A comprehensive and useful video. In terms of emulation I only use the Steam deck to play a handful of consoles. Namely Gamecube, PS2 and Saturn. It's unfortunate that Steam Rom Manager is still so complicated and only works well for most common games. If you start adding Saturn titles then it doesn't recognize half of them and rename titles arbitrarily. PS2 on the go is amazing though, something that we never got to experience apart from a few titles ported to PSP or Vita.

One thing that is not clearly mentioned is that Emulationstation is able to run all the games from the stand alone emulators. You don't need to add RPCS3 or Cemu to the deck, you can just fire up ES and it will show your PS3 and all other platforms (as long as you configured them correctly). It is much better to have one single interface like ES than going through the various emulators; and your button combinations will always be the same. What you lose is the ability to change preferences and settings, so if you run those newer emulators and you want to change settings, you are forced to hop on the standalone version of the emulator to do so. Hopefully Vita and XB360 will be coming to the Deck too, and hopefully the settings will be improved so you get a perfect setup out of the box; because as now there are still some things that may cause problems like video filters, shaders, video size/multiplier for the rendering resolution and game specific hacks you have to configure yourself. Although it is the easiest setup ever made so kudos to those people making this possible

I would have mentioned that ps1 and ps2 games are the easiest to dump, since you can just put the discs in your PC and make an iso. Also, a Linux build of cemU is being developed and being tested on steam deck, and it is nearing completion. I haven't even reserved my deck yet, but I can't be more excited. Just a tip for emulators like xemu. Don’t use the mangohud ui for reading fps because they would be seeing the emulated monitor they make which means it wouldn’t be it’s true fps. For xemu case you should go into debug and click video and you will see a fps counter and mspf counter for milliseconds per frame. I haven’t used the new ui update but you would find a similar option in the new controller ui (activated by start and select buttons at same time).
