Hi Charles - you had me guessing for a while, since I couldn't find any use of the word 'holes' in the video - then I figured you were referring to my pronunciation of 'halls'! Please can you help me out? If i bought this do I plug my guitar into it then the alesis into the amp? Do the Jacks allow you to do that? What do I need. I only have a guitar and a Alesis roadfire amp. Thanks nice video btw
@FarewellOldFriends9 жыл бұрын
lninjabigd If your amp is the RoadFire 15, it has no external effects loop, so the connection arrangement you suggest would be your only option. However, as the Microverb 4 expects line-level signals, and your guitar produces a much smaller signal, the result would be a very noisy signal seen by the input to your amp. Also, it's better to put time-based effects after the input gain stage of a guitar amp. You may have to make do with the RoadFire's inbuilt effects and save up for an amp with an effects loop (or more comprehensive inbuilt effects). Thanks for the comment!

Hi Ronnie - Mixer FX (mono) Out to Microverb In (L); Microverb Out (L,R) to Mixer FX return (L,R). For full connection information look at the user manual - a few moments' googling will show you it here: 7132afa424c2f1a2ab6d-54d68a14e2e7c1f76563a2d8c3e9fd82.ssl.cf2.rackcdn.com/981/documents/microverb4_manual.pdf

Is it suitable for an electric guitar?
@FarewellOldFriends3 жыл бұрын
I don't think it has a very high impedance input, so it would make the guitar sound a bit muffled if connected directly. Probably best to put it in your guitar amp's effects (FX) loop, if it has one.

Can you connect this to a speaker without conecting it to a mixer
@FarewellOldFriends7 жыл бұрын
Yes, if the speaker you refer to is a powered monitor. The Mix control sets the amount of reverb or other effects added to the source. Not sure why you would want to do it, though, unless you have a keyboard or other line-level instrument without its own built-in reverb.
@10SergioSuper7 жыл бұрын
Its an amolified monitor speaker i connected it before and it worked just gorgot how i did it u have any idea ? The speaker has left/mono right and aux conection
@FarewellOldFriends7 жыл бұрын
Just connect the Left and Right outs from the reverb to the Left and Right Ins of the powered monitor. Then the Alesis Left and Right Ins just look like the amplifier's Ins, but with added reverb, adjustable via the Mix control.
@10SergioSuper7 жыл бұрын
FarewellOldFriends so i connect the left and right alesis to the left and right monitor where do i connect the mic if the monitor only has left right and aux or headphones
@FarewellOldFriends7 жыл бұрын
OK I assumed that you were working with a keyboard or some other line-level instrument. The Alesis will not work with mic level signals. What make/model of monitor and microphone are you using? Were you using these items when you got it to work before or have you changed any components?

Can somebody please help me? I use a Saffire Pro 40 Interface with Logic Pro X and am looking at getting this reverb, how do I wire it up? and how does it work? Do i have to record the effect on the rack live as it goes in or can i record the track and add the effects later? Debating between rack effects and plug ins but unsure of the capabilities of them both. Thank you.
@FarewellOldFriends8 жыл бұрын
Hi Curtis - The Saffire Pro 40 is a versatile interface, and you should be able to use its MixControl applet to route live signals out of spare line outs to drive an external FX unit (Microverb in his case), and bring its output back in through other line inputs. This could be used for live capture while tracking, or later during remix. You could even use a Logic Pro MIDI track to switch between pre-defined Microverb patches in real time during a mix . Although I have used Logic Pro X on a friend's Mac and know it to be a capable DAW, you would need someone else to go through the fine detail of the setup with you. As I mention in my channel intro, I always recommend that people look for KZbin tutorials on the subject before posting questions - there are plenty of them on this topic - here are two: This guy is using Logic Pro X for external FX: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bKmnc6iOqbaZe7c This guy is using the Saffire Pro 40 for external FX: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j4DPY5ulhdRkiK8 At the end of the day, though, it all seems a bit too much effort - software plugins offer a lot more control and a much wider range of effects with far less hassle, and no physical re-wiring. Good luck!

