A British MD is direct start. The engine is a converted gas block. No split function head. The American MD gas mode is for starting only. It won't perform work on gas if that's what you're asking.

Thanks for the comment. I once had an opportunity at a B MD but passed on it because I had enough to do. It's been a long time since I've made this video so I don't recall if I was asking anything, but I've been able to move them around and load them on the gas side if I needed to

@@reeseholler92 oh sorry I was trying to reply to the British fellas Diesel or petrol question. Yeah, I had an MD with a mag start. It ran good. Used less fuel. Yes, on gas it would pull itself. I wonder what would happen if you put a bigger carb with a throttle on lt. When I had the MD ten years ago all the old timers said " it's gonna crack the head!" It never did though. My buddy has a tractor junkyard and there was an MD head right by his door that was cracked long ways down the middle. So always idle down before shutdown. You know that but others might not.

Any ideas on where to get parts for one of these? I have one, 3 out of the 4 cylinders look fresh on an overhaul, one is anything but pretty and needs a sleeve and piston for sure, possibly more.

id love to have a farmall MD your is in really nice shape that m&w clutch those are a little rare but great video she runs great

@270wsmabolt Actually the guy I bought it from changed the plugs before I picked it up so I didn't have to. The hand clutch is made by M&W and breaks the differential so that the tractor stops but the PTO continues to run. Makes the tractor have "Live" PTO.

@270wsmabolt The guy that had it before me only had it for around 3 years. The guy before that I'm pretty sure was the original. I'm not quite sure that the switch isn't original because I"ve seen a couple of them like that and it's the same ignition switch I've seen on a lot of Farmalls. I could be wrong. It could be added on. I dunno. Just know that I need to get the charging issue fixed. Haven't charged it since last september

Yes. I believe our gasoline is the same as your petrol. I'm not all that familiar with all of the different fuel terms

Have you changed the plugs? We did and its quite a job. You almost have to take the manifold off. Ours has a sidehill hitch too. Why does it have a hand clutch?

Your lack a script makes the video unwatchable. Get focused!
