One of our first tractors , when Dad bought our small farm in 1964 was a Super C. It was set up like yours and we ended up with the same plow, same disc same sickel bar mower but we got one extra a two-row fast hitch corn planter. I spent many hours working with that little tractor and the small equipment. We only had 93 acres so it wasn't like we needed bigger stuff. Really was a good setup.

When you get that apart Mr fanatic you will find that the spool that matches that pillow block has rings cast in it and they will pretty much hold the dirt out. I have a 9A here that my granddad bought new probably in the late 50s or early 60s it has always been kept in except at peak times in the spring and then when we were planning wheat in the fall we used that as our main disc here till about 10 years ago and we bought the McCormick tractor and we needed a bigger disc to cover the wheels on it and I kept a 9A and I still use it in my knowledge I do not believe that we have ever replaced a pillow block or a spool on that one and we had one here we got from the neighbor it was a transport as opposed to the drag and I replaced one in it because they had broken it but I think this one that we bought new originally has never ever had a pillow block or a spool replaced. That disc covered probably 30 to 40 acres of corn and small grain ground a year here for all those years and then went off the farm a little bit here and there for custom work it didn't do too much with it because you had to load it on a hay wagon to move it. I have a nearly new woods here now transport with big 22-in blades notched in the front smoothed in the back and we do our main amount of disc in with it but it is more of a cutting disc in the finishing disc if I want a nice finish anywhere I'm sitting down or something like that I either use the disc then the s time harrow then the car washer or somewhere in there after the heavy disc I'll go in with the light one if I'm looking at like somewhere I'm sitting down or something I want to smooth but like I say that 9:00 a.m. I don't think that we have ever replaced a pillow block or a spool keep it greased takes lots of Grease but it really work well it's much more efficient and easy to work on too then the newer style because the newer ones you have to take your displays all apart to get the bearing these you just drop the pillow block and pull them apart
@FarmallFanatic3 жыл бұрын
Yeah it won't be bad changing these bearings
@TAHDAHFarm3 жыл бұрын
You will be glad you put new blades on if you go to all the trouble of taking it apart. I like the idea of the barn being open on both ends. If you need to, you can always hang a tarp up.

Congratulations on finding that much fast hitch equipment this quick FF! My experience is that GOOD 1 point implements are getting very scarce can't say about 2 point. I'm with you on leaving both ends of the shed open. In your case, you can pull tractors in from both directions. If you only had 2-3 tractors, you could park them in one end and implements, trailers ect. in the other and not have to move tractors out to hook to them. By the way, I filled up my touch control with the old HyTran and it works great! Thanks for your help!

That leveling link works when you make the second pass your right tire drops down in the furrow from the previous pass and tractor now is unlevel with rear plow higher than the front,the leveling link tilts plow so both are level and at equal depth!

I have the 2 point scoop as well and my research showed that they were made for the 300 with 3" points. Mine were cut down to 2.5" and the reshaping was done well. Maybe yours is different. I am sure you know by now but the axle clamp is where you hook up the trip mechanism for the sickle mower.

@@tbishop6726 it was superior to the 3 point in many ways, lighter implements and less engineering needed for them, less materials used, easy attach and disconnect, and many many more. The only 3 point style i like is the oliver 1650s with the fast attach bottom 2 points

the one sqautch pulls is a rolling tumblebug you load it and then trip it and it rolls to empty these were originally made to pull with a team of horses.. the plow has high speed mowboards and sharpenable shares dad took ours to a blqacksmith and when they needed it they were repointed.. a good amish blacksmith can restore these. when they get worn down you have them hard surfaced black smihed welded. the disc. is supposed to have a slightly smaller rear outer blade which is a furrow coverer.. when i worked for the iH dealer i assemkbled 370 ans 470 models from a bundle of frame parts , a stack of blades and a crate of hardware. we tightened thr gangs with a sledge hammer rail road wrench. thye dealer had the entire set.
