Hey Ola! You were indeed off on the Rammstein video being patriotic ;) It is in no way a patriotic video or song. The song in particular is about the ambivalence of being german with all the history going on and being unable to be proud of your home country. The video shows scenes from every major period in german history, espacially the dark ones (german democratic republic, RAF-terrorism, WW2, the colonisation etc) In conjunction with the song this is a provoking piece of art fit for dissecting in history class. Sorry for being smartass, I just think the matter isn't necessarily that easy to grasp for non germans. We are pretty iffy about patriotism, and for a good reason. Love your videos, got my copy of "Master of the Universe" last week and it's a fucking beauty! Keep up the good work!

patriotic in a sense of loving your country that you want the people to confront the darkness of their history not bury it. if they weren't patriotic, they wouldn't address it. they would just allow them to hang by the weight of their own ignorance. but they love their home and they want the people to grow as humans by confronting their darkness to put it in correct context.

StuntcatTV so he followed in the footsteps of every musician ever? There’s a reason there’s the stereotype “sex, drugs, and rock & roll”. Sabbath, Zeppelin, Hendrix, Floyd, Motley Crue, if you name a famous and influential rock/metal band, you probably have someone there dealing with substance abuse. Fucking Ozzy snorted a line of ants... and apparently a lot worse as a part of a bet/contest. Gotta love blaming a single person for something that’s part of the culture.
@kitoyobeni15 жыл бұрын
@@StuntcatTV There's certainly some issue with depression and drug abuse from that region and scene. How many musicians from that scene have we lost from that combination? Kurt, Layne Stayley, Mike Starr, Chris Cornell, Andrew Wood, Kristen Pfaff, John Baker Saunders, etc. Seemingly every big band that emerged from that scene lost someone along the way. Blaming Kurt for being a crybay is ridiculous. If it was just the unexpected fame that he couldn't deal with, there's an easy out for that. Don't participate in it. Maybe it has something to do with Seattle's dreary weather, or the no-way-out feel of their upbringing and view of the future that starts these drug habits. I'm certainly not qualified to say one way or another. It definitely cannot be summed up by calling someone a crybaby.

What are your top 3 mixing tips to get the guitars as fat as possible whilst cutting through the mix nicely. Pls respond sir hola
@goatsurgeon5 жыл бұрын
Matt R If he doesn’t answer I’ll give you mine. 1 EQ 1. Low cut/high pass filter from 90-120hz so it sits on the bass guitar and doesn’t mud the bottom end. 2. High cut/low pass around 7khz-10khz to get rid of any high fizz you may be experiencing 3. Boost with a wide bell curve around 2500hz to give the guitar more bite. 2 Use a delay effect instead of a stereo widener or Reverb, and it’ll add the 3rd dimension to make the guitar sound huge but not clutter the mix. (Only do around 20ms and don’t mix the effect in too hard, just enough) Snare is the first to choke out on guitar stereo widening, we don’t want that. 3 Don’t fear the gain, and put a clipper on top of your guitars instead of a limiter. Try to get them pushed over .1 to 1 dB at the peaks of your transients, and use a plugin with oversampling in a bus or master ahead of the guitars to clean up unwanted distortions from pushing things too hard.
@fitzeflinger5 жыл бұрын
also you can use a little bit of side chain compression from the snare and cut out the snare resonant frequency on the guitar tracks (around 200 hz) to not lose punch on the snare when turning up the guitars
@goatsurgeon5 жыл бұрын
The thing about the snare is it’s body is around 120-260 hz, and the hit of the stick that cuts it through the mix is at 2000hz. Guess what’s also in those ranges? Keep guitars hard left, hard right. Be careful about compressing a snare. I favor clippers and transient designers with clean saturation over compressors and limiters. It’s easy to destroy the natural snare sound. I like the body just under the ceiling with the hit boosted just enough to clip about .5 dB off the top of the transients

Hello Louise and Ola, first of all thank you for all your effort and work with Solar guitars and the new Ola's solo album, I know it's a hard work and you as company owners/members are leaving a legacy and inspiration to all of us. My question: Ola, have you ever write and record a song to Loiuse or inspired by her? Cheers from Venezuela!

Soooooo Louise created the solar emblem right? Does she have a sketch book? Background in art or art history? Band shirt collection? Does she do any graphic design for ads or shirts? Tattoos? Does she have an Instagram? Does she like the DT train of thought album?
