I get your point about Vaas being an amazing antagonist (he is unforgettable after all), but you missed the fact that Vaas is one of multiple antagonists in the game. Hoyt was quite bland as an antagonist, and that’s why people forget about him even existing. Citra could also be seen as an antagonist (although it is debatable), and she plays a key part in the game in making or breaking Jason. Joseph Seed is a memorable antagonist, and you always remember who he is and what he is trying to do with the county, which I think shows how Ubisoft went into antagonist character development much further than Far Cry 3. Just my opinion, great video as always :)

Bro Hoyt is an amazing character who is loved by the fanbase. His writing and performance were both absolutely flawless. He wasn't as complex as Vaas but he was clearly a Tony Montana inspired character and in that regard they completely nailed his charisma and ruthlessness

​@M Nah, Jacob was just a blend one-dimensional villain, even compared to Hoyt. Bla, bla, bla natural is good, bla, bla bla, you're in a cage for the 99th time and I don't kill you. John was not bad, but not very good. Kinda middle of the road. You got imprisoned a lot of time, but the resistance always got you out, which made John more and more mad. Only Faith was really well done. What I loved about her is that on the one hand you think she does it because she really think what she does is helping people, and she thinks she does the right thing, but on the other hand you've got the feeling she doesn't really want to and is high on bliss 24/7 and gets mentally abused by the seed family. Or none of the above and she is just manipulating you cuz she is a crazy bitch. Hoyt was a crazy sadistic asshole who loves the evil things he does. And even tough he is very one-dimensional, how he handled the player made sense, and he was really clever as he saw right rough Jason's disguise and forced him to torture his little brother, only for his own amusement.

Actually, after playing Far Cry 5, Far Cry 3 seems just a little bit outdated (no offence), the game is a GOAT, no doubt, but the mechanics are outdated. I really like the mechanics of Far Cry 5/New Dawn, they just give you the freedom to do everything. Just if they bring some old features back like the double takedowns and the knife one along with far Cry 5 mechanics, I would be down to play that game.

one thing i appreciate about 5 vs 3 or even 4 is that everything you do goes toward an objective (liberating a province from one of the seed family). no need to travel to a mission marker, stop everything i’m doing, complete the mission, and then travel to the next marker. 5 has that a little bit, but blowing up a silo or just killing some enemies that found me in the wild still goes toward liberating said area. i just wish it required MORE liberation points to finish an area. there’s so much to do after each Seed is dead, but it feels pointless since it’s not going toward anything. i agree that getting yanked from the gameplay is super annoying but that’s kind of a testament to what i said earlier: 5 has the most freedom of choice. if you want, you could just cause havoc for hours and not do any of the main missions, or you could only do main missions: it gives the player the choice. plus 5 has the added benefit of not requiring you to stop what you were doing just to do a mission. you could just pick up missions from somewhere and complete them at your leisure. my only major gripe with 5 is the fact that hunting is an after thought.

I feel that’s Far cry 5 is better mainly because it is more recent and more polished. Most people who say far cry 3 is better just have nostalgia for it. I say this because I played far cry 3 afterwards and it felt like playing an old game with a lot less detail and worse gameplay.

Ight, I'm actually playing Far Cry 3 rn since it's free rn, so I'll watch this video once I've finished the game. Although I haven't gotten that far in far cry 3 yet, I'd personally say that Far Cry 5 is better for the simple reason that I think the story is almost unbeatable. I think that the concept of defeating a brutal cult who's taken controll over a place is fantastic and in this case very well done. The game just over all feels very polished. I guess it's not necessarily the story/plot that I think is great but rather how the story has been executed, if that makes sense. I was actually kinda shocked to find out that a lot of people didn't like it that much. I think the ending is very well made and I do think that it's a shame that Ubisoft made a follow up to the events in Far Cry 5 cause I feel like it kinda ruins the point. Anyways, al I can say is that I'd give Far Cry 5 a strong 8/10 (maybe even 9). Strongely recommend. Also, just gave this video the 999th like lessssssssss gooooooooo. Edit: I realised that I forgot to say that one of the key elements of Far Cry 5 that makes it as immersive as it is is how incredibly well they used the music in the game. They really manage to make it feel completly fucked and psychotic when they wanted to with very up beat happy songs about how the world will end and the sinners must die, and using old slow songs in order to make something feel disturbing, It's very impressive what you can achieve with simply playing a song with the completly wrong vibe. Example: if you'd play What A Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong over a compilation of the Joker killing people in Joker (2019) that would make it feel very disturbing. It's a very cool trick that a lot of thrillers use for trailers instead of playing some fast cinematic song and it almost always work very well. Another edit right after the last one: It's to the point where it's borderline brainwashing with the music and "the bliss", like, honeslty, was it just me that at times in Faith's region actually got a kinda comfortable vibe for the psychotic drug abusing mass murdering miltant cult?

i think both are equally good considering that the walking cameraman was just a rookie deputy,he just work fast and hit the vital points with american guns while Jason is a spoiled child who turns like a badass,he brutally kill and stabbing people like vaas and sometimes ngereog.the terrorist weapon like the slightly damaged AK,no medicine,all with the nature,kretek/urut (repair broken bones) which is relate to the reference same as far cry 5 if i should choose on,maybe the Far Cry 3 is more satisfying overall

More customization isn’t always a plus. In fc5 since you can customize all guns the same way (and they even handle almost identical to others in their class) there’s really no reason to choose one over the other. It removed the whole strategic planning thing where in FC3 for much of the game you had to put more thought into your choice, like choosing between taking a more powerful sniper over one that can be silenced, or an assault rifle with a slower rate of fire and worse recoil than others but better damage.

