Far Cry 4 graphics downgraded?! E3 demostration vs. Retail version

and the frame rate! why can't a GTX 770 OC not run this game at least on High with 60FPS, the consoles run it on ultra apparently (as they have said) and they get no FPS drops and 30FPS solid, really? they just downgraded the game again so that it looks similar to the consoles so fanboy's are happy, but now we PC gamers pay with poor arse ports and crippling FPS. now I am really pissed, just a quick comparison Battlefield 4 ultra with heaps of explosions = 90-100Fps lowest FarCry 4 ultra not moving at all = 40-50 enough has been said

***** we have it on the ps4 and on my pc. The ps4 does not run it on ultra. The difference is light and day compared to a PC. On ultra I don't go below or higher than 60fps even in the level editor when I cap out on how much AI and objects you can use. I own a gtx780 which is roughly the same price as a ps4. Do you own enough ram? Is your bios up to date? Did you upgrage your drivers? This game runs smooth for most my friends with lowerend cards. But the ps4 is not running this game in ultra. Maybe medium with some high settings. The fact I can watch the grass pop up in open fields as it loads its the first give away. The textures are MUCH smaller. The textures don't have any detail which means its lacking tessellation and doesn't use godrays. I think it uses fog from direct x 7 tech demos. Your best bet is a new Card. Pc games use much more effects. If you ever dabble with the Unreal engine or Cryteks engine and make a crazy level and click console prevew you'll see just how waterdown the latest consoles are. Don't me wrong I LOVE the ps4. Sadly it just pushes graphics out like my desktop from a few years ago.

There's a lot less snow than before and it's more "flat" than before! and the lighting is also a little downgraded! I bet you anything, they're going to downgrade the beauty we saw called GHOST RECON WILDLANDS too before it releases. I heard from somewhere or someone on KZbin that Ubisoft promised they were no longer going to show off bad-ass graphics they can't be 100% sure of and this was at least A YEAR or so before showing off "Wildlands" but I still bet all of you $100 that they're going to downgrade it in some way. ( I think I might have heard this from ReviewTechUSA not sure though. ) These assholes got away with it when I bought Watch Dogs even though I was disappointed but now I think they're just overdoing it almost as if they mean to do it on purpose and honestly they're just fucking their whole fan base a little bit more with each release. Most noticeable differences I saw were a change in the lighting (brighter at E3?), more volumetric dust and smoke, more vegitation, and that waterfall was totally changed. I'll bet what they do is jam a scene with as much stuff as possible for E3 but leave the rest of the open world empty so it runs just as smooth. They also probably script the AI to a degree to they don't show off its quirks or problems, and it saves processing power. Not to mention they run it on the most powerful PC they can find

Just show us the downgrade graphics on E3 like Watch Dogs, the explosions looks like a total joke as well other effects and downgrade it. PC's have better graphics anyway, and yet they give us this shitty version that looks like a preschooler colored it. There are no awesome shadows, cool sunlight and beautiful, vibrant colors. Well if I turn nvidia options on it doesn't change the fact that there's still less vegetation and objects in retail version than in e3 version. Those options only affect the lighting etc. And the reason I used ultra options for this video is that I believe Ubisoft showed us FC4 in E3 with PS4. Nvidia options are PC exclusive options which PS4 doesn't have so I thought with ultra settings it should look more close to the PS4 version they showed us.

Oh my goodness! I have never thought of it that way. Literally made me feel very disappointed with Ubisoft. They have already done this to The Crew, Watch Dogs, etc. I mainly got the game because of seeing that E3 gameplay because I love sightseeing and beautiful places but looking at the actual game got me very distracted and disappointed, I will never watch an E3 gameplay from Ubisoft ever again but instead I will see the gameplay from people like you myself. To be honest I think the technology has been made to play beautiful looking games and it is being held back. I believe the majority of demo's are actually what our current gen should be looking like. Two years into it's life cycle I am not seeing as much progress as I would have liked. When Apple release iphone 6 for example they have already built and finalised iphone 7 and are working on iphone 8. They always keep us a model behind and the same goes for gaming. It's just a way of stringing us along and taking our hard earned money for what they know to be an inferior product, even like all this DLC and micro transaction bullshit. No one is really pushing boundaries and gaming is starting to feel somewhat stale and dishonest. I am sick of it.

Something I notice in most games about downgrade. Most times the graphics is not the worst part but instead the light and shadow FX has the worst downgrades. You can get a normal game and use a mod that change only the light and shadow FX you will clearly see the difference.

FarCry 4 have more graphics options after the 1.4 patch, enabling a lot of Gameworks effects (nvidia only) but something is weir in the lighting of the retail footage, the game is not that dark, actualy the Sun brigh is like e3 demo in retal game.

