Another shared day of activity on the farm, with not a wasted moment or movement. Maria is really on top of everything that she does in her mountain paradise. Moreover, Maria knows exactly where everything she needs is to be found and that alone makes her a paragon, as her stock of tools and utensils seems vast indeed. All around her we also see reminderrs of her skills with needles and threads, by way of the beautiful decorated cushions Maria has made. Her ability to make and mend is on par with her culinary skills and once again I find myself in awe of this bucolic wonder woman. We have a very old cider maker (it’s well over 100 years old) at my family farm. I love seeing that no matter how many miles or the difference in culture, that our old ways of doing things are so similar everywhere! I also find it so beautiful how Maria is so faithful to God, I’m sure she is Orthodox, I’m Roman Catholic. We are both old farm girls, she and I have a lot in common!
