Nice little hat tip to probably the most mysterious yet interesting villain of the far cry franchise so far
@LRG_Tech4 жыл бұрын
But was he the villain tho? Sure he provided weapons to both sides of a war, effectively profiting off death, but he never says he gets pleasure from it. The leaders of the rebel factions r more the villains in fc2, even at the end the jackal offers to give his life to save innocent people who were caught up in the conflict. He was certainly one of the most interesting characters, but also more complex than the rest of the villains in the series. It was never evil for the sake of being evil, he just was there, never chose a side, and believed that humanity will eventually destroy itself.
@Jackw00pw00p24 жыл бұрын
@@LRG_Tech I think that last part is what truly separates him from the rest of the franchise in regards to both villains and characters in general. I think the villains themselves represent a level of evil amidst themselves, but the Jackal wasn't necessarily an evil man. He was pragmatic, ruthless and cunning but agreed that he didn't take pleasure or any actual form of benefit besides profit from the weapons he sold. Another thing that I've always considered about him is the fact that nothing is truly that factual in terms of what is conclusive to the events of the second game. He does help in the refugees to escape the warzone, rescues the main character during the sandstorm and even spares him at the beginning. But we don't know if was strictly for his own gain or the player's, his fate remains a mystery and thusly he could still be alive and operating.

Trashbin Far Cry 2 Remake ? I'd rather have a Far Cry 2 Remaster or a New Far cry set in a coup d'etat warzone ( hopefully eastern europe ) and you plays as a US Spec ops Veteran ( hopefully Delta Force or USN SEALS ) or a US merc instead a police or civillian. And make the game start have 3 choices Join the Government, or Join the Rebels, or Go independently, Which means to me is All of those 2 choices ( from the rebels or the govt ) have good and bad endings and one true good ending which means you doesn't ( so 5 endings and the last one is managing out alive ) according to the perspective of the gamer. And for gameplay ? I Beg ubi to give us a lot more weapons a, a more diverse weapon clothing and vehicle customization, weapons degradation since we're playing as a US Spec ops vet or a US Merc. And make the villain or the protagonist helper ( depends on what you choose the rebels or the government if rebels then the rebel leader if government then the general ) smarter than jackal and more weaponized than joseph seed.

The name, the looks, jack's past as a arms dealer and Jack also was in the navy/army if I remember correctly. The only reason why Valory hired him is because of his military training. It's also interesting how everyone in FC1 & FC2 is wearing shirts or military uniforms. Jack wears a Hawaiian shirt on this tropical island and is thus arguably wearing the most "native" clothing. You can't break a man the way you do a dog or a horse, the harder you beat a man, the taller he stands. To break a man's will, to break his spirit, you have to break his mind. Men have this idea that we can fight with dignity, that there's a proper way to kill someone. It's absurd, its aesthetic, we need it to endure the bloody horror of murder. You must destroy that idea, show them what a messy horrible thing it is to kill a man, and then show them that you relish in it. Shoot the wound, and then execute the wounded, burn them, take them in close combat. Destroy their preconceptions of what a man is and become their personal monster. When they fear you, you become stronger, you become better. But let's never forget, it's a display, it's a posture, like a lions roar, or a gorilla thumping at his chest. If you lose yourself in the display, if you succumb to the horror, then you become the monster. You become reduced, not more than a man, but less. And it could be fatal.

So, interesting theory I heard: You, the player character, who has all the gun skills of a god, are meant as a parallel to the Jackal, and have zero backstory or character outside of the THINGS YOU DO, are, in fact, the Jackal. The more you think about it, the more this makes sense. The Jackal is a troubled guy who originally came to the country to help and seemingly lost his mind somewhere along the way as Africa kept establishing new warlords every time an old one would get eliminated. He is an arms dealer and, coincidentally, you work with black market arms dealers eliminating competition so that you can buy NEW, more powerful GUNS at your shop. EVERY npc you run into outside of Resistance holds and towns is hostile towards you ON SIGHT. In fact, your mission providers who you work with for seemingly no reason other than to fuel your own green/means of inflicting violence on the factions and provide missions with the understanding that you can get the job done. You are saved numerous times by the Jackal but the Jackal himself is NEVER seen interacting with ANY other character and by the end of the game you both effectively have the same villainous status. Now the Jackal also may be implied to be a former doctor, an aid for the people here in Africa; the innocent refugees who are the only people he seems to give a shit about, right? Now stop and think about those low health healing animations you perform; digging bullets out of yourself with pliers, snapping limbs back into place, if someone was to do these things so confidently and jadedly, they would have to be someone with experience snd callus. Guess who fits that bill? Even seemingly little things, like how the Jackal describes near the end that you're both "terminal" implying that you both have malaria. Didn't it feel a little strange how both endings imply you kill yourself? Ever feel like it might have been forced? Well it wasn't; your SOURCE of malaria pills throughout the game comes from people you provide passport papers to so that they may leave the country. They are directly trading you a means of staying alive just a little bit longer so that they can get out of the country, which the crux of the final act is all about; sabotaging both UFLL and APR and bribing the border guards to allow people out. You, effectively, no longer have a source of pills and even if you stay alive, you're a loose end. This is why the player character becomes so compliant; their only mission was the "Kill the Jackal" which is an assured goal at this point, but you've wittingly done all of his work alongside him the whole game, and all for the sake of saving the true innocents of Africa. And there are PLENTY more parallels to be drawn, but it all boils down to the fact that you are a nobody who happens to mirror the Jackal and far too many ways, a somebody with a name. And everything in the game makes more sense once you look at it like this.

