb is taken from Monty Python's Flying Circus. I know this as I read an interview by the guy who wrote the music for Fantasy Zone.

it's amazing to see how good the graphics look when you put them next to nintendo's graphics at the time. hands down one of the best games of the mid-late 80s. so much easier now 20+ years later. lol.

Back when I was a kid, there was only one single time I managed to kill the turtle boss just to die on the next one. That trick with buying all the engines is new to me. Never thought of it as I considered everything other than Big Wings to be more damaging then helpfull (with the exception of level 5 where all the bases are on the ground. There I used a faster engine to be able to kill all bases while I still had the laser-beam. Maybe I should try connecting my MS 2 and play a little FZ!

ADZ01982 Yeah, plus the whole screen wrap-around thing could really mess with you at times. Not to mention the bleeding thumb aspect of no auto-fire. I had R-Type for the SMS and I always considered this the harder game.

@johnnyjohnson - i used to play this on my megadrive via the adaptor, and i had a rapid fire button on my aftermarket controller, which made it hell of a lot easier, u just had to steer. i use an emulator now, which you can specify rapid fire, which is great. fantasy zone 2 is great too! thanks for upload and tip on unlimited fire.

@saizerboy They actually finally made a new one in 2008, it's a remake of the 2nd one in 1980's arcade style but it's new enough to be a different game. I agree though, we need the actual 3rd game in the series with Co-Op for once XD

Yes, the game is very colorful and cute all the way, but it's very difficult, it took me a while to find how to beat the last boss.

There is no rapid fire unit, I grew up playing this game hundreds of times and press that button as fast as I can. There is a time limit for the 7-way, but there is a trick to get it unlimited: You have to buy every speed option... so the Big Wings, Jet Engine, Turbo Engine and Rocket Engine. Then whatever you have for Weapon 1 will be unlimited. Just don't forget to change your speed and Weapon 1 to whatever you prefer at the sell screen.
