I have a friend of mine that makes kienyeji here in the states. Her secret is long slow cooking. It comes out tender. Only reason I don't like it is that they are scrawny lol, which means more work. However I love them for sandwich meat because of their slightly gamier taste (ie not bland).

New here, Scandinavian living on and off in Kenya with my Kenyan husband. And I just have to compliment on the channel on which I am trying to catch up 🥴 I simply have to comment on broiler vs. kienyeji chicken 🐔 I, too, prefer the broiler and I know most Kenyans think differently. The kienyejis are simply to hard to chew because they have a longer growth period. I used to raise broilers like kienyejis, I.e. outdoors, over like 6-7 weeks, and they were just excellent and yummy 😋 And I don't see why one could not mix the two of them. A p.s. .... the Kenyans thought I had lost it when I put my broilers outside 🥴 but of course they were just fine. Very healthy and very, very meaty and tender.
