Rob as much as I enjoy your trains I am for ever spell bound by the amazing detail on your model railroad, in the very start of this video the farm scene was great, thanks for sharing , Chuck

+Chuck Baker Hi Chuck, I love the detail too. I like it because I get to see trains running past it. Did you follow the building of the Farm? If you are interested, the Farm build was 114, 115 and 116. It is always great to hear from you and thank you for your kind words. All the best, Rob

Hi Rob, very nice rake of coaches. I purchased a rake of Intercity 125 with lights, which were not cheap. I took one of my coaches apart to see how it was wired because of how dime they are, can only just see the lights in the coaches. I also enjoyed your running session, does not matter what part of your layout I have seen it always looks professionally made. I hope you don't mind I will be building part of my layout, when I get around to it, similar to yours...Simon
@FarlandHowe9 жыл бұрын
Hi Simon, thank you, the Hornby lights are great, I have a rake of Mk2 & rake of Mk3 that are both lighted. They must build the storage capacitor into the strip some how. No idea. I do know that I have been installing lights in a rake of Western chocolate & cream and it is very challenging also not cheap. By the time you buy the lighting kits, the pickups included and the stay alive circuitry it gets up there like 20 quid. Then, you have to do the labor. Takes most of a day for each. I know they are pricey, but I would much rather buy lights installed. If you copy my layout screw for grass clump, I can only be complimented. Copy and duplicate as much as you want. If you have questions about how I did something and I haven't revealed it on YT, let me know and I will do a special. Thank you, all the best, Rob

+Steve Burgess Hi Steve, I noticed while I was watching the finished product that I need to do some work this week. There was missing ballast in the shot by Far Moor and the top of the hill shot towards Shell Hill Signal box revealed raw wood on the platform side. I will have to get that done so I can use those angles again. Thank you Steve, they do look good. Thank you, Rob

Hello Chad, This layout is now at the tip. I had to tear it down to make room for the new layout. The area this one was in was raw basement and my wife did not like it, so she gave me a new room to build the layout into. The videos are numbered from 1B on. The B signifies the new layout, the "B" version. Thank you, Rob

Superb new additions Rob! They certainly go prefect with the Night Cap Bar! They sure look amazing close up! The 50 sure looks perfect on the rake. Nice to see inside. Like the little sink! Lovely shots of the set running around Farland! Excellent scenes indeed! Nice to see a bit of shunting too. Took me a while to figure it was Shell Hill, with one of your moveable boards up! Excellent work and thanks for sharing!
@FarlandHowe9 жыл бұрын
+SDJR7F88 Hi Callum, that is what I thought too. So the 50 with it's big logo is okay with them? It is always interesting to me to see what they have hidden away in the interiors. Few see it. I think I have found two new locations for shooting. I also noticed that the ballast was unfinished across from Far Moor (fixed today) and the platform is unfinished on that side of Shell Hill (also fixed today). That moveable board is great, it expands the possibilities for angles to watch trains. Like you I am always looking for a new place to put my camera. Thank you kind Sir, all the best, Rob

Awesome Rob, those coaches do look very nice and you even had a Class 50 running too! ;-) You layout and detailing just seems to get and better and better, there were times there where it would be difficult to tell if it were real or not. A great video to just kick back and enjoy on this lovely Sunday afternoon so thanks for that. ..............Graham

+Graham Foulston Hi Graham thank you. It is hard to find information about the train I am trying to emulate, the Sleeper from London to Glasgow. Maybe at some point it was pulled by a Class 50?? Who knows? Someone does, but I can't find him/her. When I looked at the video this morning all I saw was the missing ballast by Far Moor and the raw wood on the platform side at Shell Hill. Those are good angles, so I will fix them this week. You are very kind. That is a lovely comment. It makes me happy that my work can entertain. Have a great Sunday evening, well late afternoon and evening anyway. All the best, Rob

Hi Rob,with the 50 on the night train it could be a Penzance to London service...nice coaches !
@FarlandHowe9 жыл бұрын
Hi Andy, I considered that, but the coaches are E's. Would they run eastern coaches on that run? I was sort of thinking London Edinburgh or Glasgow? What do you think? Thank you, Rob

Hi Rob,coaching stock would have run to its region,although sometimes depots would have used other regions stock,you running the 50 reminded me of the Penzance service, and I must admit that's how I'd run them...just for fun . Andy

