Kudos to Rico for being civil in explaining why Bamboo left Rivermaya. And whatever it's worth, it is understandable if some provides unproven speculations. Regardless, let's take what has been given. I've heard from a college pal about the addiction as reason why Bamboo stayed in the US after the band's tour in 1998. Over a decade later, Bamboo's explanation seemed in sync with Rico's. Then let's take it, and let the guesses laid to rest. Although, as far as I know, Rico and Bamboo are not in speaking or in good terms since the latter's departure, now 24 years and running. In another snippet (2012), Bamboo said "no" if invited for a Rivermaya reunion.

in my views the fact why bamboo left rivermaya, they were really not in good terms relationship na with Rico Blanco that time. Tracing back there last concert in the US of Rivermaya. Panuorin nyu maigi yung mga actions nila on stage kung gaanu naka toxic at sobrang pissed off c Bamboo nung kinanta nya ang "ULAN" right in the middle of performace. Naalala ko nung high school ako habang kumakain ng almusal bago pumasok sa school. Guest performer si Bamboo sa morning show di ko lang tanda kung Unang hirit ba ung palabas. Sobrang sabog ng muka niya mukang tumugtog pa overnight bago mag guest. Sabi ng pinsan ko na nag ddrum. So he wanted to be with his family. Gotta be honest, the rumors of putting him into rehab was more believable. He's amazing at his work. Most artists are junkies and/or psychologically unstable. Maybe the reason why people still keep asking why he left the band is because the real reason would not sell. There's just no drama in "I just wanted to be with my family." Unless, of course, he was depressed or something. Either way, he's awesome. One of my favorites of all time.

I said it's more believable but it's not what I still believe in. It's like saying "it is more believable that the earth is flat". Your eyes and your most basic senses perceive a flat earth. Without scientific knowledge and relying only in your observation, it is more believable that the earth really is flat. It is believABLE but it is not what we know and believe to be the fact. It is more believable that the reason for quitting a band as big as theirs is to go to rehab but it is not what we know and belive to be the fact.

Kamukha pala ni Skeletor si Rico. Payatot at bako bako ang mukha. He wasnt the frontman then so his face is shown on tv once in a while. All the attention is on Bamboo. When Rico did this interview between 1998 and 2000, Maris Racal was still a baby. Lucky for them both, Maris.is now a.sexy hot youngstar singer and oozing with sex appreal and prefers much older but talented men! And Rico is a lot more pogi today and Maris fell deeply for this guy old enough to be her Dad. Rico the man! We middle aged DOMs are inggit with Blanco. For those who are saying that Bamboo went to rehab is more believable than he just wanted to be with his family/finish studies. Kindly base your gut (or whatever that is) on how they reacted esp Nathan to Bamboo's leaving the band, they obviously weren't happy or shall I say they were "pissed". Even Kris jokingly said "parang iniwan ng girlfriend" referring to Nathan's comment on Bamboo's exit. Maybe you can ask yourselves what kind of friends get mad at his friend because he decided to get help in overcoming addiction even if it means quiting your passion, your band and instead be put into rehab. The decision wasn't mutual because the band felt it was something Bamboo could have given more time, weigh things and reconsider their side, thwir feelings (yung bandang naiwan). What I'm trying to point out is that if Bamboo left the band to go to rehab then they would not be upset because pag ganoon po ay kelangan talaga. But in this case they said reason was Bamboo left because he wanted to be with his family sa states kaya mejo nahirap sila sa ganoong rason lang. Nathan was honest about his feelings na na dismaya siya sa desisyon na yun ni Bamboo which of course makes sense kung ganoon lang naman yung rason bat nang iwan.