So I've done some digging: Ubisoft does this with the game ENGINE, but while confining the world to make a "show-world" of sorts. Thus this content CAN be in FC4, should they downgrade the whole world's size, thus compromising performance. Nonetheless this is some pretty shady false advertising.

Sadly, we are going to have to wait till PS4 and xbox one is fully phased out to see this level of immersion and detail in games. PC gamers need to also understand that most people don't own 4k dollar PC's. Gaming developers will never make a game for your market, which is quite small in comparison to the rest of the market. People! We're in 4k generation but only a few games on pc work with that quality. Both PS4 and XONE ain't as good as we expected it. I don't have a good pc for playing games. Actually I play on my xbox 360 and i've been looking to buy the xbox one but we got admit: The graphics of games technology is a little bit late for the real capacity today screens can show. Both xbox one and ps4 are a lie. The next gen called (current now) is already late. Gamers are looking for real impressive graphics. Sure there was an improvement but it could be much better if they invested a little more. These consoles should be prepared for every game in the market in its full capacity. I mean the capacity of the game engine, not the consoles capacity because they are already in full capacity. So don't expect too much for the next few years. The real e3 footage we want to see in our living rooms is a reality still far from happening. Maybe on the NEXT generation. Hopefully I'm wrong. My best regards for all the gamers out there.

+Jordan Maia (jc93) 4k is still very enthusiast. Most systems can still barely handle 1080p, consoles included. 4k won't be a thing until at the least the next generation of consoles. The actual hardware needs to catch up, but VR seems to be trumping 4k in the race to who can do what.

If Far Cry 4 have the graphic as good as Far Cry 3 and 5 the gameplay might be more fun :) Especially the character looks might look better

by the looks of it, there are some things removed and some were changed, and I can't tell why people complain about a graphics downgrade or some things not being there. Every removal and change has a reason. I've worked in game designing a few times before and I understood why, developing a game is hard, even with a heavy amount of team at your disposal. Try making a game and see how it feels to be in the shoes of a game designer. I recommend starting with Unity or other good engine softwares. (Note that the game is still really beautiful and the map was huge to begin with, and a missing mission and a few removals isn't gonna change that.)

+MathewGolezerg well they shouldn't lied about the graphics in the first place. Like Ryse Son of Rome, the graphics are downgrade but not as terrible like what Ubisoft did.

Let's say u like FarCry with e3 graphic but my angle of view is different they don show all game with e3 graphics but in retail lighting and water look way better what happened in FC3 Vass was looking like cartoon character and rope and also weapons lighting too but in retail meabye they downgrade vegetation effects. They don't downgrade it just they make it to look good and it can run good on consoles (which are lower rank than pc)

final version is shaded better, other is brighter doesn't necessarily maker it better. final game has a more muted color scheme. as for the vegetation, seems like they just moved it around. not for the sake of downgrading. and its a shame the level's not in the game, but thats game development for ya. And I don't put a change in level design the same as a graphics downgrade. But just my opinion. nice comparison btw

Its actually funny that we keep falling for this. Ubisoft loves to show off their games with scripted gameplay. They always seem to play an entirely different build of a game compared to what they officially release.

Yea . Do they really think that people dont notice that it's scripted? ... I mean , I personally would have loved to fly down there with a wingsuit but graphics wise ... The game didnt change that much , it's much worse in other Ubi games tho

I though it is not true. But I can see that now. I can see that in the division and other games. I have played AC 4 recently and there is also worse graphics and more than from the E3 demo that's for sure. Funny is that it is a demo, the full game should be better :D. Now, if I see new mind blowing Ubisoft game, I will tell myself that the game won't be that great.

Take NVIDIA on, and MSAA x8 of 1440p, and play Original version, than u see looks E3.

You need to use NVIDIA settings in the game if you want graphics like on E3 demonstration. Someone likes Ultra settings more than NVIDIA settings, it's a mater of taste. Sometimes game looks more real with Volumetric Fog (Ultra) but sometimes NVIDIA settings looks awesome that is just insane. If you use AMD video card im not sure if you can use that settings or maybe Ultra is max for AMD cards?

Ubisoft downgrades games from videos, it's all good. No Man's Sky lies about multiplayer by talking, world loses its mind. I guess word of mouth is more impactful than visual evidence.

Yeah well it was obviously cut off...it's a shame because I like far cry 4 very much ... Iam also extremely disappointed at the dlc offering, I mean all the exclusive misions like blood diamond or the yak farm or the other one called syringe they are just boring missions, and don't get me started on the coop fiasco called escape from durgesh...that was just fucking atrocious, Iam hoping the valley of yetis will have similar lenght like bad blood from watch dogs had...
