Hello It is interesting to see the difference in how they are doing things from what we did where I grew up. We had other tools to make butter, and we salted a lot more then they do, and all berries was cooked because we only had a small cold-water-source all year through, a very small stream that fed us and all the animals, and now deep-freezer. When I grew up and started to do my own cooking, I did not like so much sugar in my jam. My mom had to use that to preserve it and she melted wax and poured on top of the jam and all was stored in a cabinet or our earth-cellar. We also dried meat and fish, and also smoked fish. All tools my father used when harvesting the hay, he made him self, like rakes, all handles of his knifes, axes, scythes, We also made our own brushes, ladles, spoons, forks etc, mostly from carving out from birch-trees. I must say, I should wish to show this man how my dad and the men made the handles for scythes that I am very sure, works out much easier to use then this man is using. (he can google for scythes in Norway and then see if he can find how we made them)
