Today I take you along as I take care of the farm. We've got chickens, cows, and pigs to take care of! Things are starting to grow well now that we've received some good rainfall!

Maybe some of your older hens could earn thier keep with bug patrol in the garden? Been meaning to compliment you on your intro music, very cheerful! In fact I've found myself humming the tune throughout the day.

That’s wonderful! I think the chickens may do more damage to the plants but I’ve heard ducks can be good!

Your Buff Orpington (I think) had a close call with some kind of predator. Three of my free rangers weren't so lucky when a bobcat got them last week. Another great video. Always enjoy to see whats happening on your homestead.

We later found out it was the neighbors breeding dogs. They like to breed shebas and one got out. Thankfully they are selling them for good

It's really cool to see you do your chores and how you treat your animals and try to make make them friendly to you follow you around and do do what you want to do that's really cool not like some big farm that they're all stuck out in the pasture and they don't have any personality well once again thanks for sharing and see you next time

Yes Sir it was kinda exciting to get the notification that you had a new video posting. Zach it is so good to be updated and see how well things are progressing for you and your family on the farm how you have been thoughtfully putting your infrastructure in place working with and training the Farm Animals and it's just extremely exciting to see all that you have been able to learn and accomplish from the time that you have been sharing your journey with the KZbin channel fans so may this all continue to be a great very meaningful learning experience and interaction throughout the remainder of your journey. And I also am so excited and proud for way that both Ashlyn and yourself have decided to share and document this part of your life and journey! Hoping that you might become somewhat of a inspiration for others. Keep up the good work and we will see you and hear about things on the farm in the coming days. Until then take care 🙏

Zach. Broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, cabbage are cool weather vegetables. They do not flourish in the heat of summer and fewer there are fewer bugs. Try planting them again about a week before Labor day. You will have fresh vegetables in October. If you are starting from seed then plant a week or two before. Hope this helps.

Weeds go crazy in the midwest. We doubled the size of our garden this year using the woven weed fabric and love it. We live in central Indiana and looking forward to not having a jungle of weeds shen we get busy canning. Your garden is looking great. Gardening is always a learning experience and it is fun experimenting with different varieties or new veggies. Keep up the great work!

Tons of work. You’re doing a great job, both on the farm and with the videos. Currently in GA after an extended vacation in FL. Taking our time getting back to MI thanks to Canada’s fires! 😷🥵🤨. Really odd about the fires, I’ve lived in MI my entire life minus a year and 1/2 and there’s never ever been uncontrolled ‘wildfires’ in Canada nor MI in the 51 years I’ve been alive. 🤔

Good news on the chicks. Glad to hear it given what you've been through. I also have Red Rangers coming from MM end of July. I think they call them the Big Red Ranger now. I just processed 4 of 11 of my Freedom Rangers this weekend and I have to say it's an awesome bloodline (from Mt. Healthy Hatchery). These 4, all males, were 6+Lbs live weight at only 7 weeks. All but one dressed out under 4lbs and he was 3lb 15oz. 4lbs dressed at just 7 weeks old for a FR is crazy good. I have 7 left. One is a runt, one is a 5lb 8oz that I'm keeping and the rest are females; two over 5lbs, both of which I'm also keeping to create an American Bresse/FR cross. I know this is a book but thanks to you I'm not only mixing my own feed (and growing some of it), I'm grinding my own starter thanks to the EveryGrow. I would never have know existed if it wasn't for you. I keep meaning to check to see if they have a consumer grade fodder shredder and a pelletizer; both of which would be game changers.
@ThePasturedHomestead Жыл бұрын
Wow, those grew out so fast! I noticed out red ranger meat birds are the same size as out Cornish cross birds and the rangers are even 1 week younger! Glad you found a great feed recipe! Did you use the feed recipe on your meat birds or did you use a meat bird feed?

Garden is looking great Zach and when it comes pumpkin season you can always sell some of them too for profit plus the animals love them and it’s a good dewormed for them. Do you have a video on how you make your own pig feed and chicken feed it’s getting so expensive anymore to buy it we try to give them as much scraps that we have and tops off of veggies too.

Hey Zack if you feed the chickens in the morning why would they put much effort into foraging? Feed them in the evening, in their shed and lock them up. THat way the poop stays where you can get to it. They'll get used to the new routine.
