I'm sorry but Farid and Asmahan were born in Syria more exactly in Jebel ed Druz ( now it called Sweyda City) . Trust me if u want but he was the cousin of my aunt ! Nice story isn't it ?

Was this a masterpiece done by an artist I've heard about my entire life from the old folks but actually never cared? Old people in my society never seize mentioning his name when it's a conversation about music. But I'm always like, yeah! whatever! Now, counting on my obsession with music. Well to be more specific he was from the mountain of Dourouze, do not know what it is now but then belonged to Lebanon, the whole family migrated to Egypt as they were in danger from French occupation the the father was against! Since they got the nationality and lived in and out of Egypt!!

@camelitto1 This was one of his best ever songs, sorry but it is composed by him could be affected by some foreign music like most composers when they like a piece of music it stick in their mind when they compose their own music, some just dump it into their composed piece but this does not mean it is not their creation!

This is a very old spanish classical guitar song. I'm egyptian, and I love Farid, but yeah you can hear the spanish classical influence. Its very predominent in this song. especially the, key, the progression as well as the mode he uses.

@sammy2294 Well Samy I agree on Jebel EL Druz, or Jabel El Druz call it as you like, I do not know about the rest of your story But I know he spent his last days between Egypt which was the family's refuge from French authorities that wanted his Father and his family and Lebanon...what country Jabel El Druz belongs to I have no Idea.

Farid did compose this song, could had been influenced by that Asturias -1st time I hear of it- a lot of musicians did our great composer Abd El Wahab admited once he got influenced by a song and put a couplet or 2 as is in his music but this does not make the whole thing not his!!!

@ananyu75 Mistaken, sorry; He was of Al Dourouze region a mountain between Lebanon and Syria common grounds his father was appointed as governor there by French occupation but due to counter occupation activity from him his life and his family life was in danger so mother and sons and unique daughter migrated to Egypt, the whole family had golden voices inherited from the MOTHER who worked for living as a singer then daughter and him followed and made a great impact in music and singing!!
