Awesome info! We are kicking this kind of idea around down here in southern Indiana! So happy to hear he does this with an off farm job. That's been our big struggle and it's fantastic to hear that it can be done.

Where at in Southern Indiana?? We are originally from IN. But yes! He does work a lot. It can be done.
@Alex-17923 ай бұрын
@@BreakingNewRootsYes, I remember from your original KZbin channel! As for where...Still trying to nail that down. Plans are constantly changing. We originally thought we would have a location a few miles away from the home farm, but adding the real estate cost drives project price up, so instead we're looking for a new home farm that we can build on...similar to what he did in the video. Its hard to say where we'll ultimately land. It is tough to balance land space, with ample traffic for business visibility, and not run into zoning troubles. Probably going to be either Washington county or Scott county, but that's totally up for change.

Great video - that is a great setup! Interesting take on the grain-fed vs grass-fed fat color. I raise grass-fed Dexters and some lines have yellow fat and others have white fat, so I think there is also a genetic component.

He rents the farm where he built those wonderful facilities. What happens to the facilities when the lease ends?

Great question. I'm not sure what is on lease and what is land he owns but I believe his lease is lifetime. We are seeing a lot of farmers operating on a lifetime lease.

Why raise the animal? This enterprise pays better. The $ $ $ is in the marketing not in production. Stay safe. Thank you,
@BreakingNewRoots2 ай бұрын
That’s an interesting question. My answer would be in the love and passion in it. Those of us that raise animals truly love to do so. We feel connected and called to it. But, like Greg explains, one must make money in the world we live in. He found a way to make money and live in his passion.
