I'm Thinking About Selling Two Tractors | Which Ones? Should I sell my tractors? Reasons to sell tractors. #farmallfanatic #farmall #redpower

If each tractor has a purpose and an implement then keep them. If any of your stable lacks purpose, then subtract the ones without. I was going to say the 756 and the A. You made a good point on the loader. Move the loader to the 756 and sell the lesser 400 and the A. The 756 will be a beast with a loader. 👍🏻

Moving the loader to the 756 sounds like a good idea to me. You want all the weight you can get in the rear end of a two wheel drive loader tractor. Also it has power steering and probably better hydraulics.

You need to do what you makes the most sense for you. Just my 2 cents, i like the idea of the loader going on the 756, sell the 400, A and maybe 1 cub

At one point I had 14 tractors (10 antiques and 4 modern units). Now I'm down to just 2 newer units but wish I'd kept one or two of the antiques. It started to feel like my possessions were possessing me. As you pointed pointed, it was like having a full-time maintenance job and the fun was fading away. I have good memories and realized I can appreciate something without necessarily owning it.

Great point collector value, that makes that low hour 400 a keeper along with the Super M-TA! Sell a few, buy a couple. When you're ready that loader on the 756 will be an improvement over the 400, let that one go. Also the M, the oddball seat, condition lessen the collector value, sell. The A isn't functional for you, sell. What's a letter series collection without an H? Sounds like it a keeper for you! Changing up your collection the will keep things interesting! Good luck!!!

My H was my first Farmall tractor. My great grandfather bought it new in 45. I thought it would stay but I like the 200 I bought 2 years ago even more. My younger son and my brother want to buy the H, so if one comes up with the money, they can come get it. I put a wide front on it and a 3 point hitch. That made it really handy. I just saw a 230 for sale with fast hitch and a remote, that would be a handy tractor. I also have an IH 300 utility but I'm going to sell it and buy my older son's 460 from him. That live power is handy and I sure like the sound of that 6 cylinder engine. Then I'll find an Oliver Super 55 to use in the woods, for cutting and crimping hay, and as a backup for the baler. My older son is keeping his 560 with 2000 loader, Oliver 770, Super M (my grandfather's), M, and Super C. He bought a McCormick 30 loader and he's going to put it on the M. He figures it'll be handy for cleaning barn since it's so much narrower than the 560.

I feel your pain , I have been trying to put 2 new tires on the back of one of mine for a few years now and every time I get ready to pull the trigger something else takes priority. I have been running my Cubs a lot plowing snow & mowing grass, I haven't done any planting in a few years but everything is going up Tires, batteries & oil & filters. I think I'm going to probably part with anything that doesn't get used before long, It's going to be hard but as you said there is only so many hours in the day & dollars in the bank. TJ

@tyfrank34278 ай бұрын
Yes I totally understand where you're coming from. Although you don't have to change the oils in the rear ends as much as you do, (you can easily get 1000 hours out of it) it is still expensive to maintain that many. And yes with the 400 and Super MTA, you really don't need the M. However, I think you'll regret selling the M. I'd sell the A and one of the Cubs and maybe the 400 that currently has the loader if you put one on the 756. I wish you were closer, you can get an Ezee-On loader for the 756. They are a breeze to get on and off and I prefer them to the IH 2350.

And that’s a tough one, I bought an M as my first tractor. She pulled my lawnmower into town to go mow yards and that’s kind of how I got my start and I got my first 15 acres And she cut and bailed and did everything, then I got my first 150 acres and I added a 706 In the m kinda went on auger duty, That was about 20 years ago, the 706 turned into an 8000 series John Deere they held onto that m, but now she’s showing her age and she’s gonna need some pretty major work and I can’t make the spreadsheet work, at the same time we don’t keep equipment around unless it’s field ready, so fix it or get rid of it has always been how we are, and The m doesn’t really have a place in our operation, And the kids are big fan of those two cylinder John Deere so that little red tractor doesn’t get much attention
@FarmallFanatic8 ай бұрын
What it boils down to is a labor of love... You definitely don't put the money into that tractor because it's worth it... The spreadsheet will never work lol... My M is definitely field ready, but I think if I sell it when it's field ready, maybe I get a little more for it
@Husker34358 ай бұрын
Tough choices FF, kinda of like if someone asked you which one of your kids do you love most. Love em all the same amount, it’s just that they’re all different and ya love em for what they are…the 2000 on the 756 would be a beast though😎take care hoss🇺🇸💪🏻🇺🇸

@j.sfarms8 ай бұрын
In my mind it would make the most sense to get the hand clutch working on the M before selling, that adds value (at least in my area it does). I would prolly put the loader on the 756, or better yet, look for a 2250/2350 Mount-O-Matic so you could take loader on and off in a matter of minutes to use it for field work. In my mind 2 super Cs dont make sense, Id prolly lose one and get a 200/230 or a 340. All that would Probably make enough barn space for a 560 😉

Also then 1968 International was at Roads also Department Highway Patrol used for cutting ditches grass Leo and Jack work at plus own home farms too! Then one day at dealership at International I was 5 years old at time in 1982 saw 724 International saw told my dad check with Owner and he did that ! Then in 1987 he bought used one 724 Desiel motor tractor with Allied loader at farm Auction sale for $6.500 price bought for! In 1994 dad and his brother thinking retirement the 1950 Cockshutt 40 tractor and get 824 International with or with out Torque Amplifier but lots people hold on to those tractor because 4×4 type too plus operating with loader! So past up because wanting retirement on farm operations in 1997 ! But yes getting expensive back then to Geno I remember my dad saying 1963 B414 was $30.00 , 1968 McCormick - nternational 105 C same too price , 1968 International 624 was $60.00 , 1978 International 724 Loader was $80.00 for engine oil + oil & air filters transmission also hydraulics fluids ! Tires not cheap then too and in 1994 was over $10.000 3 tractors and combine do up! Ever think of mounting a fast hitch on the M? Something off a Farmall 300? You could make a Franken-Farmall. You are worried about the fluids and fuel going bad since you do have dead time between planting and harvest. Part of the reason the tractor replaced the horse was you didn't have to plant crops to feed the horse while it was standing in the stall. Ever think of how much draw bar equipment needs tires.

Your only problem is you like antique tractors! You have too much time to enjoy your hobby and a big part of it is going to auctions. There's nothing wrong with that until you get to the point you can't walk in any of your buildings and your grandkids can't come in with you because it's too dangerous. (like something could fall on them) Like you said you have too many to maintain, it'll get over whelming and nickel and dime you to death! I would tell someone in your place to start at one end and work to the other, clean up and get them running then figure out what fits in your life the best. Sometimes stuff doesn't cost you anything sitting there but somebody may be able to put it to use. My shed is full I'm starting in the morning sorting that mess out, after a cup of AM coffee! I've been out of work because of my back and don't want to get help but watching this made me see I need to switch gears. Thanks! Sorry for dumping that.
