Bryscen Rorah I can live with your placement of "Davy Crockett's", Fess Parker&John Wayne are interchangeable for 2nd & 3rd place for me. Historically, Billy Bob was probably the most accurate of the three.

My dog was put down no more than 4 hours ago. About 15 minutes before the vet came I played this song for her on my Stratocaster. If nothing else be left of me or my works when eternity passes, let this lonely comment remain as a last testament to her existence. If this means nothing to anyone else, at least there will be something left to mark her life in the end.

Leonardo's Truth I actually remember seeing Fess's obituary in the paper the day after he died. I couldn't help but think, "Ain't that a shame. This man inspired a massive craze in the '50s and defined a huge part of Disney's identity, as well as America's at the time, and no one makes a big sob about how he's finally gone. That's just not right."

I was a kid of about 6 years old when my parents took me to San Antonio to see the Alamo. I was disappointed when I saw Davy Crockett's portrait because I thought it should have looked like Fess Parker. Those were some brave and courageous men who died at the Alamo. Gave Sam Houston more time to form his army before he had to battle with Santa Anna. Just think, if it hadn't been for those men's brave sacrifice, Texas might still be part of Mexico, and the illegals would be trying to get into Oklahoma and Louisiana.

I'm sure there's a big difference between the real David Crockett who died at the Alamo, and the mythological legend, the one portrayed on television who was adapted for entertainment purposes; but I still love the legend and will never forget the show with Fess Parker, who I thought was the real Davy when I was a boy. On afterthought, I think he just had a good agent. bbbbbboB

David Crockett was captured during the battle of the Alamo. He was later killed as an enemy combatant. This was verified by a Mexican soldier's diary who fought in the battle. It is interesting to note that the surviving slave's versions of the events were never taken into consideration nor are their names or full names accounted for. It's a disservice to the true history of Texas.

@thacongress Yeah, the Apaches didn't seem to think so when they took both Mexican and American scalps. Not to mention that the Mexican government was waging a war against Native American tribes inhabiting Texas before the war with white settlers. Apparently, the Native Americans had issue with Mexico laying claim to their lands in Texas after independence from Spain.
