I still find I have to ream out the copper, because if I don't, a weird inner or outer lip will form, and that's not good. Still like the tool. Either that or I need a more powerful drill.

Makes sense I bet most mini-split line sets are made with this tool. DIY installer using 8" wrench no way to torque to 40 lbs with small wrench for 1/2 line. Unless they use a torque wrench never going to seal.

Easy pass for me, I will do it the right way the first time with an eccentric flare tool. I predict minimal contact surface due to angle miss match and with likely scoring on the contact surface, plus an erroneous Torque reading provided from having to use the nut to form the connection. Fast = Failure, Slow = Success & Experiences is the Key!

Hi. For plumbing yu can get the proper Swaging Spin Plumbing set (red box w/ 3 pieces) or get the individual 1/2 Swaging Spin Tool. The Swaging Spin are meant for hard and soft copper, but Flaring Spin are only meant for Soft copper. It can work on 0.28 inches wall thickness, however make sure you are using a high rotation screwdriver (500rpm and above).

Thanks for the comment. We beg to disagree with your comment, tough. SPIN flaring tool leads to a wider area of contact between the flare and valve, a flare adpating to any nut (let's say the manufacturer made it slighttly off standard, such as 45,5°. Spin will adapt de the to that angle). It's not limited to make only 45° flares. BY the ANSI and ASME standards, a flare in tube of copper can have from 43° to 47°. We are definitely warranting a flare that will adapt to any discrepancy of angle of the nut or valve, getting a tight seal fitting; resulting in no leaks at all. Please read our faq in our website. That’s just dumb Procker Dark. Teflon tape can hurt and should only be used on NPT threads. It is NEVER OK to use it on any other fittings. The best interface is copper to brass as designed. Putting tape on these threads is pointless and actually adversely affects the application of proper torque during when the nut is torqued. A better tool is one that cold works the flare to form the correct angle. It can’t be overstated that the other important aspect of this fitting is the proper torque.