Hi Rob nice running of the sleeper, got to be Penzance to Paddington was called the night Riviera still runs six days a week leaves Truro at 22.29 Sunday to Friday arrives Paddington approx 05.04 stops at Taunton for 2 hours on route a great link with London usually use it 5 or 6 times a year now pulled by class 56 cheers Kevin

And so it shall be. I think Andy Byrne said the same. I was running it today with an added BR Blue parcels van. It ran well and looked great. It is much too long for any of my platforms so I guess it just won't stop. Thank you Kevin 22:29 huh? That is too late for me. I will have to lay over and catch one in the morning. Thank you, Rob

Think all new coaches should come with lights now Rob ...need a night bar on a sleeper , a wee dram afore going to bed required ..nice set of coaches you have bought there ...all running good at Farland ..Dave
@FarlandHowe9 жыл бұрын
+David Howarth Hi Dave, I sure agree with that. All coaches should come with interior lighting, or it should be an option, tick the box if you want lights. I would definitely be making up to the Night Cap before bed. Most certainly. Thank you, Rob

Hi Rob, Some nice sleeper coaches there, Some pretty good detail but yeah, lighting would be a bonus but I guess they save that for the more "premium" stock
@FarlandHowe9 жыл бұрын
+Michael Henfrey Hi Michael, I think it is the tooling. When they did the design and tooling for this model, and it has been around for a while, they didn't think about lighting. I think and I am guessing, that it has been only in the last few years that the demand for lighting has grown to the point we will pay a little extra for it. It is all about competition. If one starts doing it, the other will have to. They are nice, but exactly like the maroon. Thank you, Rob

Nice looking coaches. I wish they all came with lights. The Walther coaches I bough are already for lights. Everything is in them except the light bar. I will put my own in sometime. Rapido does everything but they are not cheap. They are the most detailed coaches I ever seen. One thing I dislike about the latest run of coaches from Walthers you have to buy everything separate. The coaches are only $35 US but then you have to buy the grab irons and lights. I think they should charge a little more and have them included.Scott
@FarlandHowe9 жыл бұрын
Hi Scott, thanks. Yes I would prefer there were fully equipped myself. I am in the middle of adding lighting to a rake of chocolate & cream westerns now and it is very difficult. When the manufacturers do it, with mass production and the repetition of doing 1,000 or more in a run, it can't cost more than a few dollars to install all that stuff on the line. The recent UK designs, Bachmann and Hornby include lighting, why not the rest. Good comment, Rob

Rob ,having been into trains most my life and done plenty travelling from when I was a kid on inter city all over UK on family holidays, I realised I have never been on the sleeper. Now with you taking that 1st class apart you have got me curious about the difference in the 1st and 2nd class sleeper cars. Is the bed bigger ,are the sheets Egyptian cotton or what is the difference. I wont be able to let it go until I check it out now , Thanks Rob, lol I have left a message in the discussion part here but I don't know if it leaves a notice like if someone comments as I sent one a month ago also, anyway all the best .

Hi Alan, since I have only been on a sleeper in US, I have no idea, but I am confident that the model is precisely the same inside both types. I is always interesting to see what's inside. Thank you for your great comment, Rob

Rob McCrain www.railfaneurope.net/misc/gbclass.html Rob I wonder if this link is any use to you. If you copy and paste it into the browser it will bring a pageup. The first heading gives a page listing all the BR locos used (diesel & electric) from they started out of steam ,though just clicking on it if it's highlighted may bring up the page I refer to.. I find it useful to refer to especially for checking old BR numbers on locos starting with the D instead of the class. Just in case your interested. It is a guy thing I reckon but to compare the horse power of your favourite loco to one that say has a good reputation, lol , the silly things that amuse ,eh?

Hello Rob, that's a really nice rake of coaches you have. I like that little ramp you use for placing them on the track, never seen one of those before. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I love your layout. Watching it is great therapy on a Sunday morning. Can I ask please, what model number is your JVC Everio camcorder? I really need to get some more videos up but I've been working away from home so I haven't had the time. All the best Howard.

+Mayhew Junction Thank you Howard. Many manufacturers make re-railers. Mine is a KATO Unitrack. The camera was a very inexpensive one bought from Amazon.com. The number is GZ-E200BU. It is not very good, but at the time, I just wanted to get on the air. 132 videos later, I am still using it. It makes me happy that you like the layout. It still needs work, both the scene by Far Moor and up at Shell Hill signal box have problems that need attention. There was missing ballast in one and an unpainted platform edge in the other. Those are new angles and I like them, so will have to get busy next week. Thank you, Rob
