I started this a month ago, splitting a store bought pineapple crown into 4 pieces, and I already have the beginnings of 5 new plants.(one is producing 2 shoots) I’m so excited!!! 🤩

I did the same thing but I made the initial head root in water 1st. Then cut it into 4. Currently all 4 are shooting up 1 baby.

I am over 60 years old and I love learning new ways of growing anything, I have been planting the whole pineapple crown my whole life, I have a crown in water right now and when the roots grow, I will cut it into quarters. I'm excited to try this. I also found out today that I can plant the pineapple seeds.

I would suggest leaving the crown in water for 20 days to get larger roots before splitting it in halves. That can improve the efficiency by reducing the energy required by the plant to grow in the substrate, therefore reducing the growth time a few more days.

I left my 14 pineapple crowns in water to grow roots before I planted them which settled into the soil quickly. Next time after they grow roots I will separate them in smaller cuttings and then plant them. Thanks for the info.

I cut a pineapple top into 4 pieces on August 19th . I live in Florida it's been raining alot they looked like they were all dying and today I noticed 2 of the plants have sprouts growing in between the leaves and it's only September 12th!

I’ve grown pineapple plants from the crown before. I got one now that’s two years old. But I didn’t even think about splitting the crown. This is great. I can grow more this way.

Does a pineapple plant just keep growing and giving new pineapple year after year like a fruit tree does? How many pineapple do you get per plant? How long does it take to get a ripened pineapple from start to finish?

@@flatout5815 my current one is an indoor plant. It may never produce. But I grew them in Hawaii. It took a couple years per plant for them to produce. I had several so I always had one growing fruit.

Well if ur plant is big enough but do not produce fruit then I will suggest you to put rotten apple slices or banana peels in the centre ( it's contain absisic acid which helps in flowering in pineapple) it will definitely help u
