Marge is amazing. She doesn't show up until we're 40 minutes in, and with the short time she has she catches the bad guys, brings most of the comic tone, and while she's at it, manages to completely take over as the protagonist. And all while 7 months pregnant. This movie is fantastic.

Marge and Norm are couple goals. Love them! Also this is one of the rare movies where the main character's pregnancy is not the focus of the movie. It's just in the middle of her pregnancy. She doesn't give birth or lose the baby. There are no conversations about whether she can still do the job. Awesome movie!

It’s worth mentioning that this is NOT a true story. The Coens just added that as a storytelling device.

From what I read, the only connection to a real life story was the wood chipper in regards to a man who did something similar to his wife. Truly hideous, not dismissing that. But yeah, the whole plot is otherwise completely fabricated.

THIS. I think you’re supposed to start out believing it, and as the story goes, you finally just have to stop suspending your disbelief. I feel like it’s one of the essential elements that makes Coen films so magical.

I just figured that by now, even the people who've not seen the movie but are familiar with it - particularly film enthusiasts such as these two - or those people who haven't seen it but who are familiar with the work of the Coen Brothers, would know that it's NOT ACTUALLY a true story. I remember as teenager, after seeing it, I tried to scour the Internet for articles about the actual events, which I do for any "True Story" because I need the facts, not the cinematic fictionalized facts.

@@Lensmaster1I think what he's trying to say is this film might not actually be a true story, but it certainly feels like a true story or it most certainly COULD be a true story. I mean, it surely has fooled a lot of people over the years.

Also. The movie is about loneliness. Everyone is alone, with the notable exception of Marge and Norm, which is why their scenes of perfectly mundane married life are so poignant.

I saw this movie for the first time ever a couple of months back and I was so gripped. I still need to see The Big Lebowski. That highway scene gives me such chills, I would compare it to the scenes in David Lynch's 1997 film, Lost Highway.... something about those dark and isolated highways in America gets my heart pumping. I grew up taking those long drives with family overnight and it's creepy.

New to the channel, glad I finally watched this reaction video. I've been watching a bunch of Fargo reaction videos as it's my way of watching the movie for free. I avoided this video for a bit cuz the thumbnail made it look like ya'll were a bunch of goofballs, but this was actually probably the best one so far. You all recognized the actors & knew who they were, connected them to previous films, give credit to Roger Deakins, and have appreciation for the amazing & talented Coen Brothers. You also have an eye for quality cinematography, camera shots, & scriptwriting. Most of the other reactors I watched just didn't have very much deep level film knowledge and it seemed more like an average person watching a movie. This is what I like - seeing people who appreciate good cinema react to good cinema. On that note, more trivia - and a quote attributed to Roger Ebert: "When Gene saw a movie he really admired, he almost glowed. Toward the end of the screening of "Fargo," he walked over to me in the dark and whispered, "This is why I go to the movies."" I will he checking out your other content! But I will say, I wish you had looked up the "true story" claim at the end. No worries, they had us all going for a bit anyway. Cheers ☁️❄️

Hi there, so as someone who actually lives in Brainerd I can tell you it was a weird time when this movie came out. Since it isn't really a true story we all got asked questions and had to set everyone right on that front, dontcha know. We didn't even have an Arby's when this movie came out. So ya, it was a real fun time. I always wondered why they set most of the action in Brainerd but the movie was called Fargo. This was a fun reaction for me to watch.

"or that guy who played in Fargo, I think his name is Steve" Was from "Hey Leonardo" by Blessed Union of Souls, not the Barenaked Ladies but not a bad guess, same era, GOOD TUNE too incidentally. Fargo's a great film and it was the film that made me 1) check out the Coen's back catalogue of films (loved Millers Crossing and Raising Arizona especially) and 2) had me first in line to see "The Big Lebowski" in 98.

I love Marge so much. Her characterisation is just brilliant. She is shown so perfectly to have a great, logical mind, brilliant at piecing things together. Unphased by horrific violence. But is actually pretty naive when it comes to reading people. She is so logical she takes everything at face value, including what people say. I often see people comment that she was onto Jerry's bullshit right away and was just playing him, but I don't think that's the case at all. She really is still just going through her logical problem solving. The second time she visits him she is still just trying to track down where the car came from. She is blindsided by Jerry's sudden outburst because she didn't clock him getting increasingly aggitated. It's so good.

He’s been in a lot of films and it doesn’t matter if it’s a blockbuster if it’s a Academy award-winning performance or just a silly ass movie like primes Stanickey with John Cena in it. Macy makes his participation in the movie the best he loves playing serious heavy rolls to a silly ass little roll and he makes it work every single time.
