Thank you for your valuable sharing, this video is super helpful! I am a high school student in the sophomore year and may apply for music business program for my undergraduate study. So, I want to do some extracurricular during my high school. But I don’t know what should I do, can you please share some of your experience about the things (extracurricular etc.) you did in high school, that will help me a lot! Thank you!

Hi there, this video is amazing! I'm currently an 11 grader in an IB school and I'm planning to ED this program in NYU. I've been a passionate music lover and composer(with only a few compositions), but I'm worried cause my scores in the school is a bit low until now. Just wanna ask if you know what kind of characteristics does the school wants to see as an applier and does scores in the school report matters that much? Thanks!

hey! i’m a junior in hs and the music business program at nyu is my dream. i was wondering if you had any insight on my shot at acceptance… i think i’ll have pretty good stats, i scored a 34 out of 35 on the preACT w/out prep, and i have a 3.86 unweighted GPA as of now (and am hoping to bump it up a bit now that distance learning is done). im an NHS member with a good amount of honors/APa and extra curriculars (pretty much all arts-centered). i’m also going to be taking AP music theory my senior year as well as TAing/interning in my schools music department, which i’m heavily involved in already. even so, how selective it is freaks me out, so i’m planning on spending a lot of time on my essay and focusing it on my “aha” moment when i knew i loved music (i was six and got to play one extremely grotesque note on a cello), and about how my late grandfather inspired/inspires me in my musical journey, as he was a choir director and dedicated musician (i have his 1960s copy of the harvard dictionary of music which is pretty cool lol). i’m still absolutely terrified that i won’t get into the program… what do you think?? it seems like no one i’ve talked to (my sister and friends) thinks i’ll make it either which is discouraging. anyways, hopefully i’ll be a member of the class of 2028!

Thank you for making this video! This Program at NYU has been my dream for a long time. I'm a senior this year and I'm going to a different school for a year because most of the schools with programs like this are private and expensive and I was given the opportunity to attend for this other school free through an early college Highschool program Im in (ill be studying entrepreneurship there and will have my associate after 1 year). I want to ask if you see any transfer students in the program and if you know any transfers could you ask them if they found the process to be really competitive/ harder than a regular applicant for the program? also I live in upstate NY and there are not a lot of opportunities in the industry up here so my other question was did you have any industry experience when you applied/ do most people and what things should I be doing in the next year to increase my chances of getting in? I got interested in the industry through my own research and curiosity and I feel like that might not be the case with most current students. thank you for any advice you can give!
@BebeHowell4 жыл бұрын
hey grace! the application process is very similar for transfers and regular applicants alike; so it is also equally competitive. i personally did not have any industry experience when applying, but i would recommend having some to boost your application as a transfer. if there's no opportunities where you are you'll have to get creative and make your own (for example; i made this channel/blog & now include it on job applications!) good luck :)

Thank you for this video! It is very helpful! Just wanna ask are many people transferring out each year? and normally where'd they go?
@BebeHowell4 жыл бұрын
thanks for watching! there are sometimes a couple that transfer out; usually because of the music training portion of the program-- it can be intimidating if you have no musical background. but still doable if you put in the effort!
@BebeHowell4 жыл бұрын
also-- by transfer i mean they transfer internally (so within NYU). the most common case i see is the person transferring to Gallatin. i haven't seen anyone transfer universities!

Thank you so much for this video. I'm planning to apply for masters once I'm done with my undergrad. Can you help me with Masters in Music business?

Hello! I am an applicant for 2025ER. I recently discovered the major of Music Business, and I like it very much. I want to study the major of ED NYU. However, I did not do any activities specifically for this program. I like music very much. As an original musician, I have some awards in music and some activities about music business planning. I would like to ask me from now on how to do to maximize my competitiveness?(Because your video said that the admission rate of this program is quite low, I am not very confident lol.)
@BebeHowell4 жыл бұрын
if you have awards and music business related activities, then definitely include those in your application! that's super important and shows that you are passionate about music :) good luck

Hi! What were your stats in high school (gpa and sat/act scores)? and did you have any industry experience before applying to the program?
@BebeHowell4 жыл бұрын
hey there! GPA was a 4.3, took the new format of the SAT and got a 1410. no industry experience, but i was heavily involved in my high school's music program (was one of the "officers" for it) so i included that instead :) hope this helps

I'm doing finance and banking rn and idk what to do for my pg and this has caught my attention, is it possible? Because I saw music finance being a part of it but I'm in india and it's obviously going to be expensive and what are the other factors I should accomplish to get in

does NYU give any scholarships? i’m looking into NYU for next year & it’s my dream, but it’s very expensive
@BebeHowell4 жыл бұрын
they don't really offer much merit-based assistance, most of it is needs-based !! so if you think you qualify then definitely apply for financial aid

Sorry if this is a dumb question but did you have to audition in any way? If not what are the main things theyre looking for on your application when it comes to music business?
@BebeHowell4 жыл бұрын
you have to submit a short singing video but it's just so that they know you are able to carry a tune; because of the music courses you'll have to take!

Hi i hope you Can answer this :( I’m from Mexico and I’m studying a creer I DONT LIKE and it’s exhausting. Hey so I applied as a transfer student, but my GPA is not up to par. I do have current industry experience with internships, etc. I'll be applying as a Junior for Fall 2021. How is the acceptance for transfers in the program? Do you guys get alot of transfers applying or no
@BebeHowell4 жыл бұрын
a lot of transfer students apply, usually internally (from another program at NYU) and it's competitive. but don't let that discourage you-- just make sure to highlight your industry experience and knowledge in the application!
@jlugaming12504 жыл бұрын
if you get into this program can you still get a major in buisness or no?

you cannot double major with music biz, however the program takes the core business curriculum at stern. so you are still getting that business education!

Do stats matter? Cause I have almost As,Bs and one C or it’s just purely on how you do on your audition?Im planning to apply as a music major with the cello or a music business major.
@BebeHowell4 жыл бұрын
stats definitely matter, but it's also about being well-rounded as an individual (showing your passion for music, extracurriculars, etc). the audition is just to make sure you can carry a tune so that you'll be able to handle the music courses!
