I liked how there was always a tension that something was gonna go wrong on your mission and you'd have to salvage it and do the mission while you're out of ammo or something. There's constant tension.

I think FC2 gun degradation was way too fast. After shooting maybe 100 shots from a gun, it looks as if its been dropped in a swamp. I wish there was an option to clean the guns or something. If it happened a little slower, id be happier.

I'm a freak I would like to see something different in the gameplay, the way the characters look. Far Cry and Far Cry 2 didn't look alike and Far Cry 3 was totally different to Far Cry 2. The opening scene of FC5 has you running into some trees pursued by dogs and being shot at exactly the same as 3.

The game was far from perfect, but this game is one of the only shooters where I really felt like the hands of death was just around the corner. Malaria... seemingly EVERYONE wanted to murder you for some reason... when you do a mission, the faction you do it for still doesn't care and wants to kill you... Yeah, I beat this game long ago with some sweat on my eyebrow. And who can forget getting ran over and dying instantly? '

Yeah, one of them being that you can do whatever you wish to do without any limits. I know Far Cry 3 is like that too, but there were a lot of limitations, such as annoying pop ups that kept showing your objectives. Go craft this, go get that, go make syrettes with this. Far Cry 2 felt more like freedom compared to FC3

***** In FC3 and 4 it would be good if you get the tutorial once. But you get it throughout the entire game. Go there, do that. It's a hand-holder. A tutorial should be at the beginning of the game and then you're on your own. FC2 did that and it was amazing. EDIT: Oh, and regarding the story. I'm cool if the game doesn't push the story in my neck. That way, I can make my own story in the game.

Best thing to do in far cry 2 is attach IED's to a jeep or truck, then drive into a camp filled with explosives, detonate the the ied's and kill everyone in one big explosion.

Apart from all the great things of this great game the Soundtrack of this game deserves huge respect. Well done Marc Canham. So touching, that African feel and it's an emotion. The soundtrack is so great that just with the music it conveys the game's theme - "You're alone. You've malaria, you gotta protect yourself. You're all alone. They're coming for you. Better hide all the time. Take care of yourself. You're battling with militia and malaria. Stand up and fight or else you die. You're alone again. Heal yourself. If you've got a bullet in you, then calm down, take it out, patch it up or else you die, you gotta patch up buddy and start fighting again or else you die. Yes, of course, you got buddies but don't rely on em. Kill the damn Jackel and get outta this place. It's a pure test of your survival. Play safe or else you'll be dead. Go run, run fight "

I played far cry 2 when it came out and loved it, it is very immersive and quite challenging its very gritty and believable as an African worn torn country, the music is good as well. Far cry 3 is much prettier and more colourful and less sombre and gritty just more crazy.

Despite it's technical issues on PC and super aggressive AI that respawns all the time, it's a personal favorite of mine with it’s great gameplay and gorgeous to look at African atmopshere over a decade after release. Also, the sniping is really fun and my favorite part of the game.

MadMax052 True story mate :) One more thing, Far Cry 2 released in 2008 has better graphics than Far Cry 3 and 4 released in 2013 and 2014. I mean, when I take a look to those drawn shitty coloured graphics in 3 and 4 I want to cry and then I see the burst of sunlight pouring through the trees and reflects on the water in FC2, while giving you the most amazing atmosphere you can imagine in gaming, similar to Metro LL :)

Yeah I remember when I first realized there was like no ambient noise in Far Cry 3 on the 360. I was in the middle of the jungle and the trees were shaking all around, but there was no wind, no insects, just silence. Far Cry instincts had better ambient sound than Far Cry 3 and that's just sad.

David Warden -2 was about the world, a realistic situation, and the people who feed off of this type of hell. You are placed in the center of this world as a simple mercenary. War is your home. You're not special, you're just there to do a job and it's up to you to figure out how you want to do it. This is how a game should be made in my opinion. It's about the world and your personal experiences in it. The game doesn't force you to experience anything in any particular way. So when you do experience something interesting, it really is interesting, because it's dynamic, it's yours. 3 and 4 are more about characters. This is more like how a movie is made. And if it's done well then fine, but you're missing the entire point of what makes a videogame so special. You're not telling a story that could only be told by a game. It's Jason Brody's story now, not mine. -They made 3 less realistic. Realism goes hand in hand with immersion for most people. -3 and 4 are objectively easier than 2 in every single way. If there is no challenge, there is no point to playing the game for many people. If it's not possible to lose, technically it shouldn't be considered a 'game'. -In 2 you technically don't have to repeat anything if you don't want to, but you can if you do. Which is nice because it gives you a chance to try things out. In 3 you actually have to play the game over again if you weren't tired of using your Deagle because you run out of things to shoot. So it's funny how you talk about FC 2 being repetitive when meanwhile you literally have to repeat the entire first half of 3 if you liked using fun weapons and abilities. I don't see how you can just be like "all your shit is just opinion, now here's the real problems." literally brushing my points aside without addressing a single thing about them. Then you say two words and apparently it's an objective fault of the game? The only thing about your comment that I can see being objective, is that you don't know what objective means. Everything I mentioned objectively exists, whether or not they are seen as faults in the game is always subjective. My arguments were never pointing out that they are objective faults that everyone should hate. But rather that people who appreciate a smarter, realistic, immersive, challenging, engaging, tightly designed gameplay experience would enjoy 2 more. Of course 3 is going to be better in some ways, it better be since it's newer, but if it had stuck with the direction 2 was going 3 would have had a lot more to offer the more hardcore crowd. But then hey I'm not in business, and I know if they made 3 as deep as 2, people wouldn't have gotten bored as fast, and then who would buy something as unnecessary as 4?

