A farmer and a stone A farmer was preparing his land to grow crops. While digging the soil, his spade got stuck at one place. Curious, he decided to see what was there. He dug and found a large chest. He quickly opened it, only to be disappointed to find black stones inside. He wondered what to do with them. It occurred to him that when birds come to eat his crops, he could sit there and throw stones at them to protect his crops. One day, a man passing by the same field found two black stones that the farmer had thrown to scare away the birds. This man recognized the stones as valuable gems like pearls, diamonds, and rubies. He brought the stones to the farmer and asked if he wanted to sell them for 0000 each. The farmer thought the man was joking and jokingly said no. The man then offered 5 million rupees for each stone and explained that they were very precious jewels. When the farmer realized the true value of these stones, he regretted throwing most of them away. He started to feel regretful and began to cry. The lesson is that every second of our time is as valuable as these stones. Today, we may be throwing away our time here and there, but on the Day of Judgment, we will realize how precious time is. However, it will be too late. We still have the opportunity to use our time wisely for the real purpose of life. Quran Surah Al-Asr states: "By time, indeed, mankind is in loss, except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience."
