In some cases, I troll the trolls, especially if I think I have the time. Some "hen-pecked" hams will take offense to the statements that I made. But I think they're the only one's who'd notice the poke. ;-) Good to see you!

Aww, this brought a smile to my face. My partner is a totally good sport about my converted GTI. Like your wife, he's supportive even if all of my stuff makes ride alongs a little uncomfortable. He's happy to see me explore my interests, and vice versa. He loves his car as much as I love mine. Maybe it helps that we're both ham radio operators, car enthusiasts, and all purpose "nerds" who like adventure. 🙂 73 KD9CDA

You're wife is a gem. 👍 My wife and I recently took a trip from Wisconsin to Kansas City in my Mazdaspeed3. The ride in my car is a lot different than her F150, but if I drive like a good boy I get about double the MPG the F150 gets.

Hello! I'm also from Wisconsin. I took the same trip recently in my GTI. But, I slapped a cargo box on top of my car. Unfortunately, I lost some bragging rights on fuel economy with this move!

@@stephaniesansoucie Hello fellow Sconnie! oooph, the aerodynamics of the cargo box is killer. I have several friends that have put them on various vehicles and it always shaves a few MPG at least. If I am really good, accelerate slowly, don't speed, just cruising down the highway, I can get 34-36 MPG. If I enjoy the drive, that goes down to about 24-26 on highway.

That is awesome! I recently visited Texas for the solar eclipse. Visit my website for the report and eclipse photos. I still need to record a report for KZbin. Anyway, I averaged nearly 30 mpg, even with the higher travel speeds and 10 antennas in the air. Thanks for visiting!

I would really love to see a video about some of the more granular design things you do. Listening to your thoughts and decisions as you plan to layout your power, grounding, antenna coax. All the way down to the methods you use to mount accessories and terminate the cables . Love the content, keep it coming!

Noted! I've never been much for "how-to" videos. Instead, I create "how-did" videos since I get caught in the moment and want to get the job done instead of fidgeting with cameras and sound. But I think I could make something about my decision process. Thanks for the idea!

HAHA! That could be true. I shared your comment with my wife and had to explain that your logic suggests that most wives will tolerate antennas on a car faster than they would their house. My wife said, "I don't care if you put antennas up at the house." Oh my! She has no idea would she may be permitting. HAHA! Regardless, I just not interested in building a home station.