(SPOILERS!!!) What if the player is in fact the Jackal? Nobody knows his true identity, all the cutscenes where he shows up the only person present is the player himself and he always dissapears without being seen. They supposedly send you to kill a man who you turn into throughout the game; a misterious mercenary who is arming and helping both factions, and isn't that what you do the entire game in order to find him? When you're sent to prison, you destroy a weak concrete wall, then you kill everybody. Later on the game you meet the Jackal on the same prison but there's nobody alive, the prison is in the exact condition you left it, but more importantly if you go check that concrete wall you destroyed is magically "whole" again, as if it had never happened. At the end of the game, the last time you meet him, on the table where he leaves the battery and the diamonds, there's a flare gun which he could have used for blowing up the dynamite. What if the player is just the dark side of the Jackal, and he sends him to die in this two possible endings? For me this is just a mercenary version of Fight Club, which makes a lot more sense than a plain contract killer who goes out of purpose and then realizes he's bad enough to commit suicide

The story for this game is in a way based off the book "Heart of Darkness" by Joseph Conrad. In that book, the main character becomes the man he was hunting by the end like your character and the Jackal.

in far cry 2, you sprint for 3 seconds and then get tired and keep repeating that in the endgame, in far cry 3, you got on a car while being chased by hundreds of enemies and then escpae with a helicopter with your brother. really big difference.

This game was awesome in my opinion, and I beat it fair and square without any cheating or anything. The environments in the game are amazing. It was fun following the trail and straying off a little ways to warehouses, poaching camp sites, the lake area, the train graveyard thingy, and all of the other cool sites in the game.

barzy qasim Colours are what made the atmosphere great! But I'll be honest, after like 21 hours I wanted a change, so I went ahead and I downloaded this mod called SweetFX and it is basically tweaking files a bit to make everything look brighter and more alive. It's small, but it changes the way you see everything. It requires HDR and Bloom to be closed though or it will reflect way too much light and I think it only works on DX9

barzy qasim DX11 is the same as DX10 and DX9 apart from some new features and improvements. Far Cry 2 can only support up to DX10 since it's an old game, but the mod only works with DX9 I think. If you have DX11, you have DX9. You can play every game that uses an older DX version than yours, apart from some 80s games which require a DOS machine or emulator to play.

Imho, Far Cry 2 was a lot of fun, but a bitch to play and ultimately very confusing and irritating: E.g. when you run out of meds and happen to be in the middle of the desert, and keep fainting every 20 seconds. Also the controls are clunky and unresponsive at times, but the actual overall game itself makes up for it. Far Cry 3 takes everything that was good with 2 and improves upon it, and makes it fun to play and interesting and engaging.

Far Cry 3 isn't even close to FC2. Everything feels different. There is no buddy companion system and no choice between how you engage in a mission. It also doesn't take place in a desert but a jungle. The vehicles are probably the only similar thing about it as well as the animals.

bob fred I just preferred Far Cry 3, it just seemed a lot more polished. And I still felt in FC3 you could choose how to do a mission; go in stealthy with the bow and takedowns, all out assault with RPGs and molotovs, or just plain shooting and looting. I'll admit, parts of FC2 were more interesting, but the scope and character development of FC3 was bigger, and the motivation was better. FC2 - Go kill an arms dealer. FC3 - Find your friends and brother, try and get them off the island safely.

***** I never said FC2 was better but just both are very different. All the far cry games take different routes than the previous ones. Sure, in FC3 you can choose to go in stealthy or guns blazing like in FC2 but FC2 gives you the opition of how you complete the mission. In FC3 it's always scripted. Personally, I like FC3s hostile characters better aka Vaas. Hey was by far the best villain in a video game. Jason and his friends were pretty boring though.

Revisited FC2 after completing FC3, and I realised that I had no idea how I coped with it as far as I did. It's weird. I loved it at the time, but going back to it now, you can see that Ubisoft (or whoever developed it) really did make the most out of what they had, and refined the game for a wider audience. and they skip everything the original had to make it a modern fps -_- boring. The ai in f.e.a.r is one of the best even today and that game was more satisfying. It felt better to hit and kill enemies plus they react in realistic ways and it feels so damn good to fire a gun! it's like old games where you can do the same thing over and over but it feels great so you don't care.

Enemies in FC2 react in realistic ways. They panic and sometimes run away. If you injure them their buddies call out for a medic and try to drag them to safety. It's a long time since I played FEAR but I don't remember them doing that ?

zane brown Graphics card is key. Work around the graphics card you want. For example, I built my system knowing that I would purchase a GTX 780ti in the future, which I did, so I made sure my CPU was good enough not to bottleneck, made sure I had a good trusty power supply that wouldn't explode (no joke I actually had one in the past that set fire to my desk!) and I made sure I had a reliable motherboard. Start watching Linus tech tips or Newegg, they give very easy to understant tips and tricks.

+Ender Blox (EnderBloxRules) I really hated FC4. It felt like they didn't care about the game and just wanted to grab some easy money. I mean even the animations were recycled how lazy is that?? It did upgrade from the last fc3 but it wasn't enough to call it a good game imo. Far cry 2 upgraded a lot over fc1 and so fc3 over 2 but Far cry 4 didn't feel enough. Far cry 5 is okay from what I have seen but the lack of guns really puts my hype down.

Yes it comes with a scope but to get t you must do the convoy missions for gun shops and progress in the story since certain weapons will become available only when convoy missions are available.
