Tried to get to see one of these working with intention of buying but couldn't so I rang Johnson's to see if they did demos another no so I looked to hire one for a week of them, another no. Got in touch with hustler themselves and nothing. Rang blaney and 2 days later and X10 landed in the yard for 2 wks trial, bought it.

You could save driving on the silage by feeding the first one left then doing the second one on the right with the boom right out and boom on as you unroll. Then repeat for the second half of the shed

Would a tire pusher be any use shoving in the silage
@MCMilkingIt16 минут бұрын
If you fed 2 bales every day it would reduce the amount to be piked in and maybe reduce the amount of silage that ends up on the slats. But only you know how long it takes to go up there so maybe the gain isn't worth it.

Hey. We have this machine on our dairy farm in NZ. When you cut the wrap off just cut 1/3 (not 1/2) and you won't have the problem of it getting stuck to the chain.

I really like the two camera videos with the monologue to camera as your thoughts arise while you are using the equipment or performing a task. It must be more work in the edit but the output is worth it 👍
@MurphyFarming2 сағат бұрын
The way I put the bale on is I take off the wrap first, leave on the net then I put it on the hustler cut the net and wrap the net around the bars for stopping it going over the side and the net should wrap around the bar instead of the chain

Great Video lovely machine Farmer Phil one quick question about it when you take the machine off how does the hydraulics connect and reconnect is it a hydraulic bank to seal or have hydraulic pipes to be connected each time best wishes cheers Declan
@stephenrowlands8438 сағат бұрын
If you look on the left of the machine you can see that the hydraulic drive engages mechanically to the feeder so there are no hydraulics on that part of it. It's a round contact with two lugs on it - this is the mechanical drive.

@ywilliamhamill55856 сағат бұрын
Lad Ik your trying to save time by putting four bales in every other day but you would be better putting 2 bales every day so that there's not a big pile of silage in front of the cattle and there would be less silage going onto the slats and going into the tank and if any silage did go onto the slats go in pick it up so that the silage is not wasted
@mikestapleton39737 сағат бұрын
Hi Phil I don’t think I could justify 10000 for one of those for 200 bales does not make financial sense that sort of money could go way further spent elsewhere does what it says on the tin but god it’s too expensive

Evening phil. Why not put half a bale on one side, then do the same on the other side and do the same all way along that way? You won't have to drive on the silage
@frankcarty4 сағат бұрын
They are a great machine, we have been using one (different brand) for the last 8 winters. It's on the back of the tractor for most of the winter. You do need a wide feed passage if using it behind a tractor, and a hydraulic top link is also essential

you should be able to feed both sides at once ....... look at the video posted up on you tube . the passage in that video is very narrow and they are using only a loader on a tractor ........... buy the new machine you will not regret it ............... have one here for a few years .....good machine in a narrow passage ..........stack the bales on their ends in future .......they will spread round shaped bales much better ....... if a bale will not unroll u can unhitch from the machine and put it on the other side and the bale will roll off ........unchopped bales tend to not unroll in the opposite direction of the way the bale was baled more so than chopped bales , if that makes sense ........ they will work well on a tractor but u will need a loader to put the bale on the unroller ..........u can use the bale spikes that come with it but u will not be in a good mood after ...... drive harder out in the field and spread the bale out over a bigger area .......less waste .... I thought that I was mad buying one , but I would not part with it now ......only machine to feed in a narrow passage I never have to do any forking in after from day to day .............!

Nice setup, I guess feeding both sides as you move back is the way to go :) I would also think that it will roll off easier one way than the other anyway, because the bale is rolled together one way anyway :) But quite nice setup anyway. And if you buy a new one, I guess you can sell it again when it isn't necessary anylonger. But the onrolling in the field is very handy ;)

Drop your bales in the passage way and roll them back with a grab. A smaller 5ft tine grab.... you can clean out waste silage, you can work the silage around. You can press it down so its not falling in to slats. That machine is cool. But its a one trick pony and it is kinda slow. Nothing to do with you, its just the process is slow having to drop bale, hook up, cut the plastic, roll the bale around, back over to take off plastic. Back in to machine..... Thats a lot of messing vs.... grab the bale, drop it, take plastic off and blow bale apart.
@patrickflood49315 сағат бұрын

You should try the bale splitter b4 you make the decision....just to be sure you have the right machine. A splitter like ifarmwefarm i mean. Should work in that passage well, but the hustler would work well to put a bale into the feeder at home, or even any of your passages without feeder at home.
