Anyone know the name of a similar-ish period film about an actor who plays female parts on the stage who - if memory serves - trains a woman to play a woman on stage? All I can recall is a moment from the trailer where the actor admonishes the woman that she can't preform on stage because she doesn't even know the "six female attitudes" (or something to that effect) that a man must learn to play a woman on stage.

I loved this movie, but the only true thing about it was the fact that Farinelli and his brother were real people. Absolutely everything else in this film is sheer fabrication.

A castrate can't have normal sex like depicted in the movie it's just not possible due lack of testosterone also he wouldn't have a lean musculous body but movie seems good besides that.
@ultron374 Жыл бұрын
True, those guys looked like boys with cute faces and feminine features, boyish body or Klinelter body alike but they weren't manly and lean looking. That shows you how real castrato looked like- literally like a boy with girlish features kzbin.info/www/bejne/hGq2fKKYd7Rpnbs&feature=share

It is probably hard to imagine for average heterosexual man, but the castrati were known to be awesome lovers.
@ultron374 Жыл бұрын
@@tereziekartakova6280 there is few articles online about it. It may not be true as some were asexual, some homosexual - especially those with prominent breasts - not all had those, some couldn't get proper erections and they had very small sizes and well - they faces looked like teeage boy faces with girlish features so they were just strange looking ( small heads, long legs and arms, plumpy around hips)

@@ultron374 If you think the only way how to be intimate with someone is with penis and classic penetration, you don´t have very good imagination in this area of life. According to my source, eunuchs were favorite lovers of some ladies because 1. you won´t get pregnant and 2. they were more resourceful (in opposite of many "normal" heterosexual men). They lost only balls, sometimes balls and penis, not their hands, lips, voice and the rest of the body. Also, having face of young boy and unusual androgynous proportions is very attractive to some people (both men and women). Not every woman likes rough, hairy men. Personally, I think androgynous people are often very attractive, too (like Tilda Swinton, David Bowie, Gwendoline Christie or a few of my friends). There is something alluring on their alien, elvish beauty.

Can't a castrati just be a castrati? Why do they have to be portrayed as muscular and banging women?

exactly like, they could have at least hired a young androgynous looking actor instead, farinelli was likely not particularly masculine since he got castrated at 12 and didn't go through normal male puberty

This movie is so similar to the musical I’m writing. It’s about a castrati in the 1600s who becomes a famous Shakespeare actor who plays women onstage. He was castrated as a twelve year old and taken into the home of a woman who wasn’t his father. I don’t plan on this pseudo father figure grooming him, but this man, Mr. Westchester, becomes very possessive of Ira, the young castrated man, because he will “never grow up” and remain mr. Westchester’s son, as well as a source of income, forever.
