A Herefordshire farmer who was jailed for causing damage to a protected river has defended his actions, insisting they helped prevent flooding to local properties and land.
Several homes along the River Lugg flooded during Storm Dennis in February 2020 and John Price said he did the river works in late November 2020 to reduce the risk of further flooding to homes and his own land.

I didn't realise he had licences to do the work for the ea. Why the hell was he prosecuted then? I thought he just did the job without permissions, although it needed doing anyway? He should be compensated, criminal record removed and pardoned IMO. It's what used to be called a travesty of justice and still is.

This is what happens when unexperienced university graduates get positions of authority. The same can be said for most environmental schemes more box ticking than beneficial work.

So he cleared the river of debris dug his own field back 30 ft for free, so the water could flow through, therefore reducing land flood and ensuring the river flowed properly and they prosecuted him? Ffs😂

IMHO I think this is personal. I think someone higher up on the food chain had it in for John Price. I think he should received a full pardon and compensation for this miscarriage of justice. What he did was to the benefit of the local community. Far too many councils are are neglecting their duty of care. It's important to keep waterways clear and allow flood waters to drain swiftly. I call upon all farmers to unite and Petition the Government. Does King Charles know about this?

Well done John. PS, could you produce a video from the 1950s to now showing the changes of the river.
