@@ArcturianLessons As I German I think she acted very human most of the time even though there was criticsm from people like Horst Seehofer, our minister for inner affairs. However I work in daycare and during the last two lockdowns I felt like she as well as all other politicians left us daycare workers alone. Officially there was an emergency care situation, that's right, but it felt kinda like a joke cause almost everyone had access to it. Seriously here in Berlin there was a list saying "If one parent works in one of these professions, they may still bring there kids to daycare". But that list was 28 pages long and it included many people who could work from home. And that was still during the time when many of us did not have the chance to get fully vaccinated.

She just always encapsuled German values and attributes almost perfectly: Stoic, bureaucratic, boring, not sexy. But also steady, efficient, iron-willed and unbending. Not reactionary, but always patient and waiting for an opportunity. She just always looked like he picture-perfect German politician, even and especially in the face of Trump, Putin and Erdogan. Those men always tried to get a raise out of her and quickly found out what an absolute unmovable rock she is. She might very well be the only other leader Putin respects. Erdogan learned early not to piss her off. Trump never learned, but he came to power long after Merkel, and Merkel outlived him politically too, just as she did with George W Bush and Obama. The woman is more a force of (bureaucratic) nature than actual human and I'm not sure we will see someone like her in quite some time, anywhere in the world. I hated most of her politics and yet I already miss her.

The alternative was the largest humanitarian crisis in Spain, Italy and Greece since WW2. I think in 16 years, you made so many decisions that literally everyone has more than one good reason not to like you anymore. Because every decision always has opposition, so it`s inevitable that the list of people that are unhappy and dont want to see you anymore for one or another reason is growing. Thats what happened. After she announced her retirement, her popularity went up again. It was her last test for a "farewell in honor "and she passed! Germany may has some issues and yes, in 16 years, you also make many mistakes. Some things are not like they should be and need increased attention now. But I think overall and considering the rest of the world, she did pretty well. I mean germany is highly respected, it`s the only "old economy" that can keep its position (uk, france, italy etc. are all in decline), the finances are stable despite corona expenses (everyone blamed her for her conservative savings policy, now we are one of a very small list of nations that can handle corona without having greek style national debts ), it`s safe and accoring to representative studies, most of the people are pretty happy and statisfied with their life here overall! It was time for the change, but I think the people who bash her are hysterical. I think the ones who bash her the most in the past 2 years will be the first ones who want her back!

I think Brazil could be a bigger economy than France. But France is still a major economic powerhouse (beside of Germany) in Europe. Aviation, electrical equipments, and automobiles industry for example, France is still one of the leading country.

The cool thing Is that even though she is a woman and most likely had all nasty politician men who wanted her power trying to make her trip, she managed not to screw up as big as some of her predecessors, in fact Germany even washed it's face by taking refugees recently, showing the kind, human, womanly face of a caring leader who made it all go from something terrible historically, to something that shows there's much more to Germany, we all know because of its history that Germany had to accept some humiliation from other super powers 1st and then some ostricizing, shaming etc because of further bad decisions, 2nd, so in the present ,Germany needed someone cool headed, strategic, even calculating leader and that's what she did, I think she may have dirtied her hands and her científic morals in exchange for a good place for her country in many ways, the best characteristics of a public servant is to work work work, no luxuries, no time for one's self, no friends, just country, she embodies that, people fail to recognize that in order to get some, you give some, in the international scene and in the interior some sectors of society are in fact jokers that can be used in many ways to adjust economics and politics due to their very little relevance and contribution to society and that's just the way government is, the personal tragedy is only herd of when the TV and media owners want you to fail, if you pay them off ,the tragedy of society will never be known and if you neither pay them nor forcefully stop them then they think they can be equivalent to a socially elected power who'll be your opposition in hopes to coerce you into giving them funds or else they'll replace you with all the miss characterisation, miss information and degrading of your image, to implant someone they like, the proof she had support from Germany is her 16 years and there's nothing her opposition can do about it, I highly doubt the German people would just take a dictator again and a woman at that, ha, no way jose, if reelection was OK in all counties, some great leaders could've done great things, but this bs of 4-6 year periods creates chaos which seems to be the point of that system which ensures for countries that have no identity nor a clear path to continue to simmer in corruption, greed, hate and tribalism that keeps them from advancing for centuries, the current state of the world seems to have many leaders trapped in a cage of popularity, image, prestige and power while none of that actually feeds or supports the flesh and bones a leader swears to protect