how would i hook this up to my console? using a subgroup?
@FarewellOldFriends9 жыл бұрын
+Stephen King Hi Stephen - I removed a duplicate post from you - don't know why that was there. Most consoles have FX send and return. Normally a mono send and a stereo return. Connect them to the left/mono in and left/right stereo out on the Microverb, respectively. See 7:34 on my video for the rear panel. This is standard practice - you should not need to use subgroups. Set the Microverb front panel Mix control fully clockwise (wet). Your console user manual will describe the use of external effects, and Page 16 of the Microverb manual (5a18fcdc5c8aa2617926-54d68a14e2e7c1f76563a2d8c3e9fd82.r82.cf2.rackcdn.com/981/documents/microverb4_manual.pdf) describes this also. It's always worth googling for manuals. I know we all hate reading them, but in some cases it helps, especially if your particular console etc. is non-standard. Console manuals will always describe how to connect external effects units. Also search KZbin for the particular thing you want to do. Every conceivable aspect of audio production has been covered by at least one KZbin video - often hundreds! In this case, look at 1:46 on this video (kzbin.info/www/bejne/gXm9mXd3ZrllhKs). Hope that helps!

Could I run a mic into an amp via this?
@FarewellOldFriends7 жыл бұрын
No. This unit expects line level signals (e.g. those produced by domestic hi-fi or professional audio equipment) - your microphone produces a much smaller signal, and needs to be put through a preamp beforehand. Also, the unit has unbalanced inputs, which do not provide phantom powering for condenser mics. If you are using a radio mic, however, you may be able to set its receiver's output to line level. For more information, I recommend you download the User Manual from the Internet and read its specifications, and the section on audio hookup.
@FleshCatOfficial7 жыл бұрын
Does that go for guitars too? Going straight in to the alesis, then outputting to a guitar amp gives out crackly farts at best...I'm guessing it needs the pre-amp also to work properly? Pulling my hair out over here ;-)
@FarewellOldFriends7 жыл бұрын
Did you not download the User Manual? That should have described the limitations of this unit. A guitar gives a very small voltage (higher than - but closer to - mic level than line level), and expects a high-impedance (typically 1 Megohm) input. The Alesis is not designed for this, and you will be working down in the noise. Also, its output will be too high for your guitar amplifier input, and you will hear its noise floor as a raging storm of hiss and crackle. I don't understand why you are persevering with a unit that is clearly designed for line-level use with studio mixers, or at least a guitar combo with a purpose-designed line-level FX loop. I would recommend a multi-effect stomp-box or the like that is designed specifically for live guitar work.
@robinskitube7 жыл бұрын
I use a Focusrite Platinum Trak Master which I picked up on ebay , in fact I have two which I bought for £40 each, from which I plug the output, or outputs from both if you want stereo, into this Microverb 4 's inputs ( it has two, use one for mono or both for stereo) and then the outputs from the Microverb 4 (same thing again) into the line inputs of my Focusrite Scarlett Interface. So if the amplifier your using has line input/s then yes you can. My Trakmaster's have Line in, Microphone in (with or without phantom power) and Instument In, they have onboard compressor and 3 band EQ. A very useful bit of kit and the Alesis Microverb 4 has some really good effects so the two linked together are a good match and it works for me.........

Very noisy litlle critter, has to be dialed in perfect to be useful FWIW
@FarewellOldFriends4 жыл бұрын
The principal noise problem I had with this unit was a low-level 'clattering' from the multiplexed currents through the display LED segments breaking through onto the audio - I assume via the internal power supply rails. It's obviously the LED segments, as the character of the noise changed as the program numbers changed. Very frustrating, and meant I had to run the reverb as hot as possible to swamp the noise. Alesis looked at it and said it was OK, so it must have been a design issue. Maybe I should have modified it to switch off the LEDs when the desired program had been selected!
