It’s a blessing that you decided to learn and embrace your husband’s culture…many ppl marry into different cultures and countries and never do this and it causes so much friction later in the relationship…even inside a culture there are family traditions or tribal traditions and city life vs rural country life and can often cause much criticism from others… and then of course the raising of the children…your decision to live there for a year before moving was wise… and George also understands your country…he knows how you were accustomed to live and the adjustments and compromise you have to do now to make it work..I truly applaud you…keep the love flowing and you will succeed…praying for you..I understand how to live in a rural community…was raised in Jamaica 🇯🇲 then moved to the USA where I got spoiled…moving back to retire is a journey.. and you really can’t constantly make comparisons…you will never be content if you do. Embrace the grace ….trust God to work things out….love your family…Jamaica has so many similarities…the sugar cane and fresh avocados…the home grown chickens…😋 taste better too….fresh eggs..we eat goat too…curried goat is a must here…roast pork….yummy.. and the hustle and bustle of rural towns and roadside food..road trips on bad roads..LOL..but the friendliness of strangers and generosity…and yes we have fences too and prickly hedges to keep out the unwanted…nowhere is perfect… but you can settle your heart …if I was younger Kenya would be on my bucket list 👍🏼🥁 I like George calmness as he functions on the farm. ❤️ handles his machete aka cutlass very well…🤣

Someone might have suggested this, but since you have already had animals and birds, have you considered using biogas? Kenya is a leader in biogas tech, and you may pick one up from the local for cheap. Especially, I like Homebiogas 2.0 (by Israel company), which is very efficient and fully integrated. Good luck!

Great job guys. For your chicks it's a bit dangerous to put them in a house that had chickens earlier and no cleaning was done especially if the previous birds were mature. The house should be cleaned disinfected and left unoccupied for at least 2 weeks. Thereafter put wood shavings on the floor (about 6 inches deep ), disinfect them, and also.put them in the nesting boxes too. Ask the fundi to raise the boxes off the floor 1½ feet up so that the chickens don't peck and eat the eggs.

Hehe absolutely, farm life typically means that you get up in the morning with a well laid down plan for the day, and the process is a cycle. But I tell you once you get used to it you kinda start loving it, especially, when everything about your home becomes sustainable--you don't worry buying food and stuff.
