Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon is a stand-alone DLC for Far Cry 3.The story is not canon to Far Cry 3, but gameplay mechanics stay the same. Everything in the game is based off of B-rated movie aspects from the 80's, when movies such as Rambo and Robocop were very popular. This includes the art, story, and voice acting, running the gamut from neon colors to over the top voice-overs. It is intended to be a fun, campy game, but the danger is still very palpable and can result in a quick death if not taken seriously. Those that pre-order the PC version of the game also receive a copy of the game's soundtrack.
The setting is in an alternative 2007, where the "apocalypse has had an apocalypse", and a Cyborg army called the "Omega Force" is trying to take over the world, or what's left of it, by trying to find a bioweapon that is hidden on a distant island. The fate of the world is in the hands of Sergeant Rex Power Colt, who is a Cyborg that came from the Toxic ashes of Vietnam War II. Rex is out for revenge, intent on hunting down his former cyber-commanding officer. Missions range from capturing outposts (controlled by the Omega Force) and hunting wildlife; this wildlife proves to be gigantic dragons that shoot lasers out of their eyes. Rex can assume control of these creatures once he tears the hearts out of enough of his enemies.
Far Cry 3 is an open world role-playing first-person shooter video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal in conjunction with Ubisoft Massive, Ubisoft Red Storm, Ubisoft Reflections, and Ubisoft Shanghai and published by Ubisoft for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

With all of the movie references I gotta say that the shot gun named the "Galleria 1991" has to be the coolest in the game. It's a reference to the first battle between the T800 and the T1000, it's the same gun that the T800 used to fight the T1000 in their first battle at the galleria mall in 1991. lol

I have to reinstall and play this game in 2017. This was one of the funniest fucking things I had seen in the modern gaming industry. Pure gold. I hate on Ubisoft a lot. But definitely not over this game. I remember it came out of nowhere and I thought it was some kind of practical joke. It was free on steam so I decided to play it and I was cracking up the whole way through it. So many great 80's references, and done in a way that wasn't cringe or awkward. It's rare to see a major development studio do something like this for fans. Definitely an ode to the fans. I liked this spin-off more than I did the main farcry 3 game. Call me crazy.
