I live here in Alaska and have for over thirty two years now and lived in Barrow Alaska for three of them years and miss going out on the tundra and getting fresh berries and making pancakes with them and pies but do love the fishing here in Alaska and the adventures

Cool video. Alaska is probably my favorite place to visit. Breathtaking to say the least. Only went after salmon when I’ve been there. “Control the controllable, embrace the suck, and be ready for the joy.” Love it. Words to live by. Have a blessed day brother.

Looks like a killer adventure man! Managing expectations can really change a trip for the positive or the negative. I know I have seen both sides of that coin. haha
@GilbertRowley3 ай бұрын
For sure, we all get so excited for our trips, and rightfully so... but expectations can be troublesome if kept unchecked. I've been very guilty of that as well! Glad you enjoyed it!

@@GilbertRowley I was fly fishing on the talkeetna River. I went on guided fishing trip on a jet boat. There were six of us on the boat. I was the only one that paid to fly fish. Everyone else was using spinning rods to catch(snag) sockeye. When we arrived the guide started handing out spinning rods with a fly that looked like a long shank hook wooly worm pattern and a split shot. I said I paid to fly fish. He handed me a 6 weight fly rod with a pink egg fly on it. I was bewildered. He walked me over to a clear stream was running into the Talkeetna and told me to cast into the stream. I asked what will I catch? He smiled and said "you'll see"! He walked back over to the spinning rod robots. I caught about 30 grayling! I caught Dolly Varden, and other (trout/ salmon/char) I really didn't know what I was catching after a while! It was glorious!!! Like fishing in a fisherman's Dude ranch!!!

@@AMPLIFIED123 That's awesome! I've actually fished the Talkeetna 3 times in the past, I love that fishery! Sounds like you had a fantastic time, and the boat ride up that river is just as fun as the fishing! I love that place! Glad they got you into some great fish!

@@GilbertRowley I have fly fished all over salt and fresh. The jet boat was the best time I ever had on a boat. Every cast something tried to yank the rod out of my hand. I don't know if heard about this. A freind of mine fished some of the lower lakes in Alaska. He told me he was catching grayling and big Bows on dry fly. I wanted to go back and do that. Alas I never did.😢 I love the jet boat. We ran over log jams on the way up!!!! I fished on double hulled flats skiffs. They would do less than 4". My LTS 220 bay boat w/ a 250HP SUZUKI 4 stroke would go in 11" on a flat at 65. That was fun but not like that jet boat!
