I'd argue that he also fought the Merc dominance. The second driver is very important in a championship charge, and even though they never managed to come out on top, his and Seb's attempts in 2017 and 18 were still a hard fight and Kimi was not insignificant then, even if it was just that one win.

Kimi's brilliance as a driver always shone through brightly when responding to his engineers mid race when it was quite obvious he already knew what they were trying to tell him about and had been known for shutting the radio off or not responding as it was distracting to him .His responses were hilarious and I think the race engineers thought he didn't understand.Leave me alone, I know what I am doing!

When he says I wouldn't change a single thing in my F1 career even championship, that statement says it all, he is retiring in peace hanging his boot with head held high satisfied with all he has achieved. Even in today's days when I think about my teenage memories when I fell in love with F1, I still wish that KR had a more reliable car with Mclaren, then he would have been retiring with more championships than 1. But he says he wouldn't change a thing! Farewell KR, not sure without KR joining the grid next season I am following F1 for a while, of course, the sport is larger than any sportsman!! but unable to imagine F1 even without KR.

The Iceman will always be remembered. He is one of the reasons why I really got into Formula 1. We should make him Driver of the Day for his final race.