I really do like both the antagonists in both games but for some reason Joseph Seed had some charisma to him that kind of made me wanna join him in some way and his companions, Faith, Jacob and John, just added a solid layer to each of the characters. Faith's section was the most convincing to me and it really made me want to have a second option to try and help her and Joseph, obviously not by killing people, but by changing the world for the better.

As a gamer since the age of Pac-Man and the very first King's Quest, I have games like Last Ninja, WonderBoy III and Monkey Island among my favorites, and I should have some biases. I also played every Far Cry game from the first. I still consider Far Cry 5 to be among my strongest game experiences. Not only with one of the more memorable stories and antagonists, but darn fun to play too. Far Cry 3 have one noteable villain that was mishandled and the game fleshed out the Far Cry 2 gameplay into our current formula, but even Far Cry 4 improved it quite a bit.

Far cry 3 was better for its time, 100%. I think next to each other in modern-day though, Far cry 5 is the better game. I think it is a controversial opinion but 5 is my favorite Far Cry game. It had a really immersive, well-acted, and topical storyline, with all f what we've come to expect from a Far Cry game. It didn't reinvent the wheel by any stretch, but it did just kind of add to what the foundation of what Far Cry 3 already was.

Personally I really hate the region checkpoints system and the kidnappings of 5 and the goofy tone of the NPCs clashes with the fact that a crazy cult is going around killing everyone. honestly i may be biased because i played farcry5 before farcry3 but in my opinion, the protagonist in 5 being mute didnt matter much to me and I just enjoyed it more. I guess it isnt that fair to compare the two because 3 is pretty dated by now but i just overall had more fun playing 5 and the game just felt more charming to me, and the side characters were more loveable like nick rye or sharky. And the soundtrack was off the charts. The feeling of sneaking up to an outpost and hearing one of the seed family members voice over a speaker while hearing other cult members speaking was awesome. Driving down those roads was awesome. The fact that something so insane took place in such a normal atmosphere like montana is so cool in every way. I liked that the rook was wh9o you wanted them to be, made it more personal and left a bigger impact on me

Thanks for the wholesome and detailed review, makes me want to buy the game now. One thing I love about mute protagonist is that the other characters talk to me, instead of talking to the protagonist. I am the protagonist, and I think how I want to think, my feelings and thoughts about the storyline is not affected, influenced or dictated by the protagonist's perspective. Sometimes I said out loud: "Why TF would you say that!" when Ajay or Jason says something that I feel like don't fit.

the reason i prefer 5 to 3 is stealth. im not big on stealth, i very much like getting in big gun fights. there are lots of moments within the story of 3 where you have to sneak or its a fail and i just dont enjoy that.

I loved both games, Far Cry 3 holds a slight edge just because of the story was more of a story. Far Cry 5 was more-so clearing outposts till you trigger the quest. I did like playing it with my friend though. Far Cry 5 was more fun but that was probably thanks to the co-op

I like 3 and 5 because in both games you have a sense of efficacy with your weapons, they are brutal, efficient, like a real firearm. 6 sucked because they turned it into COD and enemies were bullet sponges. 3 made you really feel like a survivor, human enemies were the least of your worries.

I would say that the story in 3 (aka vaas) is better, but love how Joseph just loses his mind the futher you get in the game. The way you see him breakdown as his family dies, is just amazing. Not to mention the soundtrack of Far Cry 5 is the best sound track in any game for me, right behind is Far Cry 3. (Help me faith is the best one :D)

I played Far Cry 5 first (it was my first Far Cry game) and it was my favourite game for a while. The only things that really bothered me was that you can't play the game after the ending without starting a new game or new game+ and that, like you said, you are constantly pulled aside when exploring. Also the silent protagonist, but I didn't realise how bad that is for a Far Cry game until I played a bit of 4 and 3. The only really bad thing about 3 (from what I have played) is that it gives me a slight headache when and after I play. It might be because I play on an Xbox one though.

It was my least favorite farcry lol and farcry being my favorite franchise i preordered the hope county edition of 5 which was 180 usd and because that wouldnt arrive until the day after release and so i could play right at midnight i also bought the 60 dollar base digital game so NOBODY wanted to love 5 as much as i did lmao and while i can overlook many of the smaller issues i had with it i.e silent character , takedowns not as great , forced progression ect ect .... My biggest problem was it was just ridiculously way to easy even on the new "infamous" difficulty and without getting any health upgrades and enemy tags and aim assist off and only using boomer with that god awful regenerating health there was not 1 single part from start to all 3 of the crappy endings that was even remotely challenging !! I achieved the survival of the fittest for primal (100% completion-expert difficulty- survivor mode on - permadeath on) so i need a challenge lol 5 just held your hand and new dawn looked so bad it was the first farcry that i skipped and never played

Ubisoft took a risk that didn't pay off with making the character have no personality, but that's just the thing the character is meant to be just vessel for you to see the world, you personalize the character because the character is meant to be you, not a fictional character like jason or ajay, the villains are talking to you, not the deputy, and it's easy to see that for some, it worked as intended, as some people actually came to the conclusion that joseph was right. Imo 3, 4 and 5 are all equally good games, I've played every one of them through multiple times, and I've reached this opinion through the fact that I enjoy all of them equally when I get boom to play one of them, I will propably play 1 1/2 times over before changing to another game. Imo the optimal far cry game would be that every great element from 3 and 4 would be dumped onto far cry 5 or every great element from 4 and 5 would be dumped on far cry 3, the first option for the setting, the second for the tatau and player customization.

farcry 3 beautiful, gorgeous tropical island world and exotic wildlife. better explosions. the enemies are more funny and interactive while Jason talks too. farcry 5 dull world. enemies are mostly quiet. however, there many things to do in farcry 5. overall, i think farcry 3 is still the best.
