Today we measured out how many arms we need for the trellis on the blackberries. We are putting the blackberries on the RCA training trellis. We are growing the blackberries for you pick and commercial production. Then I stored tomatoes we pick on Monday and I also sprayed weed killer around the baby trees.

The post that gets put in the ground cap off the top to keep it from filling with rain and snow. That way the post will not rust out from the inside. Should last as long as you need them. Also hot dip galvanizing would help the longevity of the trellis system.

We looked into galvanized and it's a little over our budget

Upstate NY is where I’m at. I’ve gone to plenty of farmers markets and I’ve never seen them sort tomatoes by quality. They just put a bunch in quart container and sell them. Scared and blemished.

Would you have a drawing and parts call-out of the trellis system that you wouldn't mind sharing? Love this :)

Can you make a more explicit video of your RCA? I'm very interested since I'm planning on planting blackberries next year. Thanks.

I am interested in what type of pre-emergent herbicide you use around your apple trees. Thanks for making the great videos!

So when flipping these with the vines and blooms on them laying horizontal how many people do you need? I realize that the vines aren't heavy but the wire tension and rust and metal to metal will add to the equation. It seams one person or even two would have a hard time getting them over. Am I missing something obvious here? I do love the concept. As an old machinist my first thought was a shaft running all the way down each row and throw the entire row with one flip. Now that would hit deep in the wallet. Another question about this "new to me" setup is why not lower the berry side to near horizontal after the blooming to keep 🐦 birds from ever knowing a tasty meal is below? Then at harvest and pruning raise them back up. I have picked many a gallon of wild BBs but never any tame and know zero about thornless. So what may sound like input in this comment is actually questions. I thank People like Yourself who devote time on subjects that you know and share with those who don't but want to know. I too have some P poor vids on a couple things tips that I hope will just help people along. If my video editing skills were better I'd love to make more showing people how to do things around the home shop to save trips to a machine shop , or save machines with common tools that not many people understand. From looking at y'all's shop it seems y'all must fix everything on site as much as possible to keep expensive in-house as well.

Does it matter which direction the rows are oriented with this type of system? North to south or east to west?

Some feedback: I would find your channel more useful if you covered the topic of the video’s title more exclusively and in depth, rather than shooting a day’s events, most of which has nothing to do with the topic in the title. I’ve watched 3 of 4 of your videos on the blackberry cross arm trellis so far and each one only devotes a fraction of the time to that topic. I hope this feedback is helpful to you growing your channel!

The RCA trellis is very intriguing to me because I live in zone 5. The common assessment is that blackberries are not viable here. My hope is that understanding the trellis may allow the canes to be layer down and protected somewhat during the winter months, making them viable here after all. Along with other benefits..I appreciate you covering the topic!