Considering all the contacts The Jackal had in Africa, I don't think he was killed in either options you could have made in FC2 ending. The Jackal's mission was to fight corruptcy, saving many people he can on the way. He knew things weren't good outside of Africa either, maybe he escaped from Africa so he can stop corruptcy in other places as well. I think it can make sense why he survived both endings as well. You cannot know for sure that The Jackal armed the bombs in the briefcase ending... Neither you can know that he killed himself after handing over the briefcase in the other ending. By listening to this cook here, he knows what really happened. Means one of the endings is canon but that doesn't mean The Jackal died. I have an assumption that one of the later FC games might be set in 2058 (considering Far Cry 6 isn't at this point) and we will know what really happened to him. Probably going to be a little easter egg but nonetheless its gonna tell us the real ending of The Jackal's story.

Though I absolutely do want another Far Cry game that has that grounded, realistic, more adult feel to it. Just hearing the Jackal talking about shipping arms across the borders, and his process, as well as "this romantic notion that all these weapons were dispersed after the Soviet Union fell in the Cold War" is infinitely more interesting to me than this weird hallucination fetish Ubisoft has now. It reminds me when Ubisoft would dip their toes into global politics for their game's, like in the old Tom Clancy games (especially Splinter Cell).
@PANCAKEMINEZZ4 жыл бұрын
@@TylerHalldorson This is true, however, upon thinking about more, I can definitely see where he's coming from. A soldier of fortune and mercenary (as you play in FC2) makes sense to be tearing his way across Africa, in a situation basically fighting conscripts and everyday civies who were handed a gun for this cause they think is right. However, these mercs don't do this with great ease either. Our PC is suffering through malaria, and FC2 is pretty good at showing you aren't a super hero. I mean, the shootout at Mike's Bar is enough to set that up. Meanwhile, the college kid who just landed on this island of pirates can relatively easily make his way through them, AND a band of trained mercs to become a "warrior". Now, this isn't bad, per se, but it's definitely detached from reality for more spectacle (though to 3's credit, I think they do a decent job of showing Jason grow from college kid to warrior, and in the context of the game it makes enough sense) but definitely not a realistic scenario. 4 had a similar thing, as Ajay was never trained, yet he's capable of going up again an entire army of trained soldiers. Again, for gameplay purposes, it makes enough sense, but if you look at the world literally, as is seen by gameplay, (and you have to, even Pagan Min acknowledges this at the second dinner meeting, as you had to "murder your way to get up here") it is ridiculous that this could happen. So, I'm leaning more on the other guy's side for this one, both in time and realism, FC2 is a different beast from what the series would evolve into. Though I'm happy FC2 is still remembered by Ubisoft. It's easily my favorite out of the franchise and one day I hope we get a remaster for it. I need to see those gun jam slaps with a new coat of paint!

Well far cry 5 takes place in 2018 and new dawn takes place in 2035 so we have to wait 32 years until 2058 comes out in far cry universe to find out new information about the jackal could this be that the jackal comes out again and makes his dirty hands work in far cry 6 or 7.

Body not found? So the canon ending was to let Jackal sacrifice himself by blowing up the mountain pass, Instead of the player?
@royliber38243 жыл бұрын
@@Stranger0736w7 I actually think that both endings could be somewhat canon based on the cook's dialouge. Hear me out, The Jackal might have sent someone else to rig the bombs with the car battery, or hand over the briefcase himself and escape with the refugees. Im obviously not saying both endings can happen at once BUT each one of them can be canon depending what we will see in 2058 apparently. I think the important thing for The Jackal is that the player won't survive, even if he done good by the end of it he still armed both strongest sides of Africa (most likely). He probably was scared that the CIA would keep hunting him down for that so he had to fake his death for the player who was sent to Africa to stop him, sacrificing the player on the way so the CIA would think the mission was really over. Its just a theory, for me it kinda makes sense more and more in this dialouge why the body was never found.

could the jackel be the one who sold weapons to the cult
@elcobra983 жыл бұрын
Unlikely. Jackal used to sell weapons resold to him from disarms at 3rd world countries. Usually reused firearms from about 30 to 40 years ago (hell, perhaps even more). Eden's Gate on the other hand seems to actually have next to new weaponry (AR-15s for instance). That said, it's not even clear he still lives anyway.

Considering nobody knows what happened to Jack Carver and he and The Jackal are very similar, the theory around them being the same person is too coincidental to be fake. The Jackal is out there somewhere; and since all these games are loosely tied together - what with references to past characters, and especially Hurk and Willis being reoccurring characters - it wouldn't surprise me if The Jackal made his appearance again very soon.

This is how I play the game. I am the same person who was the player in Far Cry 2. He was apprehended upon his arrival back to America after the authorities learned of his crimes in Africa. However, he was offered a deal after spending time in bars. People were well aware of his skills and sent him with Hope County law enforcement and a US Marshall to arrest Joseph Seed. That's his secret. He became the Jackal when he hunted the Jackal. He doesn't need the case to be declassified. He's living evidence.

Theory : The Jackal is somehow the younger Jack carver and he bribed the guards with more blood diamonds to spare him and thus the events of Far cry instincts and evolution took place . The experiments which Krieger did on him to make Jack a perfect super soldier would eventually give him the ability to not age and stay young . This can give us a great game , if Far Cry 2058 is like Far Cry 6 where people haven't moved on from the past and still use weapons like the AK , M4 ,etc . If that happens we may see some futuristic weapons like the OICW with some advancements or even the AJM9 which has much more similarities to a berreta as Jack can have easy access to those weapons because of his Arms Dealer position.

One by one they all get taken out, or betray each other, until the last one standing helped the jackal right before he, too, died.
