On sale this game is definitely worth it. Lots of fun to be had and looks and sounds absolutely gorgeous. That said, it is a travesty that there is no cross platform co-op support. All the game’s vehicles are built for co-op in mind so not having cross platform is so lame. The location, weapons, vehicles, etc. all look great and are fun to explore. Thankfully, as much as Ubisoft implemented their usual open world with wayy too many collectibles, in this game more than all their others it at least feels worth it and entertaining to go to every single collectible. Some are mini puzzles or treasure hunts. The dumb AI and craziness (gunfights mixed with random animal encounters and crazy ai) can be very hilarious as well as frustrating at times. Even on the hardest difficulty, it is not truly that it is difficult, but rather you just get spammed by random attacks. The spawns are really bad. They can either overwhelm you or you go up to a military section and find just one or two guys guarding it. With such a potentially awesome story due to the theme and the amazing actor the main villain is, it is a shame the game just goes the goofy route with a bunch of crazy, dumb, diverse characters. It is just a lot of dumb fun to be had and the lightheartedness works. The music (and sounds) is awesome. Next Far Cry’s need good AI though, no micro transactions hopefully, and they should go the Rockstar route of having interesting open worlds without filling every inch with something to collect. Also, remove the multiple ammo types. The game is too convoluted with soo many unenecessary weapon choices already, the different ammo types is just annoying. And now that Far Cry has this open world goofy fun Just Cause gameplay, Ghost Recon needs to go back to serious themes with good AI.

I expected a wait for a sale and I fully understand that score. I think Ubisoft are caught in a trap between "don't fix what ain't broken" and the desire to innovate, and it's a fine line they have to walk - every innovation to the table brings a risk to ruin the entire experience. The problem is that their formula is predictable, painfully so at times, but still works quite well in delivering fun and immersion. As for me I haven't been this excited for a game in a long time. There's something about the game loop in Far Cry games that's just so enticing to me, it's like both a sandbox and a story intetertwined. And with "random events" happening almost around every corner there's never a dull moment. Honestly can't wait to play!

I usually liken Ubisoft to Mcdonalds. They're product something that's isn't going to innovate and it's always very formulaic. You'll get something that will fill you up but you really notice the difference if you compare it to something that's been crafted with more care.
@darthva313 жыл бұрын
That's what I always say about Ubisoft game, especially because how often they release their games and you could basically see the formula in every single one of their games, no matter if it's Far Cry, AC or Watch_Dogs. Sometimes you can see they tried but didn't want to take that risk to ensure a safe sale. Are they terrible? No. But do they warrant a fully priced purchase? Also no (I used my points for that 20% discount). But at least they're fun which is fine for me as someone who just wants to wind down after a stressful day of work.
@NoName-oc6wz3 жыл бұрын
@@darthva31 Exactly, at the end of the day gaming is supposed to be fun and I feel that a lot of other developers are forgetting that. For example Rockstar games make some top notch games with amazing graphics. However I feel like they don't understand that people don't want to play missions where you fail the mission if you walk a few steps away from the mission area. Ubisoft games of late just need a bit more polish and they would be fantastic. More than that however, I'm happy that they still try to make games fun.

Switching ammo all the time has really put me off. Same issue mentioned by Skillup. That and the return of the irritating endless spawning enemies that bugged me in 5. Reall shame as I enjoy Far Cry. I don't get why developers add mechanics just for the sake of it. They surely realise that a lot of it is just annoying and detracts from the flow of the game.

@@loblawbomb1532 Exactly I was looking forward to some dumb fun, running about without the zillion collectables, endless crafting and game mechanics that seem crammed in every game. It makes them feel so laboured and annoying. I've been feeling burnt out by endless open world's filled with pointless busy work. End up playing Pac Man and having way more fun there than chasing a bloody fox in Ghosts...
